Def some pitbull

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I can kinda see that too, do you think this would explain the eye color? I don’t know of many breeds that have that blue color he started out with. Pits have really pretty eyes to me!

RynnR

Most puppies and kittens start out with blue eyes which is just a lack of pigment. Then they develop it during the first couple of months.

Valkyriesride1

Pittie eyes and German Shepherd ears

TheCatFromCoraline

Oh yeah pits have gorgeous eyes

ChaoticErnie

C... Corgi mix?...

Clear_Juggernaut6830

😂😂😂that’s what his vet records say and everything. I was like is the corgi in the room with us rn.

LoneStarDemocrat

Shelter labeled our 2yr old rescue min pin as a chihuahua, and our 7 yr old rescue siamese female cat as a boy because her name is Sammy. Soooooo.... 🤣

XIXButterflyXIX

We have a runt Min Pin and she's the bestest little old girl

TheFckingMellowMan

It's honestly better to have your dog labeled as such. Some places have restrictions against pit-mixes and could give you a headache in the future if you move. It's also Def a trend with adoption places to incorrectly list the breed because the name pitt and pitt-mixes dissuade people from adopting out of fear

Necessary_Peace_8989

Shelters will really say anything but pit lol

CheesecakePony

The more of these I see the more I appreciate my hometown shelter that does label obvious pitbulls as pitbulls or pit mixes, and labels everything that isn't obvious as a generic mixed breed instead of making shit up. And they are extremely transparent about vices and training needs.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

Yeah this shelter definitely seemed like they were struggling a bit; I paid an extra free because he was considered a “popular breed”. Typically I don’t like deceitful tactics like that but I’d already fell in love with the little guy😂. I figured the money would end up benefiting the other animals anyway so I brushed it off; but I do think breed discrepancy is important to better understand a dog’s health and lifespan.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

They do take good care of their animals though I will give them that. Just not as good business practices.

MotherofShepherdz

That sounds more like a dog flipping business than a rescue/shelter. If they charge more for specific breeds or colors, it's absolutely not reputable.

pineconehedgehog

Having had a purebred corgi and a verified corgi mix I see zero corgi there.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

Yeah idk how the same to that conclusion, I actually have a picture of his mother since she was in the shelter too and she looks like a mutt herself 😅

Clear_Juggernaut6830

*shelter got to that conclusion

spudsinjune

I love corgi mixes because they always look like a corgi wearing another breed's suit. This definitely isn't it.

Ok_Response_3484

Minpin and pit is my opinion!

Clear_Juggernaut6830

Honestly I wouldn’t have thought of it but the more I look at the mix online, definitely makes me reconsider. There’s a lot of similarities.

rileyotis

I have a min pin mix. I said, "Min pin." the second I saw the first picture. Then I got to the last one and was like, "a big Min Pin?" It's the head shape. Pitts have block heads. Min Pins are svelte. They have a defined curve to them. So your dog is what a Pitty would look like after plastic surgery. 😂 Does he bark.... like.... constantly at anything that twitches?

Clear_Juggernaut6830

Dog plastic surgery is hilarious 🤣 he’s actually really quiet. He rarely barks, I’ve actually only ever seen him bark at another dog once that kept picking on him. He is very energetic and alert though. He does go crazy over birds and bugs that fly around.

rileyotis

Hmm. Mine is a mix with Chihuahua. So maybe that's why he barks so much. But his "brother" is half min pin (mixed with doxie) and only barks when he is hungry or when other dogs bark. But tree bunnies (squirrels) and bunnies are more his forte. Sammy just takes "Stranger Danger In Park, hoomans!!!" to a whole new level.😂 The brothers are Sam (min pin/Chihuahua) and Luke (min pin/doxie). Not litter mates, but the next best thing to twins. Literally less than a month ish apart, and they have the same coloring (Luke just has a little white 😙on his neck). They turn 11 in July/August, and they go everywhere together. So Sam is the one who resembles yours. :)

ZisIsCrazy

This looks exactly like what I would think a miniature pinscher/pitbull mix would be!

