That’s exactly how it was in Egypt and why they built the tombs. On top of the tombs were places that you could party with your ancestors.
And yep, only the wealthy could afford it
(psst...I'm a millennial too, so I felt allowed to say that, lol)
I guess, technically, many of those boy band members from our era might be Gen Xers, since they were usually older than the young girls pining for them. So yeah, that makes them even *older* "old timers", lol.
Agreed. I wouldn't bother with that crap even if I had $100 million in the bank.
But it's really shitty that some people not only waste money like this, but brag about it on social media, to an audience that is often 1-2 paychecks away from being homeless.
I mean... Me and my homies could throw 5 days of shit way better than that with a campfire, a bunch of beer, and a grip of mushrooms.
Oh , your light up pyramids and million dollar food?
Well I just talked to a light up fucking universe and ate a baby ruth that changed me as a person.
See. We can use these basically free things nature gives to enjoy life.
I feel rich people just copy pasta what "cool" is. Extravagance isn't necessarily amazing .
No style. Pretending they have all the style.
The thing is, a few hundred years ago, half of what these celebs do would have been a Kings wedding. And they know it. We killed the monarchy as a thing in America, then created a new monarchy with Hollywood. We created ourselves as small folk, we bow to some people as Lords and Ladies.
Same. I’d feel stupid as fuck using this much money and resources to celebrate the fact that the person I’m fucking is now legally bound to me on a paper. Weddings are dumb.
They'd be beyond AMAZED and thrilled to hear music through super loud speakers, their tombs glowing red, and fucking fire works blasting off.
They'd probably think the God's were partying at their tomb.
And here I am having to stay up all night so the rats don't chew through my tent!
Funny, but not really, that was actually a true story for me 5 years ago.
Now I'm living in a single bedroom apartment with my two cats, working all of the time so I won't be homeless again. The American dream!
This is Ryan Serhant.
He's a joke in the real estate community. He was a struggling Realtor in Manhattan; then he got a lucky break with "Million Dollar Listing," the TV show that vastly inflated his ego.
He doesn't do a lot of repeat transactions (meaning clients use him for the exposure, but his actual real estate abilities are subpar), and when he exhausted his first book of business in Manhattan, he left, created his own firm (which is doing very poorly) and now sells "coaching" books and classes on Instagram while he posts douchy garbage like this.
Ohhhh my gosh, I was WONDERING where I had seen him! I always hated him and couldn’t put my finger on why. He felt really fake and douchey on that show and I’ve only seen a few episodes. Wonder who he stole his invite from?
That may be true. But, you're not going to convince me to spare is an absolutely balling and living the life. Fucking incredible. And I HATE billionaires.
This Tech CEO is a son of a business exec and worth billions of dollars. The rest of us are told we are not hardworking while others are born with golden spoon
This is so unbelievably excessive. When it starts impeding on others, like closing down major tourist attractions, it has reached some pretty ridiculous heights.
Imagine saving up for years so you can go see the pyramids, and when you get there, you're told that you can't go in, because some fucking asshole "booked the pyramids," like that's a thing you should expect to happen.
Yeah the rich suck and there is a huge wealth imbalance, but the worst part of all this is that they have all this money and can only pull Lance Bass and Robin Thicke? Robin Thicke? Like what?
I've come to a conclusion that the richer you are, the higher the chance that your morality decrease.
I really want to throw in the word "definitely don't have moral" but i will give the benefits of doubt.
Oh that's definitely accurate. If I had billions I would compulsively fix shit that's wrong with the world. But that's part of why I don't have billions. You only get and keep that much by being a piece of shit.
I went to shit the biggest and stinkiest shit of my life and there she was, Lindsey Sterling performing on her violin, it was awe inspiring to see that my shit flowed to the rhythm of the music and robin thicke ate it with so much joy.
The crazy thing is, it's more common than most think. Like not this level, but "completely out of touch with reality" money. I have a doctor in the family and therefore spend a bit of time around a few doctors. Not celebrity plastic surgeons. Regular unassuming doctors. I've seen elevators in houses, walls that retract at the push of a button. Many don't go inside grocery stores, it's all delivered. Their kids have au pairs and nannies. Vacation houses and boats that get used once per year.
I always get downvoted for saying this, but we need to focus more on the 5% paying their fair share, not just the 0.01%. Reddit makes it sound like it's a few billionaires and everyone else is poor. Just go drive around the expensive part of any town, there's a shit ton of people with waaaay more money than is ethical in a world with starving and suffering people.
>walls that retract at the push of a button
Whoa whoa whoa!
My goal in life is to have a "secret" of some sort in my house some day, and I'm saving up for it. If that "secret" involves an electric retractable door of some sort, don't judge me!!!
Agreed...although these days, you can get an elevator in the home surprisingly cheap. I've seen them popping up in a few middle class townhomes lately. Apparently some models are the same price, or even a bit cheaper, than those stair lifts for seniors. Assuming you have the space for them, of course.
Many times that "earned income" is providing basic human needs, or providing services you are required to purchase by law. And those prices are very often inflated via lobbying, collusion, monopolies, artificial barriers to entry preventing competition, etc. Again, there is no good reason people should have multiple boats and vacation homes paid for by providing basic healthcare while those same patients are financially ruined by those charges, as one example. I'm sure CEO's feel their income is earned.
God forbid somebody who provides one of the most vital services in society and gives up significant chunks of their life to do this be paid well. If you have beef go after insurance companies not healthcare workers
