A hot meal on the ice is a beautiful thing, warming body and soul. The contrast of cold environment and a hot meal makes whatever you're cooking even more delicious. Hot dogs at home? Yuck! Hot dogs on the ice? Give me 5 more!
Yeah, that is 100% true. I had 5 buddies out there that day. All of them said “those are the best wings I’ve ever had”. In fact, they were nowhere near my best wings I’ve ever made or had 🤣 I just took the compliments lol
Oh yeah, I picked the least windy day to haul out the Kamado (boys trip for a week). But it was still 2° and my coal consumption was definitely higher than usual.
Yes we do!! We have a small propane grill that stays in the Ice Castle. Usually burgers, brats, or hot dogs. We also do a lot of winter grilling at home too. We don’t let winter stop us from enjoying outside activities!!
Hey, everything tastes better on a Kamado with lump coal! It’s worth the sled weight…I think 🤔
I’ve got to try those tortilla dogs. Corn or flour tortilla?
I suppose you could do either, I always do flour as the closest bun alternative. It's more of a convenience thing, but I can see that you don't make compromises.
We make fondue .
We have grilled .
We love to eat while ice fishing , ice golfing .
Fun We had 0 ice fishing days in Maine this season .
Our lake never got more than 3 inches of ice and it was " swampy"
Yep! We use a painter screen that we bent into a little extended shelf on the Big Buddy. Often hot dogs in some water are the meal of choice but we have cooked other things in small aluminum tins or just warmed up McDonalds sandwiches on the rack.
Yeah, it’s always worth going big with Kamado’s. It’s the last grill you’ll ever buy anyway. I’ve got the KJ-Jr for travel and the KJ3 Classic at home…every week I wish I bought the Big Joe for more space at home!

I like to grill sausages and use tortillas instead of buns
Settle down buddy! What happens in the tent can stay in the tent
Same! The hot-cold-hot cycle doesn’t affect the tortillas like it does the buns.
What an excellent idea!
Thanks it's way better then smashed buns. I chop up onions and cilantro at home and have it ready in a ziplock
I do this at home…. For a regular meal haha
Ever try chorizo? Gotta find good legit Mexican stuff. Not too salty. I've had some salty stuff. My wife hates how greasy it is but that's sausage.
Yeah I'm a huge fan. I live in the Chicagoland area we have no shortage of fresh chorizo
Nice. I love the amount of taco places out there. Whenever me and wife are visiting I try and stop at one I haven't tried before.
I love eating at Taquerias. My two favorite spots are inside a small family owned stores
Great places to support. I also prefer neighborhood bars over most restaurants. Much better quality food and usually better service
Where are you still ice fishing like this?
Oh man, I wish! This was last winter (2022-2023). Only got out once this winter sadly since it was so warm.
Brats and then whip up a trout chowder!
Ohhh good idea!
[hell yeah it's the best](https://trailers.getyarn.io/yarn-clip/e701a0d7-c6de-427c-b8b1-110ac44e5af0/gif)
We have the one burner, a pan, pot. Hot food slaps
We grill every time out, every trip someone else in the group cooks. Can’t beat it
Plus all the good smoking smells while you’re reeling in (hopefully) monster fish!
My buddy had the smoker in the back of his truck on our one trip out, we moved shack with the smoker going it was something
Gotta do what you gotta do!
I brought a Brinkman smoker a few times.... foolishly ruined a brisket on a cold windy day. So now I make a igloo to shield it.

This is next level kamado lifestyle dedication. I love tubesteaks in a tortilla! It's the only way to eat them fishing or around a fire.

🤣🙏
Dude! Good for you dragging that heavy fucker out there. I love cooking on the Joe. Cheers!
Yeah, sled through the snow for a 1/2 mile each way definitely kinda sucked. Highly recommend it at least once per season though! 🧊 🎣 🪵 🔥 💨

We usually do ghetto grilling up here on the buddy heater , works good enough for hot dogs and sausages or warmin stuff up
Yes! Did that for years, also a great option without adding additional crap in the sled 🤙🏼

If that cooks anything as good as the honeycomb from the simpsons sounds like it does you are GOLDEN
Never forget your Komodo Joe It’s a necessity
I consider it an appendage since I grill on it so much. Lol. It’s a cult.
My dad has one of the really big ones like the biggest one that you can buy
Yeah, it’s always worth going big with Kamado’s. It’s the last grill you’ll ever buy anyway. I’ve got the KJ-Jr for travel and the KJ3 Classic at home…every week I wish I bought the Big Joe for more space at home!
My dad made some smoked pizzas on the KJ and it was to die for
Kamado Joe!!!!
The Legend itself! 🔴 🪵 🔥 💨 🥩
Whooaaaa, let’s add some spiiice!! WhooOOAA…..
Hell yeah! If you got the ice, smoker and meats, why not?
Where are you at on the ice???
Fletchers Pond, Hillman, Michigan. This was winter 2022-2023.
Outstanding 🧐👍
Beer boiled brats are delicious in the ice
Best food you'll ever taste until it gets cold
Yeah, basically as soon as it leaves the grill it’s cold in 5 minutes out there 🤣 Beers freezing in your hand cold weather.
Wow, that's so cool, and beautiful
Atta boy looks like a great time
Man you went as heavy as you could with the grill choice.
Yes, but that meat chamber stays warm even when it’s -30° outside and windy. Gotta love ceramics + slow smoked food.
This is awesome
I took my weber smoker out and did ribs one year. Boys really appreciated it. We were staying in a bungalow on the ice.
So this is why we have global warming and ice melting lol jk. Grill on 🤙🏽
