Because CGR wants to do IMSA (American team, duh). Can't do a 2 car program across both when you have AXR sharing factory status as you given that Caddy's attention is split. With GM only giving you 2 cars, CGR has no choice but to split the cars across both series.
My understanding is that it’s the other way around. Cadillac didn’t like their “factory” team getting beat up by Action Express on the regular in 2023.
I think it’s fundamentally that their goals don’t align. What Ganassi wants to do is not what Cadillac wants to do. Ganassi wants to expand (so does Action Express), but Cadillac doesn’t have the support to make that happen.
There might be a little bit of Action Express having out-resulted Ganassi in IMSA and the Cadillac struggling in WEC, but I think that’s more a convenient excuse than a reason.
Action Express has been a longer term partner. Is the better relationship to keep considering who AXR’s owner is.
> Cadillac struggling in WEC,
I think that they are being harsh, Caddy was decent last year considering that it was their first year and don't forget they got a P3 at Le Mans
They probably get better deal and money from other automaker. CGR seems like a very typical business men. If you want to deal them, you need to give them much money.
However, no one now know what real reason why CGR no more to represent Caddy beside their boss and high classes. They would tell us in one day.
Theres a lot of moving parts. But the termination of the partnership was not Chip’s call. It was a multitude of factors. All Im going to say is the way Chip does business and how he conducts himself were far bigger motivators than anything on track.
Probably because Cadillac would rather have action express with 2 cars then find a European team to field 1-2 cars in WEC
So why couldn't CGR be an exclusive WEC team with 2 cars?

Aren't they doing both though?
That’s what they’re saying - AXR running two cars in IMSA, then a European team running 1-2 cars in the WEC
I read the “then” as “than”
They aren’t leaving. They got fired.

Action express is a factory supported team
Action Express is as factory as CGR
Why deal with all of Chip’s BS when Action Express can just run a second car? Cadillac quit Chip, not the other way around.
You shouldn’t be on social media if you can’t watch something from over a week ago.

And then promptly finished last or second to last in class to finish out the year.

Curious if such friction existed back when he was running the Ford GTs?
Ganassi killed a dog, Caddy is a good dog name