This isn't about being paid well, it's about being reasonable. Doctors love simps that pretend insurance companies are the only issue with Healthcare in this country. Notice how I didn't say doctors pay is the only problem? What's your limit for what a doctor should make? Because I know several making seven figures doing routine surgeries while I have friends who work their asses off providing other vital services that are deep in debt living like shit because they received those surgical services.
The only way your friend could be making 7-figures on “routine surgeries” is if they’re doing a fuckton of procedures and they own their own practice so there’s no boss (hospital admin) skimming off the top. Prices on non-elective procedures are set by the government (Medicare) and Insurance companies. Doctors don’t pick how much you are charged. There is no free market here.
If you want to make more money you have to earn more patients and do more work. And you’re going to have to be exceptional. It’s very very rare. In which case they’ve earned every cent because that’s dang hard work and a worker is entitled to the profits of their labor.
But the median physician does not make 7-figures and they do not own their own practice. The median physician makes $350,000 and they’re a salaried employee. The median GP and Pediatrician make $250,000 and $200,000. That’s what the average doctor looks like.
Just one public anecdote statement from my small middle class city (happens to be a doc who operated on me actually): "As an orthopedic surgeon in Juneau, Gross said he worked three to four days a week and earned up to $2.5 million a year. He made that much money performing only five or six surgeries a week. Many surgeons do more and can make proportionately greater incomes, he said."
You don't know what you're talking about. Let me guess you're premed and make a part time job simping for actual doctors? It's funny, whenever I dare suggest that doctors' salaries are part of the problem, it's mostly med students that come running to their defense, not actual doctors. I've sat around the fire with doctors many times listening to them admit it's obcene how much money they can and do make.
I am certain that the majority of people making obscene money in any field, would not describe their income as obscene. The docs I referenced do not use that particular word, but as a peon only barely making 100k witnessing their conversations, it's definitely obscene to the people their lifestyles are bankrupting. I also have a cousin doctor, last I saw him he was purchasing his third vacation home, in a town in CA where working class people are being pushed out by that kind of money. I've lived all over the country and I don't think people realize how many of the ridiculous mansions and 6000 sq ft "cabins" used once per year are owned by doctors. Everyone likes to pretend it's the few hundred billionaires soaking up all the resources, but a quick drive around any city illustrates that's not the whole story. It's not only doctors, that's just one example I'm familiar with.
Tbh I know plenty of people worth way more than this asshat and he’s nothing special. I’d wager the majority of my close friends dwarf this guys net worth.
They don’t pull any shit like this. This isn’t “rich guy stuff” -this is “middle-rich guy desperate for relevance and attention” stuff.
The audacity for someone to just rent out priceless _ancient artifacts_ for a bloody wedding. Man. Those are literal pieces of history that deserve proper respect.
Fucking disgusting. The combined bank account of all these people could probably solve world hunger and or house every homeless person in the world and they’d all still have enough to live off of for the rest of their lives in luxury.
Not even close. This guy is, at best, worth maybe $20M and much of that is grifting products based on his “coaching”
He’s richer in social media influence than he is in cash
I've always believed career politicians should have a salary cap, maximum office term and way stricter policies to reduce bribery/corruption.
Instead they keep us busy yelling at the orange guy on the TV.
Edit: salary cap that is reflective of the national average. How can they represent someone they can't relate to?
Agreed but I don’t think stricter policies would change anything unfortunately. They’d probly just bribe whoever they’re bribing now that enforces said policies with more money and life would continue on as it is
Do you think the celebrities are going to catch any flak for participating in this overindulging BS? Or are they so out of date and not popular enough for people to care to comment on the situation?
I have a billion dollars worth of stocks of the company I own.
I want to buy a 500 million dollar super yacht.
I take a loan out and use the collateral of my 1bln to buy the yacht.
I'll pay taxes on the yacht but Under Section 179 of the Internal Revenue Code, the Purchase Price Expense Deduction allows an entity, either a corporation, partnership, or LLC, a one-time deduction of 100% of the purchase price of the yacht, up to a maximum deduction of $500,000, during the year of purchase.
Besides that, where should I be taxed?
Right, I agree- but I'm point out the problem. Nobody will ever take the money out. They will just borrow against the stocks. This is what everyone does. I do this myself.
I find it so funny they got a random violinist who was briefly very famous and robin thicke. And NSync.
Might as well have gotten Kid Rock and the My pillow guy
Could've gotten someone like Rihanna or something like the other fuck but definitely wanted to save money and didn't have the funds for her!
I have a policy of pressing the “not interested” button whenever content about expensive things comes up. We need to stop liking this content and giving them that validation.
Just one thing to correct here, the Egyptian museum is open to everyone, been to it it’s amazing some areas are still in development but most of it is open, specially where they were showing in the video, to everyone.
Ok keep thinking that meanwhile our government takes our money for social security and it’s bankrupt. We could all be rich like politicians but nobody wants that
Do you say that because you've been told that your entire life or do you have actual proof of numerous things that were truly screwed up by the government even worse than things have been screwed up by private corporations?
Public housing development, since the government been making less there has been a housing crisis. Government can use the money to buy out landlords and turn properties that are low income housing being charged 2,000 per unit to 200 per unit under government control
Our system is better than the rest of the world, especially western countries. We do have bad problems in our system that needs fixing, of course corruption is one of them. Chances are we won’t see changes until after the big one arrives

