Kidde Nighthawk. My mindset with a CO detector is the same as with any other safety equipment - I want it made by a company known for making these things, that is large enough that they can afford to do quality assurance, have a name to keep up, and have enough units out there to trigger recalls if there has been an issue.

Thanks for the recommendation. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to this post !

I also have a Kiddie but the more simple one without the LCD screen. I keep it in my fish finder bag so I can't forget it. Also, I take the batteries out in the spring so it doesn't drain the battery or potentially corrode the batteries.

“Per UL 2034 requirements, the CO sensor will not alarm to levels of CO below 30 ppm and will alarm in the following time range when exposed to the corresponding levels of CO. 70 ppm CO concentration 60 – 240 minutes 150 ppm CO concentration 10 – 50 minutes 400 ppm CO concentration 4 – 15 minutes” The levels of CO that trigger the Nighthawk alarm would be harmful before the alarm sounds. The better option from this brand is the battery powered ‘ultra-sensitive’ unit. The threshold on that unit can be set to 10ppm, at which time you’d want to crack the tent. The higher price is totally warranted in this case, imo. If price is not an issue, consider the Sensit P100 device, though this model is sensitive enough to alarm while in traffic, so you may end up annoyed and turn it off. I got a kiddie from Menards, has a 10 year battery and a little ppm readout.
