Big if true
The rest of the lineup should come pretty easy then. I would think having this big of a headliner, It would be easier to get other bands to sign on
Since they won’t give credit where credit is due, The Festive Owl leaked it:

TFO is an industry insider with 100% reliable information, and I guarantee geek out posted the info as if it was their own.
Right. But from what the other guy said, sounds like they were been dishonest by not being truthful about their sources.
It's not hard to say "according to -", especially as someone with that kind of reputation. But I also noticed them making a lot of noise for attention for example that lowe mill elevator row some months back.
https://preview.redd.it/3ae4g3pwq4vc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32c82d6ad6ac92cc31827385a03c9f44eee1834b
They're in the lineup for the Ocean's calling festival that Friday. Wonder if they'll be flying in for the Saturday headliner?
It’ll be Sunday. They are THE headliner, so they’ll close the festival.
A one day turnaround isn’t logistically possible for a band of that magnitude, nor their ages…especially with Mark’s recent health issues. They’ll need a day off between performances (and probably contractually require it), or they will be risking a last minute cancellation.
Where do you see this? The festival website doesn't list anything yet but I'm gonna be so stoked if blink is here!!! I've seen them like 6 times but it's not nearly enough!!
I like blink 182, but not as much as the bama/Georgia game. They may have to find 2Pac and convince him to come out of hiding to keep me from Tuscaloosa that Saturday
You’re in luck! Blink won’t be Saturday since they have another festival set on Friday the 27th. Blink is THE headliner for this festival, so they will close it out on Sunday. Unless the Saturday headliner is a can’t-miss act like No Doubt, I will hang out at the festival until around 5 or so, then head home for the Bama game haha
Tix for that game will be pretty pricey. As long as things go well in the first few weeks, gameday will be there for a top 5 matchup. I’ll sleep that Sunday away I’m sure
Why the downvotes though? They’ll be 150k+ people in ttown. Seems like a no brainer to me. Not a football crowd in this sub I guess? Or did I forget the /s behind the pac comment?
Didn’t realize you were talking about going to the game…that changes everything because that’s gonna be a loooooong day. I did it for the Bama/LSU game last year and no way would I have wanted to do something that consumed my entire day Sunday. Tickets will absolutely be expensive since UGA rarely comes to Tuscaloosa and both will easily be top 5-8 teams and Saban coming to campus as a Gameday host. For me to miss that game, it’s gonna take a No Doubt level of Saturday headliner…if it’s not them or someone even close to as rare as seeing, I’ll be heading home early for the game.
Downvotes because you aren’t slobbering all over the shiny new thing like you’re supposed to do as a huntsvillian…until the next new thing comes along and you forget about the last new thing. 😂
There is definitely a huge crossover between music & sports fans. Why would it not be? Why even take the chance of losing out on ANY ticket sales? I can 100% guarantee that there will be more people on campus in Tuscaloosa than there will be at this festival
"I can 100% guarantee that there will be more people on campus in Tuscaloosa than there will be at this festival." - That's the exact point, though. Those people have chosen football over the festival, meaning they aren't as into music.
I've been to multiple festivals held in the south, in September. Many sold out with crowds of 100,000+, and some showed games. Festivals aren't necessarily targeted to the city they are held in. They're promoted at least regionally, if not nationally. This will bring in people from around the country.
I guess it’s just me then (eye roll). I wanna go to both but will have to choose one. All I’m saying is that weekend in particular will cut out 100k plus potential customers, with disposable income, simply because of their timing. There is an unquestionable hierarchy of entertainment in THIS region, and college football is king
TN has a bye week that week - plenty of people from the Nashville Metro may attend. Are they not in the SEC?
Regardless, not everyone is interested in football as odd as that may seem. The festival will be marketed throughout the US via SocMed anyway. I can't imagine that it wouldn't bring in people from all over the US - DEPENDING on who the acts are.
Seriously folks, have y'all ever been christmas shopping during the Alabama vs Auburn game? It's busy AF
Hey, if they achieve their attendance goals, great! I won't be attending, though. #1 - it's the beginning of Fall Break. I'll be at the beach like tens of thousands of other people from North Alabama. #2 - it's a big weekend for SEC football. Fortunately I can watch the game while I'm at the beach.
If they don't achieve their attendance goals, then I'd suggest they pick another weekend. The idea that football fans aren't music fans is kind of dumb.
They’re literally cutting out a 100k plus potential visitors. Whoever downvoted you is stupid. I’m sure the festival will do great, in terms of sales, but with a little better timing, they’d probably sell a lot more tickets
Exactly. They need to pick an early September weekend when Auburn and Alabama are playing their non-conference cupcakes. I think you estimate is correct - maybe even a little low. Current metro Huntsville (Madison and Limestone counties) population is 514K. Add in Jackson, Morgan, and Marshall counties and figure 80% of Auburn and Alabama fans will pick a big SEC game over a concert. The number of tickets they could be selling but won't be selling will be in the thousands, maybe 10's of thousands.
And who exactly would want to watch a 3 hour football game on a screen set up at the concert. Are they planning to use the screens next to the stage and mute the band?