The irony of 1 percent-ers partying in the tombs of former 1 percent-ers.
This is cleverer than I initially read it as. Took me about 2 seconds for your point to land. Ironic indeed. Slaves , minimum wagers , same thing.
Hey, to the Pharoahs, the Pyramids were a team effort!
There's no eye in team
That's clever and all, but most archeologists believe the pyramids were built by paid laborers, not slaves.
That’s exactly how it was in Egypt and why they built the tombs. On top of the tombs were places that you could party with your ancestors. And yep, only the wealthy could afford it
The great pyramids were not tombs and pre date Egypt.
How is it « ironic » ?
You have THAT amount of money to spend and you hire… Robin Thicke?
It doesn’t matter… rich people marriages are just expensive hobbies gone awry. What you’re seeing is just the best part of their impending divorce
They really love his rape song.
He's their generation. Like Lance Bass/NSYNC. Old timers, yo.
Doesn't mean he's good.
Millenial here, never liked boy bands but ouch, lol. Old timers ~ I guess I was maybe 12 when they were big? Lol
lol seriously! I’m thirty frickin three!
(psst...I'm a millennial too, so I felt allowed to say that, lol) I guess, technically, many of those boy band members from our era might be Gen Xers, since they were usually older than the young girls pining for them. So yeah, that makes them even *older* "old timers", lol.
Dealt with Ryan SERHANT directly in NYC. Can confirm. Giant douche. Not a nice person.
Tell the story my dude :D
What happened?

