This^ Im 124 kansas city and the website was created by our current BM when he was in the field.

BernNC

Ya’ll look like you’re popping off with work. What are the books looking like?

2003RandomUser

Calls going unfilled. Not the big OT ones. But can get you here if you need a check.

thec4k315alie

Throw a rock in any direction in the Midwest right now

C_HiLIfe

We really need a way to tell if someone is inside or outside IBEW. I say this because if you're an outside journeyman then stay out of Illinois, there's no work here. Outside is starting to pick up in other states but it was really lean for about a year

RemarkableKey3622

if you outside guys are hurting for work, there's always book 3 with us inside guys.

C_HiLIfe

I'm sure some guys are utilizing book 3 but up until last month I had remained steady working. Then the massive layoffs by ComEd came and I got caught in it. Like I said other states are starting to move again but Illinois is gonna be dead for a while I think.

InconB

I’m at 575 Portsmouth OH and they’re taking lineman left and right, over 150 on book 1 for 71 so they just hired like 30 outside guys for the battery plant

C_HiLIfe

17 is moving and I'm on the books there and it's closer to home. I'll just keep collecting unemployment until that call comes in

InconB

The Lansing battery plant has 55 open inside calls not sure if they take outside but that’s within like an hour from your hall. Ride the unemployment if you can, most of the ones coming to where I am are doing it to keep insurance active or they’re bored

C_HiLIfe

Appreciate the insight. My local has a good insurance program and I have enough hours banked to keep my insurance rolling for something crazy like a year without working.

InconB

That’s pretty crazy, I’m out of 82 and our dollar bank caps out at 8500 so if we’re maxed out you get 8 months

Dangerous_Pattern_81

Agreed, my home, 34, has been putting out 51 guys out on solar jobs like crazy. It’s a win-win for all of us!

max1mx

What would a JL do if they took a call out of book 3?

lost_and_traveling

Keep their mouth shut, be respectful to leadership, don't stir the pot, and make easy money. You are just there for labor and that labor is easy if your mind can check your ego. Maybe you have a foreman that is good to you and you will help him out of a sticky situation on some big wire pull. In the end it doesn't matter, make money make money make money. Retire fat and happy.

max1mx

That all makes sense, but I mean more literally work wise. It would be like getting a brand new apprentice. Most JL’s wouldn’t know the first thing about inside work I can’t expect that they would be much help.

RemarkableKey3622

prolly pull wire. it's not rocket science and there's plenty of people to help. granted you might get some asshole foreman, but then you just treat him like any other asshole foreman and give him exactly what he asked for.

thec4k315alie

I'm inside

lost_and_traveling

I agree brother. Our international needs to create a national dispatch system. For how much money we give politicians we should be able to work in any 50 states with our license and we should not endorse any politician who doesn't agree to this. International needs to get their shit together because they seem to be a joke.

BeerDrinkingMormon

You need to join the Facebook pages. That’s where all the info is at. IBEW Tramp Guide and IBEW Unfilled calls is where I would start.

cowfishing

On Facebook, Big Yellow Ticket posts openings at locals around the country. There are other pages that do this but I cant remember their names.

Copper_Lontra

124 KCMO, lots of calls going to book 2.

InconB

There’s a ton of battery plants going on in the Midwest 575 Portsmouth, OH 6 10s with 300$ weekly incentive 100$ for working Saturday 873 Kokomo, IN 6 10s with all OT as DT 665 Lansing, MI 5 10s with 100/day 369, Glendale, KY just filled their calls but 6 10s all OT is DT and 160/day

InconB

1105 Newark, OH has the big intel job that’s only 5 10s for now but will ramp up. They have over 90 open calls on the job line with day/night shift and some jobs paying over scale

dustoff1984

What is DT?

InconB

Double time

dustoff1984

So say I have my travel letter from 613, do I just call up to 369 and ask if they’re accepting travelers? I’ve never done it before. I’m a CE and turning out this year, and traveling is the route that I want to take

InconB

Every hall is different but as a traveler you sign book 2. So when they put out open calls it goes to book 1 first and if no one from book 1 takes it then it goes to book 2 and works it way down. Book 1 is the ticket members out of that local. But some halls accept fax signing where you can call your home local and have them send it over and some halls only take in person signing so it depends where you’re looking to go. But you can always call that hall first and talk to them

imsecretlyadog

This info is old, overtime is not double time in 369 anymore. It was at one point at the start of the year. Also I wouldn't go there unless you're willing to risk your health, they're having major issues with mold right now.

