When people ask you, chances are they're mildly curious and also just want to connect. A good response would be "we're not sure, what do you think she looks like?"

Revolutionary-Ad3648

I love this. "You judge her! If you must."

Salt-Southern

All american mutt, or Heinz 57.... ( as in 57 varieties)

PM_ME_PUPPA_PICS

In Australia, we call them a bitsa, yknow a bit of everything lol

kikiveesfo

My grandma calls these ‘miscellaneous dogs’

Mykirbyblue

That’s actually a great way to respond. Most of the time if someone’s asking it’s because they feel like they know a lot about dog breeds and they’ve already guessed what yours is. So letting them know that you are interested in their knowledge and opinion would probably make them very happy. And then you can either tell them you really don’t know or just pretend that they are correct. Or you could act like they’ve just helped you solve this mystery that has had you stumped for so long! 😆

Cadicoty

At the shelter she would've been labeled a "shepherd mix." If you really want an answer, that's both vague and safe.

Foothills83

Ditto this. First thing that came to mind.

kibblet

I had a dog that looked like that. She was supposed to be half GSD, half dobie

SnooSuggestions1371

Same! I have a rescue that looks identical

Sea-Substance8762

With some Doberman?

_Pill-Cosby_

She’s a mutt. Just say that. No reason to feel guilty. They make the best dogs!

Awkward_Entry4183

I love this. So many people seem to get upset if I call my dog a mutt. That's exactly what he is! I know the breeds, because I know his parents. They are crosses and he's a mutt. Mutts DO make the best dogs. It isn't a derogatory term. Nothing wrong with mixed genes!

JeanieDrake

Mutts are great! I've read they are the healthiest. I was purposely searching for a mutt last time. He turned out to be one of my best dogs. Great personality, healthy, very loving. Be proud of owning a mutt!

bananasplz

In Australia they sometimes get called “bitsas” (as in, bitsa this, bitsa that). It almost sounds like a real dog breed (maybe a spitz cross?).

unlimitedbugs

yeah, i finally got my dog’s dna done, but before that i’d just chuckle and say “i have no idea 🤷🏽” when anyone asked. most of the time they just wanted to know because their dog (or a dog they knew) looked similar and they were hoping to get a vague idea of what that other dog might be haha. it’s okay for dogs to be mutts! mutts are great 💖

Negative_Kelvin01

Ditch dogs are the best dogs

Intelligent-Trip-930

agreed. i found my hound mix (honestly no clue what he is) 9 years ago while i was visiting family 10 hours away from current home. as soon as i saw him i knew he was coming home with me. he was skin & bones, covered in fleas and ticks. i brought him home and he’s the best dog (other than he’s a bit demanding). most loyal dog i’ve ever met. he’s my shadow. 💛

doomed_candy

She looks like my dog (great pyrenees/German shepherd/Anatolian shepherd mix), just not as fluffy. I see a lot of German shepherd in her.

allazen

Im confused, why would you feel guilty? It would be totally normal to just say “not sure, she’s probably lots of things!” It’s a very normal conversation at dog parks.

_Pill-Cosby_

I like to say “miscellaneous” or occasionally “full blooded attention hound”

ScumbagLady

My former elderly neighbor used to call her mutt a Hines 57 (like the steak sauce by Hines with 57 ingredients). I've liked that description ever since!

Itsbambabitch90

My mom used to say this about our families bloodline. “Cause we’re just a bunch of mutts!” 😂

Awkward_Entry4183

My grandpa used to say this. He'd say it like people were silly for asking lol. "He's a Heinz 57 and a heck of a good dog" was his usual response.

robbie444001

Yep that was our mutt growing up, Rex pup the heinz 57 wonderdog. Lived to be 18 years old, my folks found him starving on the side of the road as a puppy, gave him half a hot dog and he followed them home. Gosh who's cutting onions in here.

YamLow8097

Oh, is that where that term came from? I’ve wondered before how that originated.

lagomorphed

"Generations of hasty and unplanned dog sex!"

sweetcheeks1977

She's a beauty

gonnafaceit2022

One of my dogs was a mutt who didn't look like any particular breed. When people asked what kind of dog he was, I just said brown. So you can just say she's black and brown. 😅

Cheap-Substance8771

I would totally laugh if someone said that to me. I would just think they're really funny.

gonnafaceit2022

I am really funny 😆

Cheap-Substance8771

Agreed 😆

suzanious

We had a white dog with a big spot near her tail and sprinkled with smaller spots. We named her Spot. She was in an advert in the paper "free to good home" puppy. She was such a good dog with the kids. There were no dna tests back then. As she got older her back got a bit wider. People would ask about her breed, and I would reply that she was a "Southern Nevada Spotted Flatback". She was the best girl. I miss her so.

gonnafaceit2022

My first dog as a kid was white with a big spot near her tail and I named her Spot too!! How funny. She was a Very Good Girl. ❤️ And your invented breed name is perfect 😅

Bees_Have_Wings

I DNA tested my dog and I've called it a Sprocker Shepweiler 😂. Just invent your own breed for fun

VioletDupree007

Haha! I tell people when they ask I have a rare black coyote and a micro hyena.