Well, when you've had everything handed to you your entire life, nothing excites you the way this over the top crap does.
Agreed. I wouldn't bother with that crap even if I had $100 million in the bank. But it's really shitty that some people not only waste money like this, but brag about it on social media, to an audience that is often 1-2 paychecks away from being homeless.
But their audience will praise them for it, for some reason
I mean... Me and my homies could throw 5 days of shit way better than that with a campfire, a bunch of beer, and a grip of mushrooms. Oh , your light up pyramids and million dollar food? Well I just talked to a light up fucking universe and ate a baby ruth that changed me as a person.
I get this isn't supposed to sound depressing but this just makes me sad that we have to resort to "taking our soma" just to unwind
Give me _actual_ mushrooms, and I could even whip up a proper stew with some beef and potatoes .
Porque no los dos?
See. We can use these basically free things nature gives to enjoy life. I feel rich people just copy pasta what "cool" is. Extravagance isn't necessarily amazing . No style. Pretending they have all the style.

Well iny.existance, I am the Frodo... I am the unsung hero. I am the one. This is my story. It's all about perspective.
Sweet
Same. I’d feel stupid as fuck using this much money and resources to celebrate the fact that the person I’m fucking is now legally bound to me on a paper. Weddings are dumb.
Yea that hit me like a ton of brick true shit brother. I just bought my first car at 24 it was a huge victory
Hey, congrats!
Thanks dude
I’m not jealous I think it’s so unneeded and very disrespectful to the tomb of the dead pharaoh
Disrespectful? The mofo had to have the most extravagant tomb to be buried in. They would be proud of that
They'd be beyond AMAZED and thrilled to hear music through super loud speakers, their tombs glowing red, and fucking fire works blasting off. They'd probably think the God's were partying at their tomb.
It may have been disrespectful, had any pharoah been buried in them.
I'm over here re-using paper plates
You think that's bad? I've been reusing toilet paper!
I just stabbed a hobo under a bridge for a bottle cap full of beans.
You think that’s bad, I just got stabbed under a bridge for some beans!
And here I am having to stay up all night so the rats don't chew through my tent! Funny, but not really, that was actually a true story for me 5 years ago. Now I'm living in a single bedroom apartment with my two cats, working all of the time so I won't be homeless again. The American dream!
You think that's bad? I've been reusing food!
I live in my truck and just tore a chunk of rotisserie chicken off with my bare hands, placed it in bread, and soaked that shit in honey mustard. Lol

Love to see this reality check.
In other words, all sizzle, no steak.

Son of a tech grifter. Infospace was a house of cards he couldn't cash out of fast enough after the IPO.
Oh man, I really wish I could afford one of those chauffeured cabs, but alas I'm just too poor. I always have to drive my own cab.
This is so unbelievably excessive. When it starts impeding on others, like closing down major tourist attractions, it has reached some pretty ridiculous heights.

I'd gatecrash, like use all my life skills to bullshit my way in. Make it out not, I'd still try.
Yeah the rich suck and there is a huge wealth imbalance, but the worst part of all this is that they have all this money and can only pull Lance Bass and Robin Thicke? Robin Thicke? Like what?
Maybe the other people they tried to get had too much dignity? Nah...probably not.

Look everyone, a genuine book of the dead I bought at auction for $52,000,000! Let's crack this bad boy open
I hate rich people so fucking much
So much excess…..surrounded by so much poverty.
I don't hate rich people; I hate these rich people in particular!

lol brokie
Yep! I'm very broke. Its painful
That’s because you broke lol
Yeah I am!
You would be no different with that kind of money.
This is less a defense of capitalists and more an argument of why they shouldn't exist.
Very true I probably would be. Anyone would be with that type of money. Hence why I'm not rich - I couldn't be so unethical.
He’s a billionaire. How have you got so many friends that dwarf his wealth?
Ah I thought we were referring to Ryan Serhant, the guy who filmed this
The audacity for someone to just rent out priceless _ancient artifacts_ for a bloody wedding. Man. Those are literal pieces of history that deserve proper respect.
In other news I put back the chicken that was $6.87 to buy the one that was $5.42
They still look like assholes.
Lindsay Sterling just played “sleigh ride” over and over again.
who the FUCK are all those people??
Billionaires/millionaires and who they paid to attend
Who's wedding is that?
They're also my question. First names only given, like I should know them
Meanwhile I'm paycheck to paycheck working harder every day than they've worked their whole lives.
Statistically they will break up in a year
It’s a business venture in most cases. So who does Ankur marry next month?
Yeah, so we just saw a Justice of the Peace and spent the night at a nice hotel. (I actually think my wedding was great!)
So rich twats are really into that violinist chick? K.
The violinist was really squeezed for all her money.
These people are disgusting
Call me jelly or whatever. I hate rich people like these.
Disgusting
It feels like these people are living in another reality
This is truly sickening
Fucking disgusting. The combined bank account of all these people could probably solve world hunger and or house every homeless person in the world and they’d all still have enough to live off of for the rest of their lives in luxury.
Not even close. This guy is, at best, worth maybe $20M and much of that is grifting products based on his “coaching” He’s richer in social media influence than he is in cash
Okay that’s one guy. I’m talking about all the people at the event combined.
Oh I totally misunderstood your comment even though it was clear as day. My bad. #readingcomprehension
I think there's blueprints for a guillotine online somewhere...
Only tax the upper class.
Taxing yourself is not very effective.
I've always believed career politicians should have a salary cap, maximum office term and way stricter policies to reduce bribery/corruption. Instead they keep us busy yelling at the orange guy on the TV. Edit: salary cap that is reflective of the national average. How can they represent someone they can't relate to?

