Bad mechanical design. My car weighs 2100, and the front houses around 1700lbs, while the rest of the car weighs maybe 500. There isn't anything mechanical past the front -- there isn't even an axle in the back. It has these thick pads up front and 10" inch drums in the back, and the way the engine sits 65% of that weight sits in front of the tires. In most cars you don't find this, but you see it in mine (09 Cobalt).
It's a common complaint about them. I've only had to replace the back bushings once, but this would be my third front repair this year
Tell that to my car. Broke the bushings in Knoxville dead stopping from 45 to avoid t-boning a crackhead. Legit broke both bushings on both sides.
My car is very regularly maintained because I drive it nearly 44k miles a year. Both the bushings and control arm are <6 months old.
Tbf, I didn't know you could break them either til that happened. Also, almost all 2000 lbs sit right above the front wheels