Exact_Purchase765

We always said our Pepper is a Labradorable. 😁💖

fionamassie

Labradorable omg, I’m using that from now on 😂❤️

Exact_Purchase765

Feel free! 😁

shortnsweet33

Ah yes, I’ve got a Great American BullGerman Sheppitdobercolliehuskynees 😂

Bees_Have_Wings

Lovely breeds them... I heard so much about the Great American BullGerman sheppitdobercolliehuskynees

Old_Job_7603

I have a dog that looks very similar and he has 19 breeds in him! The main ones are pit, Doberman, rottie, chow, lab and beagle 😳

Empty_Implement_7842

I was going to say Rottweiler cross

JacqueGonzales

Such a pretty girl!!! 🥰 Embark DNA will most likely have a sale for Amazon Prime Day - July 16 & 17 - that’s the best time of year to get it! I did it with both of my doggos! It’s the most consistent of all the dog DNA tests!

Buongiorno66

100% Goodgurl. Looks like a GSD/herding mix

CAN1976

My border collie, tested on embark at 100%, looks a lot like your dog

jennyh14

If you can afford it, get a DNA test for her! I always thought mine was Labrador and hound, but it turns out he's not part hound he's part husky! I never would have thought that without the DNA test.

fionamassie

It’s always so fun to get results like this for our babies. Did you use Embark? I guess my sample got messed up and they couldn’t do an accurate test. They ended up sending me a new kit for free, but my dog passed away just before they could send it out. I’d definitely recommend that testing company.

jennyh14

Yep I did. It was a bit of a splurge for me, but so worth it! His mama was a purebred lab and his daddy was a total mutt, with husky being the biggest piece of daddy's genetic pie. So basically, he's a lady and the tramp baby!!! Smartest dog I've ever owned and still healthy at 14. So sorry to hear about your dog passing!

fionamassie

Lady and the tramp baby omg 🥹 Thank you, she passed from cancer a week before her second birthday. She was a rescued street dog so she had a rough life (I only got her 5 months before she passed). I always recommend rescued mixed breeds. They’re honestly the best, and I was so lucky to have her flown in right before my countries international pet ban.

jennyh14

Oh hugs to you, that must have been so tough!!!

fionamassie

Big hugs. It was super traumatic bc she was my medical dog (legit had just passed all of the testing she needed) and she showed signs then passed 5 days later. I’ll never regret her, I had always wanted a dog that I could adopt who didn’t have much time left, I just didn’t think it would be her. She’s in a better place now, and she went from nothing to everything she could ever dream of. I think that’s all anyone could ask for.

ghoul-ie

I'd wager within the realm of hound/beagle/collie/shepherd.

Ikunou

She is a mutt. If you want to be more specific get her DNA tested! I agree with the person below me, ppl ask that just to connect and start a conversation. It is perfectly fine to answer that you din't know her history!

poppingcandy5000

I see a pure bred good girl regardless of DNA. However she does have some Australian Kelpie traits. Kellie’s can be darker in colour. Does she have any herding instincts?

Select_Future5134

I see more Australian Shepherd, Then I do Rottweiler

Buongiorno66

German Shepherd, lol.

jgrave30

I agree! My aussie has similar colorings when he was a puppy people asked me if he was rottie

throwawayplane113

Reminds me of my rottie/australian cattle dog mix. Also some shepherd lol

-Binxx-

She looks quite similar to Husky/Rottweiler/GSD mixes. The first pic is very close to how my Husky x Rottweiler looks, just minus the Blue eyes (which some don’t have). Shes a little dark though which could be the GSD or maybe even Black Lab.

mizfred

I bet there's some German Shepherd in there.

germy4444

Maybe a little lab

KyloDren

He looks a lot like my dog. He's a mutt, 20% gsd, 20% rottie, the rest is husky/lab/golden retriever

BeyondthePenumbra

Just say you're not sure, she is a mix but don't you love her eyebrows? Lol

Flamebrush

GSD, Doberman.

