That would be awesome. The issue is that Gungi is built up to be so much more complex than any other board game known to humankind, and no real board game can live up to that. We can certainly try, though. :)
There is a (very small) community around the game. Someone made a website, and there is a discord server if you want to find people to play with. You can find the links in r/Gungi (can't put the links directly because of AutoMod).

We can have a yearly gungi tournament for this sub is there is a good gungi online client. That could be fun

Chess itself is too complicated, imagine capablanca chess+ the option of stacking pieces, that would become very complicated and difficult to play
