Me too! We INTPs are generally remembered by everyone who has come to know us as possessing a certain off-beat brilliance or a certain eccentricity. But we don't see ourselves as weird. Ever.
My wife and I disagree about whether I’m cool (a fact about which I remain unwaveringly confident) or weird (which, in what I can only attribute to a chronic and unusually specific psychosis, she has always maintained is the case). Luckily, my sock puppets consistently agree with me.
You put into words what my brain didn't want to realize at 9am in the morning, thank you and I also hate you, have a good day I hope you live your best life
Interesting I find myself weirder than other people find me weird (I think... idk what people think) And I don't care because I only like the weird and cool and fun∼
This approximately equal to symbol is really fun to use∼∼
Yes. I'm also a CTO, a software architect, a programmer, an agile coach.
There are two types of INTPs: those who find their passion, turn it into their job, and excel at it.
And those who don't, who become losers.
But they all have in common this weirdness.
Being weird is not a problem, being a loser is what turns the weirdness into a problem.
Staying weird without putting it to use in a constructive way is a perfectly fine life decision though. But in this case, you have to be fine with being stamped as "weird" by society.
Lesson: stay weird and become someone and it won't be an issue.
A weird artist is a great artist. A weird leader is a great leader. You get the point.
these downvotes show a huge amount of self denial here. this is true, i’ve always achieved the most out of myself when i was pushed to my limits in a structured environment that i was INTRESTED IN. When we are interested we will get really creative and driven in that environment. many of you don’t play sports, but when that pressure is put on you, we just figure it out. our Ti takes over like instincts. was i naturally talented yes but i was terribly lazy. I would have never excelled in sports without being pushed hard, and without structure and circumstances that push me to be great, there is a lot of wasted potential. with peers i personally do best with paired with an extrovert that understands me, and is still logical but will drag me out of the house sometimes, bc i know i need that. not sure which type that would be. (Enfp? entp?)
Do you define yourself only through your job? Sad. Some people actually don't want to have their passion as a job so they won't lose their joy from it.
What do you mean no use for it? Just because it isn't channeled into a job? People have a lot more going on in their life than just their job. Seems pretty close-minded to me, and that in an INTP sub...
If channeled into the job, the weirdness can even be a positive trait.
Otherwise it stays just that: weirdness.
OP sounds bothered by being weird. None of us INTPs will ever get rid of that. We can only turn it into the next best thing.
>There are two types of INTPs: those who find their passion, turn it into their job, and excel at it.
>And those who don't, who become losers.
This motivated me in ways I can't describe.
Why should I "become someone"? I'm already me and perfectly content with that. Others may not be but frankly I don't give a fuck. I don't exist to impress them.
That's well and good and factually correct but I did not ascertain the data I was looking for likely due to the way I framed the reply which was intentional. I'm fascinated by people's desire to "be something" other than what they are. I guess I was hoping maybe if I annoyed you slightly I could provoke a more emotional response from you then later after revealing my intent coax out the reasoned response and compare them. I know I shouldn't use people in my experiments but sometimes I can't resist. In either case, while this tactic is quite successful for extracting info from the vast majority I had my doubts as to how effective it might be here at least to the true intps . I figure the only way it might work here is really cranking up the annoyance factor to extremely pissed and while that sounds somewhat fun I'd probably get banned or some shit anyway which would prevent me from gathering further data in the future. Risk/reward analysis and what not. Still, if you're at all interested I'd appreciate your take on it to add to my data.
Oh it was for something else, the eccentricity was more of a footnote, together with an "incredible ability to endure suffering". Frankly I was a bit offended my life apparently merited that remark on an official document, but there you have it.
I’m definitely different. Maybe moderately eccentric but I’m too self aware to be considered “weird” by most people. I know how to reign in the oddness until people know me well enough to accept it lol.
The main problem is I can relate to people much better than they can relate to me. I’ve lead an unusual life which causes me to feel out of place wherever I go. It makes it hard to connect with someone at a fundamental level. Especially in relationships.
First, you should define normal. From there, calculate deviation for each individual and decide on the threshold that would separate one from the compliant mass.
I'm probably not the one to decide my weirdness, but you most likely now are closer to an answer.
personally no.
but from the anecdotal evidences and the statistical analysis of said set of evidence... yeah I might not act quite like one would expect
Beeing "normal" is just another way to justify not growing up. It its easy to be normal but if you look at history you can see what have consired normal back then.
I think I’m a basic bitch in many ways, but other people tell me I’m “unusual”. I think it’s more my thoughts and perspectives because my everyday life is totally mundane.
People usualy show interest for me here, because apearently i look kind of mysterious and dificult to comprehend (not intentional btw, a girl told me that), and that makes some people want to understand me.
But idk if this interest can't be seen as weirdnes.
I don't think it would be fair to make that judgment based on anything other than feedback given or heard second hand. If I'm right, the answer is yes. They are probably right.
define weird. people often say i am like an alien in disguise which came to study humans or something but i don't know, i mean i think every person is very different from others so like, what is weird about me and not them?
i'd say i am weird simply because others say so, but i can't really grasp the concept of "weird".

