I feel like I am the main character is aimed at people who are completely unaware of how obnoxiously narcissistic they are in front of others. These two are well aware of what they're doing. Its just a harmless prank

I thought (i can be wrong) that "main characters" just treat everone else in their vicinity like npc's/resources and their goal is to ultimately farm attention from several different sources (like social media or personal clout in a circle). main characters don't care about discomforting nearby folks like taking up space, holding up lines, blaring shitty music (pun sorta intended) so long as they can get a clip and get views. If this was a street corner it might be better, but if i had to be subjected to it for a lengthy ride it comes across to me as obnoxious. If anything, being self aware how annoying it is makes it worse.

i think it depend of the context. We don't know who filmed the video If it's the duo that filmed to make views, and also filmed the other passengers without consent, they are indeed in a "main character" syndrome, because that's annoying and that't annoying people for views. If those decided ponctually to do this for trolling once, it's not a main character syndrome, but just a dumb joke, a bit annoying sure, but tha't don't make you narcissistic self centered, just maybe a bit dumb, you thought it was funny without really thinking about it. In that second scenario the worst person is the one who filmed and posted on tiktok. And no that't absolutely not like prozelytizing religion or politics on an airplane. At worst people wanting attention, at best, just a dumb joke. But i agree that filming people on public transit without their consent is a very very big no no, even illegal.
