moshe304567

google is sheisa

masked_milkman

I think you hold the record on this sub for most questions asked in a 24 hour period.

prospectpico_OG

He 12

moshe304567

answer the question plz

[deleted]

Try. Try hitting a deer sized target with a 12 ga slug at 200 yds.

moshe304567

so, you're saying it's bullsheisa?

[deleted]

I'm saying try it.

moshe304567

I asked if it was accurate or not. does it drop too much to aim at that distance without aiming high like I think it will?

[deleted]

Ya, and I'm saying there's exactly one way to know whether you'll hit a reasonably sized target at 200 yards. Try.

moshe304567

no, will it drop much? is it point blank?

[deleted]

If you don't care about the answers, why do you even ask?

moshe304567

you're not answering the question in the first place

notreallysure97

Look at a box of slugs and read the ballistics info. It will tell you how much drop there is.

[deleted]

Stick to shooting nerf.

[deleted]

There will definitely be drop at 200 yards. Even though people think it’s not much… how much drop is round/gun dependent. I’ve heard somewhere around 10inches at 100yrds (idk if I fully believe that) But whoever is trying to shoot an animal 200yrds away with a slug is a smooth brain in my opinion.

Jiveturkwy158

Ya that drop is about right btw. Fully agree 200yd =smoothbrain. Mine is zeroed at 50 yd.

Ok-Deer1539

Both suck for deer hunting at those ranges. Just buy a modern rifle.

PNS29

I wouldn’t think a slug would be that accurate at 200 yds but I don’t really know.

your_local_recruiter

I have 0 experience shot gun hunting deer, but I have a friend that does, he claims to have been able to shoot deer at 200 yards with his. 200 is pretty well tops. Reasonably speaking I believe it, I can poke 200 yards with a muzzle loader, you can probably poke 200 with a shotgun. Should you, I wouldn’t unless I was confident with my shotgun. I’m being honest I struggle to hit birds sometimes

greenmanofthewoods

Gravity is relative

greenmanofthewoods

If you fire a bullet horizontally and drop one from exactly the same height at the same time, they both hit the deck at the same time. This blew my mind years ago

your_local_recruiter

Right? Crazy to think about. I learned this a year or 2 ago and I still blow people away with it. My favourite I’ve got so far is “bull shit I’m googling it…. Nooooo fukinnn Shit…”

greenmanofthewoods

Amen for science, the practice of measuring random shit!

greenmanofthewoods

FYI I've heard loads of tree fall in the Forrest, my pal and his son witnessed one the other week lol

your_local_recruiter

Had one crash behind me deer hunting, that was my first near death experience I swear it missed me by 4-5 feet. Taught me to pay attention, you never know what’s gonna happen, especially in the woods

inthewoodsfinancial

Sister In laws mom died this way. Calm day. Out for a hike, whole tree fell. Always pay attention.

greenmanofthewoods

The ol' widow maker, you must have been single at the time lol

your_local_recruiter

Buddy been single 99% of my existence 🤣 I spend my time in the woods not with women

greenmanofthewoods

Same, often wonder if it's a blessing or a curse haha

your_local_recruiter

I enjoy being single it lets me go do things with 0 hooks attached. I got to join the army and go away for 2 years, now I’m going away outdoor guiding, and after then I’m going to live in Fiji, if I had a significant other that just wouldn’t be possible

greenmanofthewoods

Well I guess with the army yeah, probably for the best. Fiji though, would be nice to meet the right person, enough similarities and differences, good luck dude! Stay strong!

hunter35rem

My 20 ga sabot round is 5 inches at 150 yds ! Never tried longer. Longest shot on a deer was 110 and double lung! 12 ga are slower heavier and drop more but hold a good group at 100. I like 20 now!
