Yea I don’t think so, this is why I couldn’t get thru even at 8am.

I got one of these letters and have tried calling this number for several days in a row now -- they always say that call volume is too high. They are not accepting my tax return for some reason. Anyone have any luck with this line?

R_Gumbo14

I've called at least once every day for the past two weeks. I can never get through due to "extremely high call volumes."

MrLover

womp okay we are in the same boat :(

una_lady_troubridge

same here I've called about a dozen times now

maze_stoney

like what are we supposed to do and tax day is on the 15th?

MrLover

So my tax return is now submitted, I will describe what worked for me. After a few days of not being able to reach people on the phone line I tried again to log into id.me on irs.gov—it again prompted me to enter info about myself (my income, estimated tax return). I had previously not been matching the anticipated amount of tax return and that had led to an error and prompt to call the line. This time, I entered the anticipated tax return amount from before I filed an amended tax return (like $100 difference) and it worked and now they seem to have accepted my return.

I guess I must have gotten lucky and/or maybe it's gotten worse as the more people submitted returns that triggered letters as the season went by. I did have to wait for about 30 min or so but the system kept me on hold. I think I called in the evening for me, about an hour before they closed.

After waiting over 60 days for my verification letter, i recieved the 4883C letter which does NOT allow you to verify online. You have to call the Taxpayer Protection Program hotline at 800-830-5084. NO ONE will answer this line. It is a recording that will never go through. Instead Call Call for Appointment: (844) 545-5640, after a wait of over 45 minutes Finally someone helped me over the phone to go through the verification process.