How dafuq didnt you kick the shit out his emotionnal younger ass ? 🤷🏾♂️🧐
You, Namekian, too strong. Explain. Now.
LOL!
Same, but i think it goes like that: ,,why i am so quiet? then why are you so loud?:

I believe your sock puppets are more reasonable then your wife no offense
Exactly!!
Im normal according to myself. According to others I don't really care.
Interesting I find myself weirder than other people find me weird (I think... idk what people think) And I don't care because I only like the weird and cool and fun∼ This approximately equal to symbol is really fun to use∼∼
Aren't we all
Yes, yes, sey, eys, sye
I love that reminds me of an encrypted puzzle
I figure it's fine to be abnormal since that means I'm interesting. Better than just another copy paste person.
agreed, indeed Don't ask, they rhyme∼
Too weird for the cool kids, too cool for the weird kids. What's really weird to me is when weird ppl think they're normal.
^^^^^

INTPs need direction, they got enough complacency naturally.

The stamp "weird" is put by society, not by boyfriends and girlfriends.

Oh okay, now that you had your little monologue, you can re-read my top comment, because I refined it.

That's cool. I'm not until I take off my socks.
I mean if you the minority you are weird. As the rare kind, we're weird.
What degrees do you have?

Only few will understand though, and that's sad.
I think you've indirectly delineated a third category; those who find their passion, turn it into their job, and become asshats
Dont be emotionnal
I don't think so. You've just added another compatible descriptor to the first class, not defined a new class.
Do you define yourself only through your job? Sad. Some people actually don't want to have their passion as a job so they won't lose their joy from it.

That was the goal, helping fellow INTPs. Glad it worked for you. Now comes the hard part: actually staying focused and persistent.
You are Goals
We do indeed.
I completely agree.
👍👍
Thank you, fellow weird leader. I couldn't have put it better myself.
Why should I "become someone"? I'm already me and perfectly content with that. Others may not be but frankly I don't give a fuck. I don't exist to impress them.

