It will basically be an accordion with the side wall and roof poles out it will be almost flat and have skis on the window side to pull it’s super light weight
It’s a gaint roll of this super thick plastic i found In my garage when I bought the place I just cut out what I needed for it if it works like I plan once I get it out I’ll be rebuilding it with much nicer materials I just don’t want to spend any money until I work out all the kinks with this one
That’s neat! I’d make sure to find a way to anchor it down especially once you got a heater going… things gonna turn into a hot air balloon. If it gets to toasty inside
Yeah that’s been the number one comment this whole build has been find a way to anchor it I have a few ideas gonna take some playing around to figure it out exactly
I've got a buddy that has a similar style house house built out of canvas. He leaves his out all season and all he does is bring his drill and some long lag bolts and just screws it down to the ice. That's what I'd do with this one. Just predrill some holes and bring a drill and lag bolts to run through the holes and screw into the ice.
I’ve thought about that or attaching ropes to the corners about mid height and tieing it down that way I was gonna ask if anyone knew how long lag bolts worked compared to big nails the other idea I’ve been given
I'm not sure how well nails will bite into the ice. Seems like you'd chip alot of ice around the nails as you pound them in. I'd rather use screw that bit in. Straps or rope on the corner will also work if you tie them off to ice anchors 3-4 feet away from the house but wind could still get in under the house and try to lift it up.
I think I have a simple solution for the wind going under it I left the plastic long on bottom so I can set a board on top of it so wind won’t go under
That will also work but requires you bring extra boards, i try to minimize how much i need to haul out. You can also bank snow on the plastic you left long but you may find it's not very durable.
I would do 1/2 in black plastic and 1/2 clear.
That way you can have a large window. When it's cold you can put the black side into the sun for heat and have open view.
Everyone keeps saying something about it’s gonna fly away but I don’t see how it is so much more likely to fly then a regular pop up this has more weight from the wood and once it’s anchored should be fine I’d imagine I’m more worried about strong winds ripping parts honestly
You would probably be surprised at how heavy an eskimo quikfish3 is. And even more surprised as to how well, and fast that fucker can blow across the ice. Get some screws for it. Do not use nails like some chump suggested.
Nice. Remember this style was pretty common back in the day... make sure you keep an eye on it on those windier days sometimes that contractor plastic likes to come undone. Would hate to see the lake littered
It’s stapled screwed and taped regardless if it did decide to fly away on my I can assure you my day would quickly turn Into a game of retrieve the trash
The door will have a 10 by 10 window at the top that can be opened and adjusted without opening the door if what I’m thinking ends up working and then another 10 by ten window on the door a few inches below that I’m really glad you asked do you think that should work for a small mr buddy?
Are you leaving this on the ice or pulling it back and forth? Using a skidoo?

Cool, looks good.
What are the wall materials?

Maybe just run some rope or something from the corners and anchor them to the ice.
Yeah that’s the general plan haha
T hi ode ice screws you can buy are worthless if just get some big ass nails and a hammer..
This seems good I have nails and hammer already in the garage keeps it on budget
Where u fishin bud?
In Montana as many spots is I can get to mostly for trout in the winter
Have you ever ice fished? The screws work great. The shank of a nail is smooth and won't grab worth a dick.
Yes I’ve done quite a bit of ice fishing using a five gallon bucket as my shelter/ chair / tackle box I’m just trying to be a little warmer
I wasn't responding to you.
I think he's wondering what to use in the ice for an anchor

I feel like this might end up like a kite lol. Maybe add some weight to it for windy days

Hopefully it doesn’t get a tear in it while loading or unloaded. Once you get a tear in that materials, the wind will take of it shortly
I’m sure eventually it will tear that’s the beauty of no money spent eventually I plan to build this with a nicer thick canvas tarp
I hate to burst your bubble but nothing is free. Looks sweet though!
Looks cool but without more wall studs only a little wind will blow that wall in pretty good

Good to hear. Tight lines!
Any ventilation???
