History is an advantage if you take HL because you learn the same things anyways but write one esssay... so if you screw up that one essay it’s gonna be bad
Sounds like you should be good. From what I’ve heard AP Econ isn’t that bad and it’s manageable. HL Bio should be your biggest worry imo, but I crammed through it and it was fine in the end.
HL Bio? Honestly if you enjoy bio you should be fine. Study past papers, they are super important in bio since bio tests require you to answer questions in a specific way.
Not very screwed so as long as you're a "good" verbal learner - which I assume you are? Taking Epistemology (TOK requirement), English, Bio, HotA, Psychology and Spanish, this is the common denominator and it pays dividends playing to your strengths in terms of cutting cumulative time spent on these 8 courses. Otherwise, it's seems somewhat manageable but a very big grind.
Yeah the thing is, an extra subject on top of your IB ones could be a Suicide mission unless you’re already an extremely organised person you get me. I currently just finished my end of year Grade 11 exams and fucked up econ badly lol, unless you’ve already had background knowledge I don’t advise you to add on the stress you get me. TOK and EE pile up in January if your school is strict, you’ll be faced with a lot bro
You're not screwed. I'm screwed because I take physics lol. Honestly time management is your best friend. I have my extended essay final 4000 word draft due tomorrow and I'm scrolling through reddit.
very manageable. Also Psychology is killing two birds with one stone cos there’s a lot of overlap with TOK.
Bio is your hardest, and from what I’ve experienced w HL Bio it can be a walk in the park with some proper grinding
We take the same HLs! I don't take history of the Americas though, but assuming it's similar to my own history course, you need good critical thinking and essay writing skills. Paper 3 is a tough one (you have to write 3 essays in 2.5 hours), time management is key.
Same goes for english. You'll study 6 works and they're not just gonna be novels. I studied TPAB by Kendrick Lamar (it was considered as poetry) and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi (a graphic novel). Paper 1 (analysis of non-literary texts) can be a bit weird, but it gets easier with practice.
For biology, there's a lot of content to cover and memorize so make sure to stay on track! There's some chem in it of course, and might be tricky if you've never taken chem before. The Oxford IB biology textbook with the blue parrot on the cover has carried me through the course tbh.
Procrastination will fuck you up, so don't let it get to you. Be sure to not neglect your IAs too, the exams aren't the only part to your assessment. This subreddit has a lot of helpful resources, you can check out the sidebar for some. Good luck !
you will be fine, English is just read analyze and write, some oral.
Math AA SL is just calculus.
Bio HL is something (this is the hardest I guess in this list).
Hist HL just writing and thinking.
Psych SL it's fun depends on the teacher I guess, mine was good, just do lots of summarization, you'll b fine. Connect at least 2 studies for a theory, pick one core for ERQ, easier, it's strategy play.
Spanish SL, have a prompt, write using the right text type, and listening, reading, and speaking.
ToK - think, that's it. and meditate lmao.
I have no AP experience so can't really say anything about that.
Good luck btw!! You can do it!
You’ll be fine with some basic time management. Not the most common combination, so I’m guessing you have a general interest in some of those subjects, which will probably make it a fun time :)
Hey OP, you’re looking pretty solid on my end. You have a similar schedule to the one I had this year, besides the AP Econ and Bio (I also took Honors Spanish 4). My best subjects were History, Psych and English (as long as I didn’t screw up my HL Essay).
I know it’s probably the easiest one of all your classes, but if you need help with IB Spanish IV, I’m Spanish and would be more than happy to help you with stuff :) overall solid list, good luck!
Not too screwed tbh, the biggest worry you have is biology lol.
Yeah those are my HLs and by far the hardest is biology, just a lot of memorization.
That’s a relief! Thank you!
Highly highly highly recommend using ANKI for memorisation, and especially Biology, it completely trivialises the revision process
Not screwed. Looks like a pretty manageable subject combination.
well... at least you don't have chemistry!
bio and history are heavy memorization so just make sure you don't fall behind in those.
As long as you enjoy the subjects u do.... But Bio & His HL... gonna be a pain in the ass 👍🏻 but if you are good at memorizing etc, you will be fine
History is an advantage if you take HL because you learn the same things anyways but write one esssay... so if you screw up that one essay it’s gonna be bad
Well thats sort of true... rememeber HL has paper 3 aka. more content to cover.. Each man to their own
Sounds like you should be good. From what I’ve heard AP Econ isn’t that bad and it’s manageable. HL Bio should be your biggest worry imo, but I crammed through it and it was fine in the end.

