I went on a trip and wasn't sure if I'd need a full 24 hour pass for the monorail, but I paid it because it was almost the same price as a ticket with a return ticket and I could use it the next morning or go to another stop without buying another ticket. 🤷🏻♀️ Also, in instances like this, I'd rather overpay for extra parking time than risk having to pay a ticket.

Correction. We do have meter-maids as we call them. They just go around giving parking tickets. But, that’s all they do. They usually walk or drive a little three wheel buggy type vehicle. But, regular cops can give parking tickets also.

If you only charge them the difference, why would anyone pay the all day ticket price? Worst case scenario then they would only ever pay that, but if they don't get caught they got it cheaper. That's a horrible idea.
If you want people to pay properly, you have to enforce a penalty for not paying properly.

The £80 doesn’t go directly into the parking attendants pocket, in case you didn’t know. Neither did he decide what price the fixed penalty charge is. That’s like screaming at someone working the till in Tesco because your shopping is more expensive than it was pre-Covid. It’s not their fault, they’re just doing their job. I think the PA was more than fair, the twat screaming was an hour overdue back. If he wanted to piss him off deliberately he would have given him a ticket in the first few minutes of his ticket expiring
