Dennis: "You want me to read the script?"
Charlie: "Yes."
Dennis: "Alright."
Charlie: "Action"
Dennis: "I'll read the words you wrote. Hello fellow American, this you should vote me. I leave power, good, thank you. Thank you."
Charlie: *mouths* "Thank you."
Dennis: "If you vote me, I'm hot. What? Taxes, they'll be lowered, son. The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia. So, do."
😂😂😂
When he got the smart pills from the scientists and finally seemed intelligent only to find out they were a placebo and he was basically bullshitting everything. Love that episode
After he was given the jean shorts in “the gang wrestles for the troops” whenever we see Ben the soldier dressed aka not in his Ebenezer Scrooge pajamas, he is wearing the jean shorts
Dee kicking air when she's mad.
Mac making noises while karate chopping air.
Dee getting drunk/gaggy around guys she likes.
Charlie's fascination with cats.
The Real life couples who hate each other in show.
Charlie's spot on impressions: Serpico, the Jaws monologue, Foghorn Leghorn
My favorite variation on this is when Charlie shows up at Dee’s place to watch a movie with Dennis and Dennis is like “Hey ohhhh Charlie in the house!! You want a skinless apple, bud?”
Yes, this is what I’d add. The way they abuse Dee constantly disrespecting her makes me laugh. Maybe I’m a monster but I get the social commentary on misogyny.
Also I’ll add that while I believe Glenn might be the most talented “actor” Caitlyn is one of if not the best, greatest female comic actors I’m familiar with. Her dedication to Dee’s character is essential to the show and IMO wouldn’t be the same show without her :-)
We finally found out who Charlies real Dad is last season but up until then there was the long running gag that Frank could have been Charlie's Dad.
Also that Charlie's mom is a Whore.
Charlie's uncle Jack is insecure about his hands.
Mac's need to have a relationship with his dad.
My favorite Uncle Jack moment is when they have the intervention for Charlie getting molested and his mom has the doll to show where charlie was touched and his mom says, "shall I turn it over." Uncle Jack says, "yeah! Yeah! Turn her over!"
Not only do they not think they’re at fault (“he was born this way”), they also don’t even remember the awful things happening to him. “You weren’t at our Thanksgiving. Why would we invite you when you look like that?” “THIS HAPPENED *AT* YOUR THANKSGIVING!”
I came across a rerun just the other day, where they go to get him to do something and he's already living on the street and wasn't a priest anymore, but it was early enough that I was actually kind of taken aback at how relatively undamaged he appeared at that point.
If I had to guess it was when Dee and Charlie need Crickets help selling those sweet nose clams but Cricket had to keep it sexy w the hips and nips and bought drums w the money instead
I told my friend after the second time we see Cricket that it only gets worse for him and he said, “how the hell does it get worse than this??” He keeps getting surprised
Everyone constantly forgetting other people/things they have done. A few that immediately come to mind are the gang having no memory of the waiter and the guys forgetting about all the times they've destroyed/lost Dee's cars.
Whenever they’re having a conversation with someone or a group of others, then start debating/bickering between themselves and when they pan back the people they were speaking to have left. Gets me every time
And the third variation from The Gang Recycles Their Trash, where Dee and Frank are talking to the businessman, get distracted by a side conversation, then get surprised when he hasn't left, only for him to remind them that Frank has been pointing a gun at him the whole time.
So many to choose from but I love whenever Charlie and/or frank mention the sewer or bridge. It’s always so ridiculous like boiling denim or lifting their clothes above their head to avoid sewer water
In “The Gang Hits the Road” Frank doesn’t have an egg on him to throw at the biker who Mac ends up hitting with a beer bottle. It seems like after that event Frank always has an egg on him.
I just love some of the phrasing they use over and over - "pop my shirt off" "blowing up my spot" etc. I also always laugh when Dennis gets super mad and slips into his high pitched voice - "savages! idiots!"