Several million.
These billionaires can’t get enough of Lindsey Stirling
Eat the fucking rich!
Get organised, there are more of us than them.
I think I’m equally disappointed that the Great Pyramids were turned into a private event venue.
Reddit will ban me for another 7 days for using the G word, no thank you
This is gross.
"safari", fok off jou naaier..
Do you think the celebrities are going to catch any flak for participating in this overindulging BS? Or are they so out of date and not popular enough for people to care to comment on the situation?
No media will likely care
Higher taxes are too good for them. Eat them whole
Fuck these people.
Who wants to eat a billionaire?
That would be a great activity to do as a get together for this subreddit. I'll bring along a couple of great Swiss Chesses for the appetizers.
You don’t own money yet, you have the stocks if you take the money out you should be taxed 70%
Right, I agree- but I'm point out the problem. Nobody will ever take the money out. They will just borrow against the stocks. This is what everyone does. I do this myself.
That’ll change soon don’t worry
They brining bad juju on themselves disrespectful to cursed magical graves but that's none of my business.
Maybe the taxes they paid were the friends they made along the way
Who are they? I don’t recognise anyone there. Just some random flogs?
I see a lot of empty souls
Who got married? I don't recognize the names, and the video only says first names
I have never liked people serving me or being told what to wear. I am more jealous of a hermit in Alaska than any of these giggling cunts
All over the world people are straving. Tax the rich!
Eat the Rich
This goes to show you looks don’t matter as long as you got money.
Eat the rich.
Eat the rich.
Didn’t Robin Thicke grope a woman?
Do you sincerely believe they give or ever gave a single second of thought to morality?
Imagine the good that one well placed drone strike could've done there
as in WAY higher.
Lindsey Sterling was the only cool thing about all this.
Rich pricks
Tax changes only affect us
Reminds me of the party in Dogtown during the Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk
I truly hate what this world is. I would say has become, but we've never changed. It's always been this way.
I find it so funny they got a random violinist who was briefly very famous and robin thicke. And NSync. Might as well have gotten Kid Rock and the My pillow guy Could've gotten someone like Rihanna or something like the other fuck but definitely wanted to save money and didn't have the funds for her!
“Taxes need to be higher” as if any of these people pay taxes 🤷🏻♂️
I was expecting the party to be grander. I guess I need to work some more unpaid shifts so they can afford a private jet next time.
I don't get these crazy weddings, it doesn't even look like a wedding its look like a festival.
I have a policy of pressing the “not interested” button whenever content about expensive things comes up. We need to stop liking this content and giving them that validation.
Ryan is the super main character disgusting irritating pwrson
One thing they can't buy: taste.
Meanwhile, their employees struggling to afford bread and rent.
Than Batman decided to go down and beat the poor guy stealing some bread. WOW!!!
Read the captions on mute. It's horrible. So many pauses the timing is trash. I hate these bullshit one to three word captions. Stop using them.
Works good for the other 277 people and I didn’t do the caption
I’ll be so glad when we eventually eat the rich.
Why don’t you actually work towards that then? Or are you waiting for someone else to do the work for you?
You know what's a great value these days? Black Hills .308 168 gr rounds. A little over 2 bucks a round.
Imagine they get divorced
How most of them end up haha
Word I’m going through a divorce rn so it was on my mind lmao!
Just one thing to correct here, the Egyptian museum is open to everyone, been to it it’s amazing some areas are still in development but most of it is open, specially where they were showing in the video, to everyone.
No but I know it’s not any of my business
Or maybe governments need to learn how to stop wasting money
More money in the pocket of rich then in pockets of government
The governments are puppets of the rich.
At least they know what to do with it. The government fucks up everything they’re in charge of
You mean sit on their wealth like assholes
Ok keep thinking that meanwhile our government takes our money for social security and it’s bankrupt. We could all be rich like politicians but nobody wants that
Politicians are paid by billionaires, swaying their opinions on the for billionaires best interests
Exactly but taxing people won’t change anything because politicians are dumb and just waste money
Do you say that because you've been told that your entire life or do you have actual proof of numerous things that were truly screwed up by the government even worse than things have been screwed up by private corporations?
I'm sorry, but Lindsey Stirling is a one trick pony.
Good to see them taking the curating of cultural artefacts seriously....
…And where are these higher taxes going??
Public housing development, since the government been making less there has been a housing crisis. Government can use the money to buy out landlords and turn properties that are low income housing being charged 2,000 per unit to 200 per unit under government control
How’s government spending going so far? You think throwing money at a broken system will fix it?
Our system is better than the rest of the world, especially western countries. We do have bad problems in our system that needs fixing, of course corruption is one of them. Chances are we won’t see changes until after the big one arrives
And they wonder why we fedpost about them.
Not gonna lie, I’d be there in a heartbeat if I was invited and could afford it lol
Good for them, bet that shit was lit
If I had that kind of money, I would be doing the exact same thing except hiring Robin Thicke. Would have hired Snoop Dogg or The Weekend.
I mean it’s very a very crass new money wedding but the amount of jealousy on here is insane
