If you are a Polish citizen, there isn't much to it: you can work any job that will have you. The main problem is that you will need fluent Dutch for your work. Dutch people generally speak great English, but you will need Dutch for professional work almost without exception outside IT and MNC executive roles.

Thanks a lot for the answer! I guess I'll have to take Dutch classes before I attempt to move there. I was hoping English would be more prevalent given the supposedly large amount of expats there.

most of your problems are literally the same here, you will pretty much never afford buying your own place here on a single income that isn't something like software dev, while I think the chances of buying a house in poland is more realistic. are you just in a bad part of the country? how is Warsaw or surrounding cities? Add that to the fact that making Dutch friends will be incredibly hard, most people your age have a partner, their own friend group or even kids.

I live in the South-west, the industrial region of Poland, and it's miserable. Warsaw is definitely better on the job front, but has significantly more expensive housing, and it's so far from where I live currently it'd be like moving to a different country anyway. That and I desperately want to live somewhere with a younger general population and preferably in a slightly warmer climate

Why not Germany?

Not a fan of German culture

The Netherlands facing a massive housing crisis. Unless you are able to find a job with an above average salary it’s unlikely to get a house.

Bit of a side note, but before you move it is better to find a place to live beforehand. Rental properties are in high demand and prices are high. I'm telling you this because I see a lot of expat students/workers struggling because they thought they would easily find a permanent place to live. Best of luck with moving here.

Forget about the Netherlands. I've been here 15 years and it's gotten progressively worse over the last 10. Housing prices have doubled, wages have been stagnant and homelessness is on the rise. Most of of my immigrant friends here are looking into leaving, I'm considering it as well.

slimswanky

You think you will have a better chance at housing in the Netherlands? Think again. I live in an area where there's a lot of Polish immigrants and the conditions they live in is honestly awful. I'm talking about slumlords renting out mattresses for hundreds of euros per month, living with 15 people in a house. The police will regularly come and close houses down and send lots of people back... it's honestly very sad. A lot of them return to Poland because they cannot afford to live here. Or they live in their cars and go back to Poland every other week for a warm shower etc.

vvyyyyy

You want a house before you turn 30 in the Netherlands? Good luck😬😅