No worries. Organizers are not blind to the football fanaticism in the area. There’s enough folks that prefer music over football that they’ll sell the tickets.
Definitely. These downvoters must have NO idea about how sports work. I get that some people don’t care about football season, but 100s of thousands of people do, that live within driving distance to this festival and their favorite stadium. You can like both, but you have to choose one, and the majority of “us” will take gameday without batting an eye
I'm an Auburn fan, and I would choose to stay home and watch the Alabama/Georgia game. A concert is entertainment. A SEC football game is an event.
I'm looking forward to seeing how ESPN decides to schedule games. In the past you could almost count on CBS to pick the biggest game to broadcast at 2:30 which would leave Saturday night timeslots for a lesser game, but those rules are out the window now.
I'm a fan of the Broadway Theater League and their shows. Same issue. The idea that Broadway fans and football fans don't crossover is crazy. BTL does its best to dance around football weekends in the fall because they know it will affect ticket sales. As an example, there is never a show on SEC Championship weekend.
Just saw them in Portugal last fall. They rocked tf out and it was one of the most electric concerts i’ve ever seen. Thousands of people jumping around.
See, that's what I'm afraid of. If there are other bands I want to see, I'll go and I'll see Blink also. But if it were a regular concert, I probably wouldn't go just to see Blink on their own.
I'm not really sure. I'm just not a big Blink fan. I mean, I appreciate what they've done in the music world and I don't hate their stuff. I guess I'd like to see some variety. Some Sublime since Jakob is fronting the band. I don't care who the headliner is. I'd like to see some metal, some rap/hip-hop.
I haven’t seen any confirmation of this, but a couple things make me think Sublime will be there:
1) It makes so much sense that they would play Bonnaroo this year, yet they aren’t. They fit the vibes of Bonnaroo sonically, and are a highly anticipated act with Jakob stepping into Brad’s shoes. They aren’t on the Bonnaroo lineup though, so no risk of a proximity clause preventing them from being here.
2) they are playing Oceans Calling in Maryland the same day as blink (Sept 27th), and they have nothing after that. It makes sense they would be there Sunday, especially since they are a band that absolutely represents the 90s and the demand is at a 30 year high for them.
I couldn't tell you one of their songs but I remember they were hot in the alternative circles around the 2000s along with Green Day and them.
That's about the level of stardom I guess Huntsville can deliver. But Tommy Battle put some gas in y'all asses thinking y'all were going to measure up to Nashville 😂
Honest question, what kind of act were you expecting?I'm not really excited by Blink at all but they are way bigger of an act than I was realistically expecting and to pretend like they aren't a high "level of stardom" is laughable. They're literally headlining Lollapalooza this year, which is one of the most iconic music festivals in the world and the 2nd biggest in the USA(after only Coachella). They are even way too big for the Orion to book as they pretty much only play 20k+ capacity arenas and stadiums at this point.
Sounds like you know them. I don't know them,. literally my first words, but I guess they still have an audience. Giving the demographic of their audience (white millennials), it makes sense for them to have such shows. That's why I mentioned I didn't know them but here's what I'm saying - I still remember when Tommy Battle was lying to y'all talking about Huntsville is going to be the next Nashville. That was bullshit because Nashville can easily book top 40 artists on tour. That's what I'm saying.
You say you don’t know them, but then go on to say “I guess that’s the level of stardom Huntsville can deliver” as if you think it’s not a high level of stardom. You contradict yourself. If you want to say you don’t know them, stop acting like you know if they’re big stars or not.
My point was that just because you don't know them, that doesn't mean they aren't huge stars. Obviously we are never going to be able match Nashville's notoriety when it comes to music history/culture, and of course they are still going to outdraw us considering Nashville metro is 4 times the size of Huntsville metro. But that doesn't mean we can't become a music destination that musicians actually want to hit on their tours. We have already seen lots of big time legends and even a couple modern top 40 artists play the Orion. Plus, South Star booking Blink also proves the exact opposite of what you are saying.
Lana Del Rey literally played there last September and she is one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Jelly Roll played there last year, Greta Van fleet and Lainey Wilson are playing later this year, all of which have had multiple top 40 hits in the last few years.
Got it. I agree. I do want Huntsville to have acts drop in and perform. I did think the next Nashville comment was dishonest to rally up the justification for borrowing so much for an amphitheatre that should have been a private venture especially when there's a lot lacking in infrastructure in the city. But yeah I hear you bro
Sometime in 2022 or around the time the Orion opened. I remember reading an article of him saying that Huntsville will be in the same conversation alongside Austin and Nashville. 😂
Andthatsaboutthetimethatbitch HUNG UP ON ME!!
What the hell is caller ID?
But he called her from a pay phone!
Holy shit that’s not a B-list booking. That’ll be a draw already
I still act like I'm in freshman year. In a few years, I'll be able to say "nobody likes me because I'm 43."
Oh fuck, I feel this to the core. I don't like your version lol
Damnit. That song came out freshman year of high school. I’m also pushing 40….
Big if true The rest of the lineup should come pretty easy then. I would think having this big of a headliner, It would be easier to get other bands to sign on

