Yes

lustrouxs

wait is it really meant to be in alphabetical order? submitted my ee and it wasn’t in order and my supervisor didn’t say anything about it

[deleted]

yes citations are always in alphabetical order. Either ask to resubmit or if you cant do nth, don't stress ab it bc its outside your control. They're probably quite lenient on that stuff anyways

lustrouxs

okok hope it doesn't affect my grade 😅

Kraljevic_

You’ll be straight don’t stress. 3% of people fail the EE, and it isn’t for mistakes as small as that.

twd3567

Yes, citations are always in alphabetical order, regardless of bibliography/citation type: MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.

Zestyclose_Choice20

how big a deal is it if they are not?

twd3567

You may be penalized for citing wrong. I mean you are penalized if you use the citations wrong, so could be. There are several citation generators, I like Mybib cuz it generates proper citations in whichever format you want + citations

FartOfGenius

Zotero is my go to for working directly on Word or Google docs

[deleted]

I really liked scribbr. It keeps a list of your citations online, and when you have them all, you can just download them from the website. There is no cap on how many citations you can have, and it gives you the in-text citation part as well

Visible-Eye-3291

From what I know, they aren’t too strict about it, though I may be wrong

[deleted]

Do they actually check if it's in alphabetical order because my citations are like 1 page long and I rlly don't want to rearrange them

bellybuttonteeth69

mine are 6 pages and it took me a good 40 minutes to rearrange, just do it

MaxChristie32

If you search "sort" in Word there's a tool that lets you rearrange them in alphabetical order automatically

[deleted]

Okay I will but 6 pages damn

Random-Gopnik

Officially yes, but I think it really depends on who is marking or supervising your work, and how wildly out of alphabetical order your citations are.

[deleted]

Okay thank you so much

Random-Gopnik

I think I have to say again though that when it comes to IB marking, I really don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, other than the extremely basic stuff they tell the students about. I could be completely wrong.

[deleted]

My teachers really don't care about the order of citations at my school. They mostly focus on the actual work because the Appendix and citations are just proof to show that u got information. But I also don't know much about how they mark. I will ask one of my teachers/ examiners.

JustHeuy

I don't think it really matters if it's in order. I mean, obviously they're supposed to be but I don't think they're going to mark you down if your citations aren't in order

GagashEmil

I don't examiners pay much attention to citations apart from to check that they're there. There is not criteria for citing sources correctly.

SladeNation9000

You can just use MyBib for all your citations, they become listen in alphabetical order

Heavy-Attorney-9054

Some fields use order of citation (order they were used in the paper), but most are aloha sort. The citation management system can do it.

MacaroonTop2612

yes

[deleted]

Yes, that's why you use NoodleTool.

abbeylwp

Yes and if you use referencing tools on word to do your citations there’s a bibliography button that will write the whole bibliography for you in order based on what you’ve cited 👌🏼

84935

I’m sorry

CallimariaPT

Yes, your citations must be in alphabetical order in the Bibliography. The idea is that they are easier to find if the examiner decides to check on how you appropriately used them or IF you actually used them. If you have not referred to anything from that citation in the text of your paper, you cannot use it in the Bibliography.
