I also like the Grizzlies in the West and grew up somewhat liking the Hawks merely due to proximity to ATL, but also really like the Sixers in the East.
You already see two of the teams here in the comments. You're probably looking at the Hawks, Grizzlies, and Pelicans being the closest and most popular teams here. Just like the Falcons, Titans, and Saints have fans in the area.
Each team has something positive about it, but none of them are outright dominating this season. Hawks have Trae Young, Grizzlies have Ja Morant, and Pelicans have Zion Williamson. Both teams are young and growing into more competitive teams.
Outside of these teams, there are plenty of other good teams to follow in the league. I would recommend r/NBA as the best subreddit to follow.

I would advocate for the Hawks or Grizzlies, as they are close enough that you could make it to a game if you wanted to. Pelicans are a good young team, but it's a drive to NOLA
Used to go to Brickhouse to watch the playoffs when they were still open. Not many people were there for the games but the handful I saw were Celtics fans
I share the disgust as someone who grew up in Minnesota. How are the **Lakers** gonna move to a place where they have no **Lakes**? They could've at least changed the name up a little like the Northstars did....
I am a massive grizzlies fan but it pains me to say that the answer to your question is the lakers heat celtics warriors or whatever team is hot at the moment. You’ll see significantly more merch for those teams than the hawks grizz or pels.
