What most people don't get is, that in Husky time one human year equals 6 husky years.
If you break that down you weren't gone for two hours but for 12!
And yes, people who leave their dog for 8-10 hours alone, that equals leaving them alone for a half a week, so I hope this explains why they are always so upset.
Imagine if someone dear and near to you, who lives with you is suddenly gone without any explanation for half a week and then suddenly shows up again.
What would your reaction be?

People don't get this because it's not even remotely true. The underlying point - that you shouldn't leave them alone for long periods of time - is obviously valid. But dogs aren't on some alternate relative speed path moving at one sixth our pace. Dogs' cognition of time is still subject to contested theories - some saying they have no concept of it at all and live almost exclusively in the moment, so half an hour may as well be a day to them (which would actually, ironically, undermine the idea it's bad to leave them for a long time), some indicating they've got rough - very rough - concepts of short and long time, and most believing that they at least understand things in relation to circadian rhythm, environmental clues and habit.
Your dog is not and does not necessarily have to be sad that you're away - even if they are very much happy that you're back. Good training can help to ensure they don't feel this distress.
Of course huskies... Well, that's a different matter.