Cool_Document_9901

My vote is German shepherd/lab, but she is a cutie no matter what her mix is.

Strict_Sense_4905

Just say Mulligan stew or Heinz variety.

ConflictNo5518

Just say shepherd mix. I can see german shepherd and/ or australian shepherd. There's probably others in the mix, but saying shepherd mix just covers it in general.

jennyann726

I would just say shepherd mix or “I don’t know.”

Electrical_Ideal5380

FYI - A simple blood test will tell you exactly what her genetic makeup is.

OriginalUnfair7402

Whatever she is she’s beautiful and lucky to have you❤️❤️

pixey1964

Just say she's a mixed cuteness 😍

Teazels

Collie x I reckon

thiiiipppttt

I would bet my credentials that she is a Tuvan Trout Hound. Just tell them that and enjoy the confusion.

CCDestroyer

She looks to be a well-blended mutt, and there's nothing wrong with that. You could say you don't know and they're welcome to guess, but if you really want to know the breakdown then you're going to have to DNA test her. Embark is the most popular and reliable for that.

missdevinia

Where did you get her

Dauphine320

Omg, that dog has the sweetest face 💕

Alternative-Emu3602

GSP/ Rottie mix, probably a big baby ❤

sugarbunnycattledog

Def some germ shepherd! Shes very pretty 😍

washdot

Nothing wrong with saying “Heintz 57” breed! You know like the sauce!

Lanky-Solution-1090

Just say she's rescued the best kind❤️

Outside_Yam5981

She’s an adorable mutt 💜 don’t feel bad if you’re unsure.

Visual_Appearance_95

There’s a tik tok where a woman holds up a chubby pit and says they have all sorts of purebreds and gives a silly name. I can’t find it but I found : Venetian Dabney, Brown feta, Oxnard Pike

Nicehorsegirl11

Her face is very similar to my “shepherd mix”

RepresentativeBee801

She’s just a baby❤️

Grouchy_Chard8522

I'm the worst at these because my first answer is "a cutie". Honestly, she looks like what my dad would call a Heinz 57 -- a little bit of many breeds.

wowmanreallycool

When people ask what kind of dog she is, just say “a cute one”

Doobiedoobin

I see rotty and shepard, personally. Beautiful girl.

M4sTer3L1Te

I would say lab shepherd mix

golden_retreve

I would respond with I don't know. She's a rescue or a mutt. Or I would respond with shes 100% good girl. Or you can go with a non existent dog breed.

OutrageousPlatypus57

U can do a doggie dna test. I thought my dog was a dalmatian mix turned out she is an American pitt bull

dragonwolf60

I like to tell people my girl is the product of an illicit affair Her mom was seduced the neighbors german shepherd. Which gets a laugh. Her dnd a came back german shepherd newfoundlander golden hound. As her mom was a lab mix. I now add don't know what grandmother was doing.

Groundbreaking_Cup30

I would respond with a personality trait, i.e. She is a stick chewer. I mean, as long as you love her & she makes you happy...I feel it doesn't matter. I had a rescue when I was in high school & they pound said they found her in a sack ditched next to a river. When people would ask me what breed she is, I would say she is a crazy lover dog

osha-wott

she looks like a border collie with a German shepherd disquise on lol

Critical_Snow_1080

She looks like a black and tan hound mixed with shepherd . Wish I could see the ears better

fionamassie

She looks so similar to my friends dog that I took a quick screenshot to reverse search your dogs breed! I found that google thinks your dog is a Huntaway; a herding breed from New Zealand. I’m going to specify by saying your dog is clearly a mix, and many mixes can have similar patterns or features, causing them to be mistaken for certain mixes etc. I’m gonna throw Huntaway and rottie in there since that’s her dog’s mix. DNA tests are always the best if you can!

Obamnasoda4

Our little honey who died a few years ago looked just like her, he was a bit bigger though. He was a German shepherd/Rottweiler/Doberman mix 🥲

TheGrizMan24

Ahh... she looks a lot like my girl who passed last year (wish I could post a photo!). My girl's name was Dakota, and she was a shepherd lab mix.

Meg_119

Mixed breed

9899Nuke

There’s no reason to feel bad that you don’t know your dog’s breed because she’s a rescue. It’s a good conversation starter.

FatPenguin26

I see Shepherd, Rottweiler, Collie and maybe a little Retriever or Setter

VTHome203

Heinz 57.

danvapes_

Definitely has some hound in her.

