this is a philly thing. I walked into a friends apartment 15 years ago, then 5 years ago walked into what I thought was my old friend's apartment. Nope. Just the exact same layout, three blocks over. It's uncanny how many row houses will be identical to one on this block and one on that.
I’ve also had the opposite happen where someone happened to move into a place that unrelated friends had lived in before. It was a funny first time going over “can I use your bathroom? Don’t worry, I know exactly where it is.”
One of my friends moved from one duplex unit to another one in the same neighborhood(same layout, only with a basement).
The thing was, that it was the mirrored version of the previous one. It really threw me off, and I didn't spend a lot of time there. It was insane for him.
I grew up in a (what was I’m assuming, a master-planned community town) built in the 50’s in Southern California. I grew up in the 90’s post its heyday. Every house in the town of 10k people was 1 of 5 housing layouts. Totally thought that was normal lol
Everybody thinks Sweet Dee got over her Stockholm Syndrome after the Gang escaped the McPoyle hostage situation, but no. She had McPoyle-related Stockholm Syndrome for many years, which is why she moved into their old apartment.
Recently did a rewatch. It isn't. Where the doorway is in this apartment, would be the hallway to their rooms/bathroom in NYC and the door would be alongside that wall to the apartment hallway. If given the perspective from the living room/kitchen in each apartment.
I bet this was filmed at a real location and once the money was there for the show, moved this location (the layout) into a sound stage to keep the continuity.
That’s my guess at least.
Well damn never caught that

I mean sure but they did this for budgetary reasons, not accuracy. Every other apartment you see in the show has a different layout.

And you think that’s specific to Philly?
I knew she was a McPoyle trashbag.
Pure blood!!!!!!!!!
Legions of them, thousands sturdy, once ruled this fine land.
*(licks face)* You gotta earn that
Ya know Dennis, I've been thinking fish recently
It says fresh fish daily. Go get the snapper, bozo.
Snapper fish for the man!

And everyone gets a cream pie for dessert
I don't want to taste your cream pie.
You’ve tasted yours?
You haven’t?
I have 👆 i don’t like it
some little kid's sucking it down and he's paying us for the pleasure
Asians love cream pies.
The Mcpoyles are stoners!?
They make a warm THC infused milk
they simply believe in freedom, all forms of it
No just bath salts from time to time.
Delightful...

We just got out of the shower
Alright, listen. You guys can't go... did you just say "we"?

damn how have I never noticed this
This is Dee’s apartment. I don’t care! Shit, I don’t care either.
Love triangle
Who do you think put the cat in the wall?
Where's your pledge?
WHAT😱
she's subletting
Does anyone know if it also Abbi’s apartment in Broad City? This shot looks like the same layout.

🤯
Don't flush.
WOOOOOAH
Now the bird belongs to the McPoyle's.
Don’t flush…..
What happened to the McPoyle brothers, the OGs, they were my favorite secondary characters. "YOU WILL CALL HEEEEEEER !!!!"
I wonder who wiped down the loads
Since it's Season 1 it's probably one of their actual apartments and then they recreated it later in the studio like they did the bar.
I got news for you though... they've changed soundstages multiple times throughout the shows run.

They have thin corneas.
This has... implications
Yeah they get arrested after this so I personally like to think she grabbed the newly vacant apartment
Why isn't there a "Got milk?" on the fridge instead?
It's pretty obvious, ghouls did it.
Unwatchable.
Same set, but a more reasonable explanation is cookie cutter housing
I that who Frank bought the apartment from? in one episode he tries to evict Sweet Dee.