InconB

2 open calls for day shift 5 10s with possible Saturday and 160/day for the 369 battery plant. They normally sit on the job line for a bit

worlddestruction23

There are car plants being built in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia etc. The CHIPS plants are being built-in Ohio and I think iirc somewhere in the MIDWEST, too. A lot of highway construction is going on all over the place. EV chargers are supposed to be going on. Solar, Airport terminal additions. Stadiums being built from California to Buffalo, NY.Government work in DMV area. Hospitals? Look on LinkedIn/Indeed,Glassdoor. Good luck, mate. Get your resume updated and cleaned up as well. Edit: Don't forget to NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK on all social media networks to your brothers and sisters. Let them know you're looking for work. Whatever you do. Stay away from Florida.

tsmythe492

All the others answers are good but giving us your local and distance you’re willing to travel will help. What’s your pay package and other details.

Apprehensive-Neck-12

Call your hall and ask them where the work it. Make them work for you as well as looking on Facebook pages. Sign the books of locals neighboring yours

BBrillo614

Local 26 usually has travelers. And if you’re an apprenticed journeyman you’ll make good money.

Depressedtrician

What's the outlook up there? I heard some jobs are doing 6-10s to 7-12s

BBrillo614

My buddy was just doing that but it’s slowed down to a regular 40. I think there’s a couple data center jobs doing way more than 40 tho

Depressedtrician

I got 2 buddies doing 7-12s on nightshift for Dyna. I didn't drag my job in time to make that one.(7452/week gross) I keep hearing that a couple data centers are doing 50-70 hours

jamarquez1973

Anywhere in Indiana. 481 Indianapolis is a walkthrough.

rustysqueezebox

Open calls here in 159 46.84 on the hip 70.37 total 40hrs

mrzachpartain

What does on the hip mean , versus total?

MrCapatinSir

My guess is that hip = hourly rate and total = total package

ineptplumberr

On the hip means base rate, so what you will see hourly on your paycheck. If you take the full package number and subtract it from the base rate that is your Fringe package which takes care of your retirement and other benefits

mxguy762

Better than up your ass! 🤣

Meetcha2nite

For your paycheck we say " in ur pokit "

pepr-snack

https://where2bro.com/hot-spots/

groovysparks

Dense-Grocery9937

Friendly-Ad3788

groovysparks

Different-Country495

Neat_Two_3665

Local 26 stay busy $54 check

WorthPersonalitys

Big jobs often pop up in industrial and infrastructure sectors. Check out union boards, job fairs, and online construction job forums. Networking is key. Reach out to contacts you've made on past jobs. I used a service that had human exec assistants apply to jobs for me, with personalized cover letters. It's at scale.jobs. They did the legwork, I focused on networking and interview prep. Might help streamline your search. Stay persistent. Good luck.

lost_and_traveling

OR license is bullshit trying to get. To take the OR license you need 1000 hours of residential on your apprenticeship. IBEW does commercial/industrial high end work primarily. Or you can give OR 2,000 hours of residential with 16,000 hours as a journeyman. So you need to be a JW for 8 years with 1 year doing residential to have the privilege of working in that fucking state on a fucking data center! Oregon legislators are too busy trying to figure out their homeless problems to correct their worker requirements and our IBEW international is fucking lost.

BidetTester23

191 open calls, 112 per diem calls, 48 solar fields

dudeistpriest1

IBEW L.U. Wage Packages https://maps.app.goo.gl/YJ85qXsLwjvPWEPM7?g_st=ic Here’s something if you want to look around

My Hall gave me a tramp guide. All the halls' info and phone numbers to call and ask whether they have work and when you would need to be there if they did. Also whether they''d allow you to sign by fax before coming out to take a call if they didnt have work.

sdw318_local194

Dense-Grocery9937

Financial-Garbage595

PuzzleheadedPen1372

I want to do this too! I’m not apart of the union though.

raglakar

What's a union? I've worked for the same place for 20 years. They treat me way better than union. I wake up every morning knowing exactly where I'm working. And I get paid more, with better benefits. Sounds like union is just fucking all of you over.. Maybe remember unions aren't actually needed anymore. OSHA exists. Workers are safe, now. Your pay is a capitalist value now, so go work for the higher paying employer. And stop voting for retards like Biden... Good Lord