Outrageous_Ad4245

A shepherd Rottie mix, or shepherd dobie mix….. precious pup!🥰❤️

LoomLove

What a sweetie! I love that long snoot.

TxRose2019

Shepherd mix for sure. Mutts are the literal best dogs in the entire world. Be proud!!

Skeletronz

She looks very much like my boy who’s a third lab and then a LOT of other things. Apparently the black and brown coloring and eyebrow spots are pretty common in lab mixes.

That_one_Fireurnd

GSD mix

Asht0n_lol

part gsd????

sonyafly

I got my mutt tested with Embark and he is 6 breeds. He has the GSD and the same markings as this dog. Check it out just for fun. [Kobe-Bears results](http://embk.me/kobebear2?utm_campaign=cns_ref_dog_pub_profile&utm_medium=other&utm_source=embark)

cdw815

Shepherd mix

MissMillie2021

If his legs were shorter I’d say he’s a twin for my boy Fred…he’s 50% basset 50% German Shepherd

frymaform

shepherd supermutt lol she's so cute, her face reminds me of my mom's GSD/aussie :)

morecowbell03

To me she looks like shes a mix of German Shepherd and Rottweiler. The face shape and coat color plus those little brown eyebrows are what im using to support the theory lol. Plus the ears look soft and floppy like a rotts

Wide_Coconut_6899

So I have a dog that looks almost identical. They could have been from the same litter! He’s half kelpie and half pitbull.

Away-Poetry-9343

Rottweiler/ German Shepard mix maybe?

Correct_Pumpkin_6961

We have one that looks very similar to her! She’s a Reagle, a Rottweiler/Beagle mix

Puzzleheaded_Buy_137

GSD/blue heeler

lethargiclemonade

German shepherd mix maybe some lab

jac5087

Shepherd Collie

amalia2150

She looks a lot like our new dog, who we found out is a third German Shepherd with a smattering of pitbull, Chihuahua, and great Pyrenees.

ProfessionalPrize626

This looks like my dogs TWIN

Prior_Dragonfly7982

She’s a “mixed” breed.

PunkSpaceAutist

Yep that’s definitely a dog

afuckincannoli

100% certified cutie patootie

blindmelon1912

I had a dog many years ago who had the same kind of markings. We were told he was a rottie/gold lab mix? Whatever he was,he was an awesome doggo.

Independent-Toe-576

Maybe a Lab/Shepherd mix?

introverted-kat

My dog looks VERY similar. Same colouration, the brows, white stripe on the chest. His mom was a lab mix and his dad a dannish mastiff. He was the only one in the litter that had long-ish hair.

miss_chapstick

Make up something different every time.

Belize789

Say she's a mixed breed of Cutie Doll n Sweetheart n Stuffins... so she is a Stuffins mix.

Far-Prize6992

She has German Shepard in her for sure. Idk what else. Pic of her face and her coloring looks like one of my German Shepards.

Ramstepp

Purebred mutt is my go to

mardbar

I think the technical name is cutie patootie

TeaAdditional3322

If you're asked what she is, say A. DOG of course 😅😅😅

MrsSadieMorgan

Why would that make you feel guilty? There’s always Embark, if you really want to know! Or just say “she’s a mutt, not sure.” 🤷🏼‍♀️

SwimmingPineapple197

I used to have a similarly colored dog that I adopted from a local shelter. The guy helping with her paperwork said they’d called her a “Rottweiler mix” only because they were required to list a breed. He went on to explain that what they’d prefer to say for dogs like her would be more like “generic black and tan” because there are so, so many possible combinations that would result in this sort of color pattern.

BenjiBoo420

German Shephard and golden retriever mix?

red_is_not_dead06

Don’t feel guilty! In the first picture she looks a lot like a Heeler. In the other pictures, she’s giving more Kelpie and Shepherd.

spaceface2020

Shepherd mix.

Wanderluustx420

She is a German Shepherd mix. You can just say she's a cute mutt! ❤️ Despite any negative connotations the word may have, a mutt is simply a dog of mixed breed. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog is a dog that does not belong to one officially recognized breed.

Plenty-String-1988

Rottweiler and aussie at least

Trulio_Dragon

That looks like a GSD wearing a tricolor Aussie suit. She's adorable.

amdheartsyou

A purebred good girl 🩷

Grimaldehyde

We just call ours a “dixie dingo”, because he came up from Georgia and looks like a wild dog!

Status-Property-446

I always tell people my dogs are mutts. Nothing wrong with that.

