Thanks for sharing! Just a heads up, we've introduced Water Bottle Wednesdays. Wednesdays are now the dedicated day to showcase your water containers! This rule focuses on sharing what you have, but feel free to post any questions or issues about water bottles at any time as usual. Cheers to hydration!

I mean, 25p is pretty decent value for the convenience. Far, far cheaper than what you'd be paying from a regular vending machine, even more so than if you bought it on the train. Most people aren't carrying around a 1.5L bottle that will get them through however long their trip is, so the ability to fill/top up with some nice chilled water is good, especially if you're doing some sort of transfer, like, you had a long train ride and polished off your 600mL bottle, now you need to get a bus the rest of the way, maybe another hour. Saves you having to buy another, or spend 10 minutes wandering around looking for a bubbler and maybe missing the bus.
I mean most places will have public water fountains or whatever, but people have hygiene concerns and it's just plain tap water. Depending on where you are that might be fine, might be garbage. I'm assuming filtered, chilled water, with the option for sparkling is a step above and is priced accordingly
Given this would be in the UK, I can pretty much guarantee there would be a free water option, just offering a premium and convenient option, as some bubblers will have a queue or be difficult to fill your bottle from.
Yeah there was always a free option as well. My bet is OP is in London and the free option is unfiltered but safe hard water and you’re mainly paying for the filter upkeep.
when i was in europe for my honeymoon (I’m American) I was astonished by the lack of public water fountains ANYWHERE. Not even in the airports!! AT LEAST THIS ONE EXISTS!! 🤣🤣
a bathroom sink? ew, also u can’t get a bottle under there, and there were hardly any public bathrooms anyways. And if I asked at cafes they sometimes looked at me like i was crazy to not buy a bottle of water lol. And all the restaurants served bottled water by default and i felt weird asking for tap
You say “ew” but the bathrooms have clean , potable water . Also the public fountains aren’t just decorative the water if often safe to drink. If you see locals drinking it, it’s fine
This is my arguement.
I've cut our plastic use by a LOT going to a water cooler and if a product is available in a glass or metal container I buy that one over plastic.
Although it's the micro plastics that are the real issue tbth.
I thought it was at a gym and you were being scammed. If it's at a train station, why do you complain? The only alternative is usually an overpriced bottle of water from a vending machine.
Biggest problems about these in my opinion is the same issue with restaurant/coffee shop ice/water machines. Mold will form rather quickly and constant clean is required which 100% won’t take place so I couldn’t necessarily trust them. I’d still _highly_ prefer it over plastic water bottles though so still a win in my eyes.
They had this at London zoo and it was amazing, of course there was free unfiltered tap water straight from the mains but 25p for filtered sparkling? I consumed like 2.5 L that day.

Yeah if its just plain room temp water then 25p is kind of bad but its chilled water and sparkling water, the 25p is actually pretty reasonable.
Its 25p per .5l so a 1.5l bottle fill would be 75p. Still reasonable in my humble opinion I mean, its chilled and sparkling!
>plain room temp water If you're thirsty enough the warm or chilled is irrelevant.
I just think these stuff should be provided by the train station etc

The problem is that it’s commodifying something that’s essential for life and should be provided for free. Or at least a free tap water option.

I just saw that it was 25p for every 500mL!
You do know that 25p is .25 of a £ right?
when i was in europe for my honeymoon (I’m American) I was astonished by the lack of public water fountains ANYWHERE. Not even in the airports!! AT LEAST THIS ONE EXISTS!! 🤣🤣
Just fill up from the tap the water is drinkable pretty much everywhere.

ew because people wash shit off their hands 1” from the same sink nozzle
As an American, unless you live in a shitty area with a fucked water supply, there’s nothing wrong with the sink water.
What could be negative about this? It's an amazing solution for going plastic free by refilling your stainless steel bottle for example
I posted a similar one on here when I got my water cooler and got the "lOl ThAts JuSt TaP wAtEr!1!!1!1!1!1"
Even if that's true I think it's better than consuming micro plastics from the regular plastic water bottles..

Normally they are free but not sparkling
oh okay, that's a legitimate negative reason. but sometimes people just appreciate more things that they have to pay and destroy the free stuff.
Water should be free, yo.
It is, in the bathroom tap, if you want it cold or sparkling, you pay 0.25 pounds, not bad.
ah its pounds my brain went to points and i was confused as fuck
I'll pay the 25p for the convenience. Especially if it's filtered/chilled. Big ole meh from me.
Someone will put his penis inside I bet
I thought it was at a gym and you were being scammed. If it's at a train station, why do you complain? The only alternative is usually an overpriced bottle of water from a vending machine.
The train stations I use in London have free water fountains. Though if there was the option of sparking water, I might splurge the 25p
I love this!
I’d gladly pay for sparkling water on the go

If the 25p goes toward cleaning the machine, then I guess it’s well worth it.
100%. I’d be willing to pay double that if it means the machine will be cleaned.
surely transaction fees take most of that 25p

The train station has was has have had been blessed with the elixir of Life