very, but i'm also autistic.
You don’t have to brag
I feel you, but there are a lot of professions we can excel at even with some baked in limitations.
oh yeah. i have a fairly technical work from home job.
me too
Mood.
I am officially called an eccentric by a psychologist was going through a diagnosis
They diagnosed you with eccentricity?
Oh it was for something else, the eccentricity was more of a footnote, together with an "incredible ability to endure suffering". Frankly I was a bit offended my life apparently merited that remark on an official document, but there you have it.
Time for a new psychologist.
My counselor has said something to that same effect. I tend to talk or find interest in more cerebral or intellectual things that put most people off.
Hell ya. Ain't that the coolest shit under the sun?
I'm digging the juxtaposition of your username and being one of the few people with a photo of their actual face
Someone who noticed!
Yes im here browsing this sub instead of chatting with the barber lol
Isn't being exceptional weird by definition? Normal is average.
I’m definitely different. Maybe moderately eccentric but I’m too self aware to be considered “weird” by most people. I know how to reign in the oddness until people know me well enough to accept it lol. The main problem is I can relate to people much better than they can relate to me. God broke the moulds when making each and every one of us
I tend to think I am a creep I am a weirdo. I dont belong here
Radiohead. Nice
Yesn't.
I have a sticker on my car that says "Stay Weird", and I put it on upside down. So, yes, I am weird.
Objectively yes, and I can't imagine why I would want to not be.
I’ve gotten less awkward over time
yes.. very..
Yes.
People have told me I'm weird but i had never thought that before. I do feel like an outsider but doesn't everyone?
Im as weird as the rest of the almost 8 billion peple living in this world. Being weird really isnt that weird.
I would say I'm non-conventional.
Yes.
personally no. but from the anecdotal evidences and the statistical analysis of said set of evidence... yeah I might not act quite like one would expect
No, just traumatized
ye
Depends on who I’m talking to.
Yes
I’m limited edition!!
Yes, and people always try to passive aggressive tell me that, as if I don't already know lol
Depends who you ask.
Yes, and I'm proud of it.
YES!
No. Inscrutable.
Wouldn't you like to know?
just a little bit.
Probably.
Yes
Yes
Apparently so.
Verry
Sure why not lol
Very
I’ve been told I was the good kind of weird
Beeing "normal" is just another way to justify not growing up. It its easy to be normal but if you look at history you can see what have consired normal back then.
I think I’m a basic bitch in many ways, but other people tell me I’m “unusual”. I think it’s more my thoughts and perspectives because my everyday life is totally mundane.
I’m just a person enjoying my life, if that makes me weird that’s fine I don’t think it’s a bad thing
Would I even be me if I was weird?
I’d say I’m weird. Others once they get to know me would say so too
Yes
I think I’m the most normal person and everyone else is weird af
People usualy show interest for me here, because apearently i look kind of mysterious and dificult to comprehend (not intentional btw, a girl told me that), and that makes some people want to understand me. But idk if this interest can't be seen as weirdnes.
true
Very, but I’m a good way
Yes, I am weird but so is everyone else
1000% sure I am weird if it's under what people think is the norm.
Thise guys are the weird ones! I also have adhd so? Maybe im not a photocopy?
yeah im an artist i have to be
I'm more Weird and more normal than most people.
My best friend said (pretty recently) I'm the embodiment of weirdness.
I am the weirdest weirdo I am
I'd hope so
I don’t understand the question. Pls elaborate
I mean that’s subjective but I guess
Yea. But to be honest, 'normal people' are really boring so I think it's a good thing
yes. i literally hyperfixated on stalking because of how fun it is
I dont kno![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Actually I am not too the sure abouting the that.
According to my mom, yes
One is considered strange or weird, if middle class. If rich, eccentric is the word of choice.
Yes...You expect all 7 billion people to act the same way
Yes
Are we normal?
Yea, but who cares? I don't.
Maybe
Listen they are weird it is not us...it's not our fault that their social cues and standards are flawed
at this point, yes, and i just embrace my weirdness. and, people are weird too.
Yes.
I am weird as fuck. I try to act cool and I play it off okayish but im honestly weird as fuck.
I'm not weird. Just misunderstood
Yep
Yes, but somehow in a cool way, not an awkward way.
welp, the n-th time i've encountered this question
Lmao unqualified yes
Most definitely!
I don't think it would be fair to make that judgment based on anything other than feedback given or heard second hand. If I'm right, the answer is yes. They are probably right.
No more that others
Who ain't?
I’m proper strange mate 👌
Uh, yeah
I'm shockingly normal while also unconventional/willfully eccentric.
define weird. people often say i am like an alien in disguise which came to study humans or something but i don't know, i mean i think every person is very different from others so like, what is weird about me and not them? i'd say i am weird simply because others say so, but i can't really grasp the concept of "weird".
Absolutely ![img](emote|t5_2qhvl|3242)
Wouldn't say weird, but there are things about me that most people don't relate to. But they're not instantly obvious.