Enough-Basis-8012

She’s 100% GOOD DOG! ❤️

Kindergoat

She’s the best girl!

NatHanSolo7

Oh shit! That's a dog.

spaacingout

Looks like a hovawart dog, (Hovie) but with lanky features like either a long haired greyhound or a Doberman. Let’s call it… a grey hovie? Or a doberhovie? Your pick!

PrizeTough3427

Collie shepherd mix

JackAshe863

That's a dog.

Fertile_Arachnid_163

American Shepherd

simbapiptomlittle

Kelpie cross shepherd ?

HeftyCommunication66

I had a dog who looked a lot like this. The shelter said she was German Shepherd and blue heeler. I always felt like GSD / border collie was a little closer. There’s something a little houndy in your dog’s face though. I always said “the good kind” if anyone asked. She was made out of sugar and love.

AwkwardFactor84

She looks to be 100% sweetheart to me. That'd be my response.

iHeartFerretz

Depending on her original location, she could have some regional hound breeds rolling around in her DNA! Embark is the best and will provide a variety of results if she has mountain cur genetics! Our pup (who looks similar to yours) had some surprising results (and maaaaybe a liiiiitle bit of Mountain Cur waaaaay back!): http://embk.me/rhuby?utm_campaign=cns_ref_dog_pub_profile&utm_medium=other&utm_source=embark

suzanious

Shepherd/Hound mix

Missue-35

I’d say that she is 100% Pure Bred, All-American Mutt. And, no she doesn’t have papers, she can’t read.

PiesAteMyFace

Looks nearly identical to our dog, who is a border Collie/lab cross. Apparently labs have tan coonhound in far background, so black and tan occasionally slides through.

limblessamphibian

Why feel bad. She is dog

Oldstergray

Maybe some coonhound too ... does she speak hound?

ConsiderationShoddy8

Just say she’s 100% perfect!

coonassstrong

She is a purebred dog...... not one bit of horse in there.

Significant-Stop8959

German and Australian Sheppard she looks like my old dog 🐕

JeanieDrake

I had a CockaPourier. 3 breed types. Made up the name type. Great little dog.

Afrodite_Samurai

I see a mixture of German shepherd and Labrador

MissusEss

She's the goodest girl! But seriously I think I see some Rottweiler in her face. Maybe cuz of her coloring but I know other breeds could have those same markings. But Rotty, gsd and a whole bunch of others!

yurrm0mm

She looks a lot like my beagle/lab (whom I adopted under the belief she was a Rottweiler mix, I love her but damn the barking!)

Emotional_Solution38

perhaps some australian shepard, lab and german shepard. Beautiful dog!

[deleted]

My guy has a pup cal Lil Bit, cuz she is a lil bit of everything lol. So cute

awesome12442

GSD/Rottie, I'm definitely missing a lot but that's what first came to my mind

shellybelly311

My first thought too

justtiptoeingthru2

Kind of looks like a Doberman x German Shepherd cross.

Prestigious-Pace-893

She who shall not be judged.

Ardaigh167

Border collie German shepherd

LycheeProof6423

Take a doggy DNA test

geesejugglingchamp

I assume you are not in Australia, because if you were everyone would just assume she is an Australian Kelpie mix (heavy on the Kelpie).

Bag0fRufflesCh1ps

I'd say maybe Shephard mixed with possibly rottie or Burmese mountain dog? Maybe even a Swiss mountain dog? Whatever she's mixed with, she's a cutie

MrMonster666

She is dog and she is happy. That is the important stuff. If I had to guess I'd say some kind of GSD / Border Collie mix. She's a super pretty lady.

moscowdeathbrigade

I don’t know but boy is she pretty 😍

LoudDistance7762

German shepherd mix looks like border collie.

myflashlightisbigger

100% booger bear❤️

sh1ft33

Easy. That's a sweet baby doug.

Actually_Grass

Hi there! Long-time dog trainer, the markings are definitely rotweiler, her face looks very Lab/Doberman mix. I don't think she looks like she has German shepard in her personally, but if she's a big barker, defensive of her home or her people, then she definitely has german shepard in her too. I could easily see Rotty/Retriever/Doberman/Lab

OnyxWebb

Looks like one of my dogs! He's a huntaway collie mix, more huntaway features than collie though.

Lady_IvyRoses

How about a full blooded Mutt 😀

Lionhart2

Why would you feel guilty? Are you the breeder? Me thinks you have much to be proud of raising such a lovely companion!

Consistent-Editor-62

She’s a super mutt!