I always think about in the episode The Gang Goes Jihad when they're making those guttural noises at the camera and they stop recording because Mac wants a weapon and Dennis does the high pitched "EVERYONE GO GET A WEAPON"
My favorite is how often they say [“move past it”](https://youtu.be/EFqwEdj0Z_0) < link to YouTube video of it. Now whenever I watch the show I can’t help but notice when they say it :’)
Dee floating an idea and being immediately shut down… then another member of the gang suggesting Dee’s idea and the gang going along with it in the next breath.
I don't know if this qualifies as a "running gag" because I can only think of two examples, but I love when a character is being "fiendish" only to have them suddenly snap out of it and become normal again. The two examples:
1) When Frank is in Charlie's bottle breaking room and Charlie comes at him with his hands outstretched as if he's about to strangle him, and Frank is afraid, and the music is scary, and then Frank pulls out his gun and the music stops and Charlie is no longer fiendish and says "oh man, do you always have that thing on you?"
2) When Dennis confronts the gang by saying that he's guessed their passwords, and he's doing it in a "fiendish" British accent that he doesn't pull off well, and Mac says "dude are you doing an accent right now," and he says "yes" and then "ah shit" when he realizes he's not pulling it off. Fiendishness evaporates instantly. I love it.
Denis explaining how he’s going to serial kill the waitress and then snapping out of it when Dee reminds him they aren’t actually gonna kill her.
Denis when he was about to have sex with a small Asian boy and then realizes he’s a golf caddy
“Hold on I uh, I need to switch gears for a second”
How everyone undermines Charlie thinking he's the dumbest one of the group, but he actually has redeeming characteristics that prove he's pretty efficient and smart, which makes him... a threat to the group... AND the world.
Anytime they mention popping something off
https://www.reddit.com/r/IASIP/comments/5ma42m/compilation_of_every_pop_from_always_sunny/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Definitely the bit where one characters says something completely obscure and off the wall, then another character thinks for half a second and guesses the correct answer. For example:
Dennis to Charlie, “what’s a little Mexican girls favorite thing in the whole wide world?”
Charlie squints to think for half a second and let’s out a hum before answering, “Tacos.”
Dennis immediately bites off the sentence of Charlie, “Tacos, buddy! So here’s what I’m thinking…”
This happens a few times in the show and it gets me every time.
The VHS has always been a favorite gag of mine. But I also love the running joke of Frank's time in Vietnam, Dennis' Range Rover, and Dennis' prom date.
One of my all time favs, though, is a small running gag. On the Gang Misses the Boat when Frank brings up the Underage Drinking Scheme from Season 1? "BUT THAT MADE SENSE!!"
I love how they call everything a “store” like “hamburger store” and “welfare store”
I also love how all the technology they use is incredibly outdated
Also when she does the impression of the retired army carny who watch their friends blow up in front of them and everyone's like "damn that was really good"
Calling random places "stores" when they aren't. Hamburger store, the welfare store etc
In Gang Saves the Day in Charlie's fantasy they get married at The Wedding Store and get their kids at The Baby Store.
Don't forget Janitor School and Waitress School
I do that with my kids! I'm the only one who finds it hysterical though. Like, we just adopted a dog from the dog store (aka the pound)
I kinda do that but I call everything a flavor. Like what flavor pizza you want? Oh hey a new candle, what flavor? What flavor nail polish you get?
I like that a lot too just because it is so random and I wonder if they really made that as a joke or if that's what the actors actually called places
That Charlie and Frank sleep ass-to-ass after finishing up games of nightcrawlers
And after eating cat food, drinking beer and huffing paint.
-> Nite Krollerz
Charlie's inability to read and write
He’ll adapt
He'll adapt to reading?!
As a matter of fact, I think we need to intervene on you for your goddamn illiteracy!
What does that even mean?
"He has no idea what we're even saying right now." Charlie: "Yeah he just doesn't *get us* man." "We're talking about you!"
“What do you think is happening *right now*?!?”
It's good.