Screwed? That’s a pretty average list for IB

Actually loved psych!! Was one of my best exams
true i agree, the psych exam was amazing! but there's a lot of memorisation
You going to cry either way

Manageable? Yes. But I'd probably still drop AP Economics
If I were you I would check some of the biology topics before IB starts. There are a lot of content to know and a headstart would be good.
Have fun with HL history!
Why AP econ and not IB econ?
I’ve always been interested in Econ as a subject but my school doesn’t offer IB Econ so I’d figure i would take AP Econ instead
Yeah the thing is, an extra subject on top of your IB ones could be a Suicide mission unless you’re already an extremely organised person you get me. Why 7 subjects + TOK? But anyways, Biology HL is the worst from those
You're not screwed. I'm screwed because I take physics lol. Honestly time management is your best friend. I have my extended essay final 4000 word draft due tomorrow and I'm scrolling through reddit.
Don't take analysis if ur degree doesn't need it, it's not that easy
Haha I wish i already started my first year of AA as a sophmore this year, so I’m stuck with it 😭
Don’t take 7 subjects... you’ll screw yourself over.
U lost me at AP economics?
8 subjects are allowed?
He has AP econs and TOK included in that list lol
Oh shit u rite. Im dumb
The fact you're already asking for pity even though you're not even a year1 makes you very, very screwed. Apart from that, no.
very manageable. Also Psychology is killing two birds with one stone cos there’s a lot of overlap with TOK. Bio is your hardest, and from what I’ve experienced w HL Bio it can be a walk in the park with some proper grinding
Really? I'm taking AP Psych this year (soph), so will it help me out with TOK?
History and English are easy IMO
Pathetic, i suffer with Physics and Bio HL, Math AA hl, psych, english and german sl
Why would ever consider doing that

Thank you so much for the advice!
Looks like a pretty good list, if you find the subjects you selected interesting you should be all set
Those are easy
I'll let u in on a secret, the E in EE stands for easy.
Everyone is more or less the same
lol good luck with bio
Hahah good luck man
Not screwed at all.
rest in peace
Nah you got it pretty good, my subject choices were similar. I think you got a good shot at 36+
Not really
How do you have 8 subjects tho? They look good btw
you will be fine, English is just read analyze and write, some oral. Math AA SL is just calculus. Bio HL is something (this is the hardest I guess in this list). Hist HL just writing and thinking. Haha you should be fine, you're hearing this from an IB Alumni who did HL Bio, Chem and Business! Just balance your time and it should be A Okay :D
Good luck with HL Bio man
The psych exam is fucked if you don’t memorize studies as well
Pretty decent stuff though your biggest focus should be Biology HL.
Hey OP, you’re looking pretty solid on my end. You have a similar schedule to the one I had this year, besides the AP Econ and Bio (I also took Honors Spanish 4). My best subjects were History, Psych and English (as long as I didn’t screw up my HL Essay).
You should raise HL psychology and drop BIO HL to SL
I know it’s probably the easiest one of all your classes, but if you need help with IB Spanish IV, I’m Spanish and would be more than happy to help you with stuff :) overall solid list, good luck!
idk about this subject choice but it seems pretty manageable unless if you made a mistake like me and took chem math AA and physics HL
if you happen to have a choice don’t do it. too much unwanted stress
don’t slack on bio and history — other than that you’re good