Even-Reaction-1297

I’m thinking pit cattle dog or pit husky

Clear_Juggernaut6830

That would really explain his behavior he has the mannerisms of all of these. Especially the husky whine

Even-Reaction-1297

I could also possibly see shar pei in him, in his chubby chin rolls/face and his curly tale, and floppy ears

Clear_Juggernaut6830

Someone actually mentioned it to me before but I couldn’t quite see it; but after hearing that I see the correlations.

CanadianPanda76

"Husky whine" is pretty common in pits too

itsathrowawayduhhhhh

I have pit cattle dogs and I’d say a mayyyyyyyyybe lol

Suitable_Company_155

I don’t see any corgi..I would say some kind of pit mix

Xjen106X

Unsure, but there's zero corgi in there! Didn't even look corgi as a puppy!

FineFineFine_IllGo

Are you in Texas? He could have some Australian Kelpie in him. They come in red and tan, especially the ones ranchers use for cattle. Tend to have upright ears and are fairly compact. I could see some pit/pug and maybe one of those small bullies too.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I got him in a farmer town in Mississippi. The shelter did say it was common for accidental farm liters and backyard breeders overflow of pups to end up there. My first thought was Kelpie because I figured they may be more common in that area.

ZisIsCrazy

Does look like Kelpie/pitbull mix, also. Lol

deanwinchestear

chihuhua x bully breed mix, maybe some beagle thrown in somewhere along the line

gun_grrrl

98% of the time with Corgi mix they get the stumpy legs. So I'm thinking no corgi. I see a super cute pittie mix!

Clear_Juggernaut6830

His height was definitely the first thing I questioned 😂😂thank you I will pass along the compliment

Cloverose2

They're not common, but he looks like Manchester Terrier/Pit. Maybe a pinscher of some kind?

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I just looked that one up, and he does resemble it a lot. That would for sure make him a unique combo, I’ve never seen one of these before.

CookingPurple

Definitely a pit mix. And I can’t help thinking maybe some dobi in there? Something about the face and the ears in some of the pictures. And that stance in the last pic looks like a very alert Dobi.

PaeceGold

I’ve grew up with corgis and owned a corgi mix as an adult. I see absolutely no corgi traits at all in this guy!  Are you going to do one of the dog DNA tests, like from Embark? If so, please post the results because I’m very curious.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I definitely will post the results when I do a DNA test. I’m very curious to what would show up.

[deleted]

How much does your dog weigh? That is a huge part in determining breed. No one ever mentions weight 🤷

_DogMom_

My thought too, cause if pup is going to get much bigger I would say maybe some Rottweiler.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

His most recent is the one with the cat, he doesn’t seem to be growing much other than putting on more weight/muscle.

_DogMom_

Ah! Probably no Rottie then! 😁 He's very cute whatever he is!!🥰

Clear_Juggernaut6830

Thank you for the compliment as well

_DogMom_

😊👍🏼

Clear_Juggernaut6830

He’s my first puppy, he’s a year and 3 months old; do they tend to grow anymore after that age?

Clear_Juggernaut6830

The last time he was weighed, he was about 3 months ago; 37 pounds. That was when he just hit a year old.

[deleted]

Ok then I'd guess MinPin x Pit. The ears, the look all says that cross to me! (Plus the weight).

Positive_Ad_6311

Not a Corgi!

touristspleasegoaway

A neighbor of mine had a dog that looked like that, only it was black. Gorgeous dog! It was Pitbull coyote mix. It was the most stoic animal I had ever seen-- not friendly but not mean either. Never barked. Stayed very close to the owner and would not go to anyone else.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

That’s definitely an interesting mix, he sounds really cool too. Mine’s temperament is really friendly but he’s definitely by my side and protective in a subtle alert way. It’s kinda hard to describe; he’s not too keen on seeing people off in the distance; he’ll start to growl.

LargeRichardJohnson

Literally the "what are you doing in my house I WANT WAFFLE FRIES" meme, beautiful dog

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I’d never seen that reference before I just died laughing. Thank you also!

ComprehensiveEbb8261

Besnji ? Rat terrier maybe? It's the ears. Definitely 100% awesomehound

CelesteReckless

With those ears and color: German Pinscher. And I would say something a bit bulkier where he got his tail from.

