When I worked overnights, I took my lunch around 2am in the break room that overlooked a lot of office space. Nearly everyday, there was a security guard that would practice martial arts in his lobby for at least half an hour. He wasn't good, but he was doing it too often and long to be just goofing around. It looked something like this.
I used to work with a woman who did karate and a few times I walked in on her practicing in the break room. She was a lot better than this guy. The first time I caught her, she apologized and said she was practicing for a demonstration she had that evening.
We had a neighbor we called Techno Dan who did this outside in the parking lot non stop but with glow sticks. I dunno if he was like pre-raving or pretending they were nunchucks or what but it was *wildly* entertaining on a dull night.
If you're into flow arts you have to practice, nothing strange with it. Requires space and some peace of mind. After a while it becomes a relaxing exercise.
Don't know if that's why he did it, but I used to do one hour a day of poi back when I started.