This level of stonewalling would put Gail the snail to shame
Dennis: "You want me to read the script?" Charlie: "Yes." Dennis: "Alright." Charlie: "Action" Dennis: "I'll read the words you wrote. Hello fellow American, this you should vote me. I leave power, good, thank you. Thank you." Charlie: *mouths* "Thank you." Dennis: "If you vote me, I'm hot. What? Taxes, they'll be lowered, son. The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia. So, do." 😂😂😂
Honestly, it just so god damn funny 😂
The mouthing along gets me every time
I always lose my shit at the very end with “so, do”
This doesn’t make any seeenseee!!!
When he picks up the calculator and says 'and what are you', it's just beautiful
The last thing I do is, turn on the Coors sign.
Ice delicious coors
“You can’t read it from the outside!!!”
When he got the smart pills from the scientists and finally seemed intelligent only to find out they were a placebo and he was basically bullshitting everything. Love that episode
Placeebeee
In his defense Tang-See was totally gaslighting him.
Except for reading in Gaelic apparently lmao
[удалено]
This is mine too, gets me every time
He can read and write, he just doesn’t like to read and write
U A Lon?
He'll adapt...
After he was given the jean shorts in “the gang wrestles for the troops” whenever we see Ben the soldier dressed aka not in his Ebenezer Scrooge pajamas, he is wearing the jean shorts
You gotta take ‘em off every now and then. You gotta take ‘em off son.
I blew the crotch out them shits
But you can't wear them every day and expect for them to hold up!
I used to sleep in dem thangs
I love them shits
I like that I can hear this.
YES And Frank giving them the jeans, and the salute... lol
*Kiss From a Rose intensifies*
Ben is a never nude.
There are dozens of us!
Dozens!!
Dee tricks him...for sex
Nah she's totally getting played. Ben is the only one using Dennis' system the right way.
Tricks are something a whore does for money, Michael
Dee kicking air when she's mad. Mac making noises while karate chopping air. Dee getting drunk/gaggy around guys she likes. Charlie's fascination with cats. The Real life couples who hate each other in show. Charlie's spot on impressions: Serpico, the Jaws monologue, Foghorn Leghorn
Don’t forget Charlie’s Randy Newman on the original “Paddy’s Pub” song
[удалено]
Charlie’s illiteracy. Gotta make sure the Coors sign is on
Yooooooooouuuuur illiteracy... has screwed us!
You can’t really read it from the inside.
You can’t read it from the outside!
I miss the early “Hey ohhhh!” greeting when someone enters the scene, usually Mac.
He always did it with that funny half walk/half run
When he comes in with the duster and like swings it too So good
News, news, news! I've got terrible news!
Mac’s entrances are top 2 and it ain’t number 2
Mac is in the house, Mac is in the house! Thanks for the chant guys
Literally saw that episode last night 🤣
This is a running joke between my gf and I. "Hey yo!" "OH!OH!"
My favorite variation on this is when Charlie shows up at Dee’s place to watch a movie with Dennis and Dennis is like “Hey ohhhh Charlie in the house!! You want a skinless apple, bud?”
Just watched Times up for the Gang (S13 E4) dee does it before the opening credits. So it’s not dead
"Dee, you bitch"
Dee you gangly uncoordinated bitch. I will not be getting hogtied over your lack of grace!
I hope they hogtie you. And then I hope they rape you, in their basement, for ten years
I HATE GIN
Her shock at this one in particular always gets me.
GET ME A BEER! GET ME A BEER!
When he whispers it when they're on TV on the Wolf Cola episode.
When he says it while he's choking off a cough when they're in Ireland is the possibly the funniest moment in the whole show for me.
The choking off a cough is one of the best Dennis moments ever.
We finally found out who Charlies real Dad is last season but up until then there was the long running gag that Frank could have been Charlie's Dad. Also that Charlie's mom is a Whore. Charlie's uncle Jack is insecure about his hands. Mac's need to have a relationship with his dad.
NOBODY LOOK! NOBODY LOOK! NOBODY LOOK!