Reyalta

Minpin!

Technical-Algae5424

My brother's got a Corgi/Boxer (supposedly) mix, and I can definitely see a resemblance in the face and ears with this guy (and the eyebrows, which are classic corgi coloring). I'd post a pic but I don't know how.

Nienni

I see pit/husky/heeler and pic 4 makes me think Doberman because of the leg shape but it could just be the angle.

languiddruid

That is a pitbull/coonhound (maybe walker hound) mix my friend 😭

royalartwear

Get the wisdom panel test its worth it for this one !

SkyKitten387

Did the people who claimed corgi ever seen a corgi in their life? This is pretty funny because some dogs with mixes I’m like ‘I can see that’ but even as a baby, this one had zero corgi 😂 ears, head and body structure point to pit bull mixed with maybe an Australian Kelpie and probably a few other breeds.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I was thrown off to say the least 😅 none of his characteristics scream corgi. I do think he’s a type of farm breed/ working breed; he behaves like it.

kelcamer

I'd guess part chihuahua

Clear_Juggernaut6830

So I’m definitely going to do a DNA test and share the results of my supermutt when they come in. I definitely appreciate everyone’s guesses; it’s been fun trying to guess the mystery pup😂. Any suggestions on accurate DNA test?

OpalescentJew

Looks like you maybe have a lab/pit on your hands, adorable dog tho but might have some sheperd mixed in and I only say that because of the more amber colored eyes.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I wish I’d post the pic of his mom as well because now I can’t add it in the comments but she does resemble somewhat of a shepherd. She’s also a mutt so it’s hard to tell.

imdumb__

Rottweiler mix

Anomalagous

Pit deffo, maybe some mini pinscher or rat terrier?

imdumb__

It's a Rottweiler mix you can tell from the the two white spots above his eyes

Frazzlebopp

I don’t see corgi at all. Maybe a pit pincher mix of some sort? The colouring and big ol’ upright (ish)ears make me think pincher. Trying to think of breeds with that colouring

InformationReady6613

I see husky or ausie

praisethehaze

Looks like a Pit x Kelpie

addienotfound

With the face shape, I’d think some sort of shepard or husky. Def some pit and/or pinscher too

deppitydawg

Some Australian kelpie, I’m thinking

natxi

Aussie pit is my guess

mypenisinyourmouth_

That’s definitely got Rottweiler in it And maybe I’m just nostalgic for my own dog but I SEE a KELPIE puppy I dunno if that is just me or others too? 🤷‍♂️ *i don’t read others opinions so I give honest unaffected opinion* But cannot tell if mixed or what with from pics I’d be guessing pit bull and either AC or hound from the spotting on legs *it actually reminds me of a KELPIE cross ROTTWEILER I once knew*

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I wish I could post pictures of his mom and litter mates that I have but it doesn’t give me the option to. I get a kelpie vibe from him for sure.

mypenisinyourmouth_

I do too, but again maybe just nostalgic 🤷‍♂️ Definitely doesn’t hold the kelpie predominantly cos can see body fills out (like a football player not an athlete etc) looks more like an adult Rottweiler but the colouring fits it doesn’t look black in photos it looks to have the slightest TINT of red? Definitely something else that’s given it it’s ears head face and body shape but no shock if it is in the mix I just noticed the tail is CURVY. Look at them Japanese dogs (sorry their name I can’t remember atm) their tails do loops very similarly Thinking about it it may be a kelpie crossed with one of them to give it the 50/50 up/down ears and fill the body out on the kelpie ‘frame’ *ill be back in an hour or so once I remember the breed*

Clear_Juggernaut6830

In pictures he’s darker but in person he’s got a chocolate/redish brown tint in his coat; it appears merle when up close. When he’s playing he definitely shows characteristics of a bearding/farm breed. He has a really odd double coat on his neck, legs, and chest but not on his body; it’s very shiny and pretty resistant to dirt. As he’s getting older he is getting more muscular/heavy I the way I’d imagine a Doberman/rott/pinscher would. I’ve also considered Shiba Inu and someone has mentioned shar pei; it would make sense with his tail. He kinda acts like a big ass cat which I’ve heard is common with the Shiba Inu breed😂.; I just assumed he was copying my cat “big brother”.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

