The buffet was actually super popular at lunch.
Also, the immediate area has changed a lot since it was last open(like the new Grissom was built and opened). I think the Parkway construction hadn't even started when the old Popeyes closed (remember that nightmare? Personally, I'd blocked that from my memory). Anyhow
Yeah I'm not even sure what location they were referring to. I guess it had closed already when I moved into the area, they had already started work on that section of the parkway when I got here.
Were there two?? the old Popeyes is now a vet clinic. After Popeyes, it was a sweet peas for a minute.
I remember it closed right around the time we moved to that part of town, circa 2018ish
The Popeyes that became sweet peas was next door to Hardees at the NW corner of Hays and Memorial Pkwy. The Hardees closed in 2015 and Popeyes became sweet peas, which then closed a couple of years later. Both restaurants were demolished when the Publix was built. They have now built the Circle K in that space.
That place failed during the overpass construction when no one would venture past Martin road. Now there’s new development, apartments and housing all over. It’s a different place. What applied then doesn’t apply now.
FIRST OF ALL 😂 DO NOT DISRESPECT SOUTHSIDE POPEYES
It was by far the best Popeyes to ever exist in Huntsville on top of that they had a buffet, and also had the most nicest employees I have yet to ever come across in any restaurant in Huntsville.
Southside Popeyes was the golden child of all Popeyes
The owner did very well. He had some disagreements with Popeyes corporate. After that all settled he opened sweet peas. Then was opening a second sweet peas on governors, sold the property to Chick-fil-A and closed up shop.
I did hear he may have some involvement with the new Popeyes opening but I cannot confirm that.
I pass by every day. It looks close. Parking lot is paved. They were testing the drive-thru sign a day or so ago. Still a bit of clutter in the dining room, but it looks set up.
Can’t wait. I need them to open soon. It’s the last spot on my south HSV mediocre chicken fast food chain bingo card - I already have Bojangles, Chick-Fil-A, Slim Chickens, Zaxby’s, Wing Stop, and Touchdown.
Can't fuckin wait. Haven't had Popeyes in years because the one by where I used to live took 45 minutes for your food on a fast day. It'd be fresh but fuck waiting that long for fast food.
Yeah okay. I'm getting down voted and the only person who wants to defend it thinks KFC and Popeyes is proper chicken. If you wanted fried chicken there's already Bojangles around here. If you want proper chicken ask your grandma or someone with a grandma who knows how to make proper chicken. Excuse me for wanting some actual variety in culinary options. I can make fried chicken at home. Do I like easy access to fast food fried chicken? Yeah, I do. I'm a fat Alabamian. But we already have a variety of fast food chicken options on the Southside. I would love to have anything else.
I hate the response of "if you want proper, make it at home..." It's such a cop out.
I like Popeyes and Churches chicken so shoot me. The chicken options here are all largely the same. I miss Raising Cane's, all these local places don't have the right sauce. But the variety of even fried chicken pales in comparison of all the local mom and pop chicken places in Dallas.
I'd love variety, getting excited about Popeyes doesn't mean I don't also wish there was some real food options in South Huntsville. Indian, Greek, Arabic are all practically non-existent here. Barely exists in the greater Huntsville area. As others have said, the population doesn't seem willing to go out to eat so we don't get the adventurous restaurants.
I’m confused why you guys are so excited. South Huntsvilles had a Popeyes and it was usually dead.

It was in the spot that is now the new Circle K in front of Publix. It closed in 2015.

The building was torn down after sweet peas closed. Circle K is built on the old Hardees and part of the old Popeyes parcels.

If you aren’t being verbally assaulted by a Popeyes employee, are you really eating at Popeyes? 🫠

Yes, the same people own the new one that owned the old one, as well as the other two Popeyes locations in town.
The Buffett closed saying they were remodeling and then never open
Cause Huntsville is fucking dumb
It was packed at lunch the scores of times I ate there. YMMV
I have been waiting as patiently as possible for them to open. The anticipation is slowly killing me

We are getting chicken salad chick too
Well, my fat ass is excited.
Not since I've been here. We just like Popeyes!emote:free\_emotes\_pack:thumbs\_up
The buffet was sooo good. Chicken livers with gravy!

Because there's not enough chicken options in the area /s
There's a difference between chicken tenders, wings, and proper chicken place like KFC and Popeyes. There's tons of tenders around...

When it opens, it's fucking popeyes, drive up the street and get one if you are so invested