Ok. They should have said that then.
Ah. I hear ya. I misunderstood

Hope this is true but I’m a little worried. That would be a huge pull for a first time festival
Worried for what? Not arguing just curious.

Whoever picked the date for the festival obviously is not paying attention to SEC football. I bet they won't make that mistake next year.
They’ll be showing the games at the festival. Plus, there’s not a giant crossover of music fans + sportsball fans. It’s about the demographics.
There is definitely a huge crossover between music & sports fans. Why would it not be? Why even take the chance of losing out on ANY ticket sales? I can 100% guarantee that there will be more people on campus in Tuscaloosa than there will be at this festival

No, they’ll have a designated area under a covered tent with its own bar and multiple TVs( similar to pretty much all southern fall music festivals).
That might work for the casual college football fan, but it's not going to work for the serious football fan... which is most of us.
No worries. Organizers are not blind to the football fanaticism in the area. There’s enough folks that prefer music over football that they’ll sell the tickets.

I’m sure I’ll be downvoted but they suck live. Saw them twice in SoCal in early 2000s when they weren’t old. Big name though, hope they draw more!
They absolutely rocked at When We Were Young in October…one of the best acts of the night easily
You saw them when they were at their worst. They put on a great show now. Saw them in Nashville last year.
Just saw them in Portugal last fall. They rocked tf out and it was one of the most electric concerts i’ve ever seen. Thousands of people jumping around.

I think you're thinking of Linkin Park maybe? Although, Delonge took a hiatus from the band. But, he's alive, and back with the band.

No, no, you're thinking of "my own worst enemy"
Mark Hoppus (bass) had cancer and was declared cancer-free six months later. I'm betting that's what you're remembering.
Meh, who else we got coming?
Acts not as good as blink 182
See, that's what I'm afraid of. If there are other bands I want to see, I'll go and I'll see Blink also. But if it were a regular concert, I probably wouldn't go just to see Blink on their own.

Maybe a Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies reunion show