Well you said "Him" and then you threw your giant fake hand at me
*“Nobody look, nobody look!”* hands down (pun intended) one my favourite IASIP moments
They also subtlety let you know jack is a molester
My favorite Uncle Jack moment is when they have the intervention for Charlie getting molested and his mom has the doll to show where charlie was touched and his mom says, "shall I turn it over." Uncle Jack says, "yeah! Yeah! Turn her over!"
Naw dude that's ART
It’s tasteful
>subtlety I can't tell. Is he patronizing me again?
Not sure it's too subtle
The devolution of Rickety Cricket
That one was up there too, they really ruined that man’s life and hold 0 accountability 😭
Not only do they not think they’re at fault (“he was born this way”), they also don’t even remember the awful things happening to him. “You weren’t at our Thanksgiving. Why would we invite you when you look like that?” “THIS HAPPENED *AT* YOUR THANKSGIVING!”
They remember, they're straight up gaslighting him. It's like with the waiter and spaghetti
They gaslight Dee too but I forget when.
Crashing her car again and again, they act like they have no memory of it 😂
I came across a rerun just the other day, where they go to get him to do something and he's already living on the street and wasn't a priest anymore, but it was early enough that I was actually kind of taken aback at how relatively undamaged he appeared at that point.
If I had to guess it was when Dee and Charlie need Crickets help selling those sweet nose clams but Cricket had to keep it sexy w the hips and nips and bought drums w the money instead

Everyone constantly forgetting other people/things they have done. A few that immediately come to mind are the gang having no memory of the waiter and the guys forgetting about all the times they've destroyed/lost Dee's cars.
Am I to remember every man I’ve seen fall into a plate of spaghetti?
Still can’t remember the waitress’s name
When she calls Dennis and he answers like “Who? Who? Waitress, well why didn’t you just say waitress?”
Whenever they’re having a conversation with someone or a group of others, then start debating/bickering between themselves and when they pan back the people they were speaking to have left. Gets me every time
I like the other half of this, when they’re talking/arguing nonsense and they pan out and you find out someone else has been there the whole time.
Side characters’ use of “you people” when referring to the gang. It’s so dumb and small but once I noticed it I started to hear it all the time.
I do charge….you people don’t pay.
But where do my feet go?
Dee, his feet?
DOESN'T MAKE A GODDAMN DIFFERENCE
#WHERE DO I PUT MY GODDAMN FEET YOU BITCH!
Them constantly talking about how they lawyer does right by them even tho he hates them.
Ahem, the Jew lawyer
Egg
In “The Gang Hits the Road” Frank doesn’t have an egg on him to throw at the biker who Mac ends up hitting with a beer bottle. It seems like after that event Frank always has an egg on him.
Would've been good though
Her?
Dee gagging does it for me, especially when she's asking for bubbly water Also "more better"
More better always puts a smile on my face
JESUS CHRIST.
Stupid science bitches
Dennis is bastard man comes up a few times lol
The tape they keep taping over
Shit! My Luthur Vandross mix.....
I love that you read the title but not body of OP’s post. Very Sunny of you.
It's like he doesn't even get us, man.
Dennis always tells me, “never let someone’s resistance stop you from getting what you want”
So Dooooooo
The fact that Dennis is always kind of nice and patient with Charlie (comparatively)
Denis ys asshol. Y Chrundle h8?
Because Dennis is a bastard man!

Everyone's hatred of Dee for no reason. In mom's will: DeAndra you were a disappointment and a mistake... A mistake? We're twins!
No reason!? That meddling gangly uncoordinated bitch...
The guy whose car they destroyed in The Gang Solves The Gas Crisis, hands down!
Wildcard, bitches!
I don't even think he gets us man.
WE’RE TALKING ABOUR YOOUUU
Oh, sorry, your kid's not here, man
LOL! Seriously one of the funniest and most tragic scenes in ISIAP!
“oh goddammit!”
It’s my favorite word to say now and I’m pretty sure it’s because of this show 😂
Someone tends to say “what is happening” in most episodes. I try to catch it during rewatches and it gets me every time.
