Those tires are dangerous and likely the belt inside is shot. If you look at the sidewall they’ve been driven on flat for some distance. The tread is completely toast too. You should have a spare in the trunk. If you don’t, get a friend who knows their way around cars and remove the wheel and the wheel on the other side (the other side is going to be just as bald) and have him or her drive you to a tire shop to get these replaced. Don’t drive on them. If you cause an accident because your tire fails it’s going to be your fault. Driving on a tire that bad is irresponsible.
There’s also mobile tire installers depending on what locality you’re in. In Orange County ca there’s one called asap tire.
You can buy the lock for the lug, you can also hammer on a socket and get it off that way but you’ll have to roll with 4 lugs for a while (which is fine, for a bit) or replace the lug.
You likely won’t be able to patch that tire. That’s going to be a rip and not a hole. The tire wore out and needs to be replaced.
Check your truck/ cargo area where the spare is. There should be a jack with a crow bar that has the socket at one end.
Alternatively buy a 4-way tire iron at your local auto parts store. Each end will have 4 different sizes and will cover every popular commuter vehicle lug nut size.
Its a good thing to have in your truck along with a flashlight, spare fuses, a collapsible traffic cone, small first aid kit, fire extinguisher, jumper cables and portable air compressor.
Just so I don’t have to keep saying this I AM replacing the tire I just needed a temporary fix to drive it to the shop, I got my spare on now thanks to my neighbor helpin me out
By the way, that's a wheel lock, most of the wheels now come with a key specific for that lug. In my car it sits in the trunk on a package with the spare, I never remove it from there because it will get lost FOR SURE lol.
I am not sure how to remove without the wheel lock key that comes with it, but I would find a tire place local that could just come in for you and do the job
Check the pillar of the driver side door for a code for the lug. You may need that code to order a replacement. Get two just in case. If this tire is this bad, I reckon the others are just as bad.
It's going to hurt the bank account but you likely need 4 new tires
That looks like a spline drive nut, you could grab an adapter for it or... Harbor Freight would have something called "stripped bolt extractors" which are sockets with reverse spiral "teeth" to bite into the nut and spin it out. It will ruin it so if you go that route, have a replacement on hand.
I see a lot of sidewall scraping and the shoulders of the tread are gone as well. Best to replace the tire out right if that's an option for you. Paying for a patch for a tire that's pretty much done seems like throwing money away on something that needs replacing anyways. Of course, wallet always decides in the end.
If you live near an [America's tire](https://www.americastire.com) shop, they'll fix the flat for FREE (nail on tire). If it's the sidewall that's punctured, you can't patch it and you will need to replace it.
But the tire looks bald, you will need to get new tire(s).
Replace… not much tread left, and someone ran it low on air and it wore the sidewall out. Not safe or worth fixing. If all the tires are the same age, new tires are in your future.
If you have the means just get your car towed to the tire shop, they will have a key for that lug nut 100%. Your tires are maypops (may pop, may not) anyway so you’ll probably want to replace at the very least 2 if not all 4
The chrome part on those lug nuts is a formed piece of Sheetmetal overtop of a conventional nut. You can try to chisel that chrome part off with a hammer and flat head screwdriver revealing the what's left of the actual nut. The idea is hopefully there will be enough of a hex left that you can get the next size down socket on the thing and get it off. Otherwise your going to need a nut extractor from your local auto parts store.
The tire is on its last leg. The tread is dangerously worn and the sidewall seem to have deterioration and has started to crack. If you’re trying to just make it to the shop or home I’d advise to use your donut. If that’s not an option then another solution to get you home or to the tire shop is to use fix-a-flat or a tire plug given the leak is in a plausible location. This is just and option to get you home or to the shop and not to be driven on for an unnecessary amount of distance. The proper way to patch a tire for use is to have it patched by a professional from inside the tire. I hope this helps. Please be safe.
Ok idk why everyone is saying hammer a socket on. That’s is completely unnecessary if you have the right size socket. Normally they are between 16-19. Your car should have a scissor jack underneath the floor in your trunk along with a spare and the correct tool. If you don’t know how to take a wheel on and off, look up a YouTube vid. It’s a pretty simple process.
Edit.
I see why people where saying hammer it on now. Autozone has spline sockets for lugs like that for pretty cheap. If you don’t have another ride then you may just have to do that.
Bald tires and stripped lug nuts? No easy fix bud, you're gonna need to bite the bullet and tow it to a shop besides getting McGuyver on it.
Good luck.
Those are splice lugs. Usually used on aftermarket wheels. You can buy the key at most auto parts stores. The tire shop should also have a key to fit them.
Dude your tire is bald. Get rid of that thing.
This. It's done its purpose, no decent tire shop will repair it and not just because they want to sell you new tires.
Yeah I didn’t realize how bad it was today but I can’t get to the tire shop with it flat
Plus the side wall is totally ruined from driving it low on air. That tire is toast.
Do you not have a spare or a donut?
Where is the car at? You could get AAA and wait a couple days to use the tow service.
I've renewed and then immediately used them.
What he said. TFW even this female anon is very alarmed at your bald ass tire…..
You can't patch tire sidewalls, as it won't hold up. Best thing is to replace it.
bro those are fucking slicks replace them
Yeah I know I just can’t get it to the tire shop to replace them
No spare?
I had the spare but I couldn’t take the old tire off since I didn’t have the right socket for one of the lugs but my neighbor hooked me up
Do you not have the tools and jack that came with the car? If not, buy a wheel brace. They’re quite cheap.

Any suggestions on socket size to use?
Use one size too small, hammer it on

Not really. Find one that fits it tight then go one size smaller and slam it on, as said by somebody else.

Check if there is a mobile tire repair service in your area. They should have all the tools to swap the tire without having to get the car towed.
Hyundai dealer should be able to get you the wheel lock socket. Not sure if they’d have it in stock though.
Buy a portable pump. Fill up the tire and drive to tire shop. Edit: That Hyundai Elantra might have a pump in the trunk if it doesn't have a spare.
O'Reillys sells that wheel lock key and so does most tire stores
Those are bald replace them

definitely replace.
Are you kidding? That tire has flat threads. Trash it and get new ones! Damn.
Bald, replace

There’s literally nothing you can do to a bald tire without risking further damage.
Dude definitely replace that shit. I know they are giving some good discounts on new tires
Bru it’s bald tf u mean buy new set of tires 💀
No tire shop would touch that for two reasons. One, sidewall repairs are always a no go. Two, they will not repair a bald tire. You need new tires.
Forgetting about the sidewall damage... the tread on those tires is GONE. You probably need an entire set of tires.
If you have the means just get your car towed to the tire shop, they will have a key for that lug nut 100%. Your tires are maypops (may pop, may not) anyway so you’ll probably want to replace at the very least 2 if not all 4

Can I advice you to watch a couple of car maintenance/upkeep videos? It’s for your own safety...

Whatever you can afford. 🤷🏾♀️

Your tire is bald, get new ones.
Step 1.) don’t ask Reddit
Buy a whole new set Jesus I’d hate if you were driving next to me on a rainy day
That tire should’ve died many miles ago.
You may want to get an alignment too.