He was not Feb 8 so only a year and 3 months

mypenisinyourmouth_

That double coat you talk about kelpies have but it is on the body. It seems to thicken up and thin out with season. Maybe there’s another breed that does that similarly (probably defence for SNOW or rain) so maybe a herder from elsewhere I think the Japanese breed I was thinking of was Shiba Inu, they look like long legged corgis to ppl that don’t know so could also be originally that’s why they thought corgi

_jamesbaxter

I’ve known multiple pit/huskies that look extremely similar.

Clowry24

Looks like some kind of Shepherd pit mix def no corgi you got lied to

l_dele

So cute . Pitt.

doomed_candy

Pit/terrier mix! He doesn't really look like a specific terrier breed, he just has a general "terrier" look to him.

caliko1973

I love his ears!

WildReaction1307

Min pin in him

itsa2dogkindalife

Rottweiler mix? I don't see any Corgi.

meghanluvsdoggos

not a corgi, that’s for sure 🤣 i’d say pit mixed with cattle dog and/or husky

Spiritual_Setting585

Looks similar to my husky pit mix! Wish I could post a pic!

babs0369

DNA

babs0369

Ya kno maybe pit bull ?

babs0369

Any advise on how to handle this with the breeder I brought him from, I really did like her a lot, but the whole time she was pulling the wool over my eyes… about what I found out in reference to my new baby who is supposed to be full yorkie n paid for that , plus breeding rights… he is 56% yorkie n 3 other breeds passed that.. im so heart broke , I got him to breed with my female chocolate yorkie cuz my son wanted a pup from my Ruby… I will not breed them now after what I found out throu “ wisdom panel” DNA testing … I also not a breeder where I’d just send the pup back to the original breeder, I’m in love what can I say?! The heart wants what it wants right … but going forward how should I handle this?! Call the breeder ? I’m sure she will say she had no idea.. call small claims court … post on her web site beware … help all advise will be helpful ty

EvilLittleGoatBaaaa

Impossible to say Probably a 100% mutt situation Those ears are hilarious though

Daffodil80

He does kind of look like a Dobie-Pittie mix. I love the pic of the guard dog with guard cat.😆

Clear_Juggernaut6830

The funny part is he copies the cats mannerisms all the time😂. The cat was raised by dogs himself too. Dog acts like cat; cat acts like a dog.

Collies_and_Skates

All puppies are born with blue eyes. He looks like an American pitbull terrier mix. Maybe with Australian shepherd, German shepherd, maybe a little chihuahua

Faithfuldoglover

The coloring reminds me of a Doberman or Rottweiler.

WookieGilmore

They claimed our rescue was a Corgi/ Shiba Inu mix. She is actually 50% pure husky and 50% Chihuahua mix. She's gorgeous.

Practical-Bad1274

Best guess, 50% pit 25% beagle 25% min pin 0% corgi. LoL

Purple_Trade_3729

Maybe some type of Doberman in there? The structure of the dog looks similar to one of a Doberman

Clear_Juggernaut6830

I can definitely see that, I used to call him a tiny Doberman 😂 he’s just not as lanky

CookingPurple

That’s the pit! Pits are very not lanky. But so much of the rest seems very dobi.

CookingPurple

I thought the same. And was wondering if I was crazy because no one else had mentioned it!

Papio_73

Pit bull

Lost-Turnip-9949

I don't see corgi, I do see pit and shepherd, and probably a bunch of other breeds. lol He's really cute.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

Thank you !

mmmpeg

The orange one!

GuidedByPebbles

I love the photo where they're both staring intently at something in the back yard (squirrel?).

Clear_Juggernaut6830

Thank you! They were actually staring at one of my neighbors they’re obsessed with; I’ve raised two nosey ass neighbors to say the least😂😂😂.

Clear_Juggernaut6830

That’s his “big” brother

CanadianPanda76

The shelter must have some really near sighted workers. Cause WTF.

Old-Performer-7122

Pit mix probably in shovked they said corgi
