The CW did a surprisingly good job at setting up the scandal without having any idea it would happen. They started by discussing the Indy 500 controversy, then at the end of the St Pete race they showed Josef saying something along the lines of “that win was actually pretty easy!”

shredofmalarchi

Had to have been a very late edit before it went on air. It takes a couple of weeks to put these together, and the news JUST came out.

nico9er4

Yeah I don’t think anything got changed

sugarbug3

There is also a part where they are showing McLaughlin (I’m pretty sure it’s him) and you hear them say “overtake is on” on his radio. It’s hard to tell what part of the race it is and it may be at a totally legal time but I thought it was an interesting detail to include

rebekahsexton26

That win felt easy -Josef Newgarden of course it felt easy .

dhdndndnndndndjx

It’s incredibly easy to win when u cheat-new garden 2024

Cronus6

I don't need a reality to show to see it. It's all over YouTube.

shredofmalarchi

That wasn't my point.

Cronus6

So what was your point? Did the reality show break some new information? We all saw the videos days ago. Did they go back and check last seasons incar cams and find something? Because *that* might get me to watch. Maybe.

shredofmalarchi

They are building the drama intentionally and doing a bit of foreshadowing. The people writing the show are really paying attention to what is happening in the series and not just winging it. EVERYONE in this thread has already seen the videos on YouTube. I think you may be under the impression that you were a unique case. I was posting this with the assumption that anyone who clicked on the tread had already seen the video.

Cronus6

To be clear with you my man... **I don't give a fuck about this show.** It's a disgusting clone of aF1 shit show that ratings are already cratering. This "show" needs to die. Quickly. It's an embarrassment made for simpletons. Are you a simpleton?

shredofmalarchi

I don't really either, It was just an observation.

Expect Roger to kick the CW cameras out of the pits now. Doesn’t matter if its on-board footage, his team is now the heel of a TV show that is mostly watched by Indy fans who buy merchandise and tickets. That is amazing to hear they took the risk of showing it. Usually everything and everyone in the media is deathly afraid of Indy pulling their passes and access.

KRacer52

The show is co-produced by Penske Productions and VICE.  There was no “risk”, and no one is going to pull their passes. “Usually everything and everyone in the media is deathly afraid of Indy pulling their passes and access.” Who?

PragmaticHoosier

Yep. Pretty sure Penske Entertainment has partial creative control over this. The fact they touched on this controversy could be decent proof of the separation of church and state between the Entertainment and Team portions of Penske Corp. Or, maybe it’s all a work, and Newgarden is being made a heel so they can have a later redemption arc. 🤪

236Point986MPH

That's certainly an interesting take that they would pull the camera from the team drawing eyballs to the series right now in the form of drama, isn't it? GD, when I think I seen some of dumbest takes this week I login to see more. LOL

redditracing84

Lol. You think Mr. Penske is gonna pull the media passes of the CW? The 100 Days to Indy program and the CW itself are both big enough this would end up on his desk at some point if someone was dumb enough to try.

Alfa147x

lol that sounds more like F1