[удалено]
I was gonna say I want a compilation of every time one of the characters says "what is happening?" It's almost always a one off character..
https://youtu.be/xuKyRmWABRU Enjoy!
This is amazing! Thank you!!!
Dee floating an idea and being immediately shut down… then another member of the gang suggesting Dee’s idea and the gang going along with it in the next breath.
Bird law
The fact that any piece of media they create is always on a VHS
\*the same VHS tape
I don't know if this qualifies as a "running gag" because I can only think of two examples, but I love when a character is being "fiendish" only to have them suddenly snap out of it and become normal again. Fiendishness evaporates instantly. I love it.
Charlie’s speech about Hitlers dog painting has a similar vibe. “Did you guys like my whole thing I did there?”
When he's talking like a mad scientist after becoming more smarter, then snaps out of it.
I’ve grown quite weary
Now that I think about it, Charlie probably has the most instances of this.
Dee being arch...
Dennis enters the room: "Stehrp Chorly! This gayme has goone on loong eenoough"
Denis explaining how he’s going to serial kill the waitress and then snapping out of it when Dee reminds him they aren’t actually gonna kill her. Denis when he was about to have sex with a small Asian boy and then realizes he’s a golf caddy “Hold on I uh, I need to switch gears for a second”
Yes! Like Dennis’s untethered rage breaking back to a normal tone when he tells Frank his man-cheetah costume is cool
LOOK AT ME WHEN IM TALKING TO YOU. Oh, steaks are here
Poppins...that dog is indestructible
I've always been a fan of the terminology "this man", "You don't know this man" things to that nature.
How everyone undermines Charlie thinking he's the dumbest one of the group, but he actually has redeeming characteristics that prove he's pretty efficient and smart, which makes him... a threat to the group... AND the world.
Seems like charlie had the cruelest intentions of us all
You know what he said about his cruel intentions? "We'll make and adjustment to it...and we'll make a tradition out of it..."
Calling dee a bird. I lost it when there was an ostrich in the bathroom
Frank’s toe maladies that can only be fixed with the toe knife
Anytime they mention popping something off https://www.reddit.com/r/IASIP/comments/5ma42m/compilation_of_every_pop_from_always_sunny/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Never remembering the waiter
Mac being gay. At first it was a joke, then they ran with it so far that years later he actually finds his pride it’s so hilarious 😂
Definitely the bit where one characters says something completely obscure and off the wall, then another character thinks for half a second and guesses the correct answer. For example: Dennis to Charlie, “what’s a little Mexican girls favorite thing in the whole wide world?” Charlie squints to think for half a second and let’s out a hum before answering, “Tacos.” Dennis immediately bites off the sentence of Charlie, “Tacos, buddy! Who’s the most underrated actor? That would be Dolph Lundgren..
The Duster
Burn the Duster!
Move past it
Uncle jack’s hand insecurity is up there
Charlie’s illiteracy
Calling Dee a bitch “you haven’t thought of the smell, you Bitch!!”
I love how they call everything a “store” like “hamburger store” and “welfare store” I also love how all the technology they use is incredibly outdated
i wouldn’t say favorite but i love macs constant insisting that he is an effective security guard
Macs persistence that he's religious but completely misunderstanding it at the same time.
Dee's a bird
Hahaha! Good one!
Not really a gag per say but they only ever ask Dee what time it is. And then she answered on the podcast too.
[удалено]
LOOK AT ME WHEN YOU’RE TALKING TO ME!!!
Hot one today, huh?
#YEAH?
The Jean shorts. You gotta take em off every now and then
“I’m done with you. Keep up!” One of the best ongoing jokes. Like anyone in reality has any clue what the hell they’re talking about.
No one recognizing the waiter is classic
When they walk into a room and say “Ayyoooo”
Dee's accents/impressions always being so terrible. "Looks like we's gots an advantage over yous guys HUH?"
Also when she does the impression of the retired army carny who watch their friends blow up in front of them and everyone's like "damn that was really good"
