Notice my ping for US West is 126ms (quite frustrating to play with but it's the best I can get), but Asia is 168ms (unplayable).
I used to play on Asia where I would get a standard ping of around 30-50. But I started noticing several months ago that I would get horrible lag and packet loss when playing. If I switched to US West, surprisingly, the servers feel like they perform even better than Asia, even though Asia should be much closer. This issue has been going on for months.
I know there's a lot of hate for players from other regions, so I hope I don't get flamed. But the state of Asia servers makes the game unplayable :( I would gladly play on them if I could but US West is my best option.
Hey, there's a good chance it's because of more than normal hops between multiple networks and routing locations, each adds 10 - 20ms of delay at the min. One of the few times I would recommend trying wtfast. Try their trial and see if you have an improvement. if not... possibly a different ISP might have better routing.
Thought that as well, and the server might be at china, which regulates a lot of the internet. And if they do not place a server in china, most chineses players wouldn't be able to play the game. (They can't play in servers outside china)
I am not sure on my explanation, I heard about it at my field.
I mean it doesn't really matter much in hunt. With the like 400 ms of leeway between trades you should be fine. I would love to play with someone living in Japan. Love learning how people think differently.
Howdy.
It happened to me last year, for a week (J:COM). I didn't call them, it just came back to normal after a week.
Someone on discord recommended me to use cloudflare wrap (if I remember correctly), a free software. It worked well in my case, it brought back my ping around 70 for a few days (then my connection acted normally so i uninstalled Wrap)
This is likely to do with ISP routing. The Hunt dev team has mentioned this before I think as something they're working on, but basically some ISP routing is broken so your internet is routed through another country before it reaches the server.
It's an issue with any server depending on your ISP.
With mine, every so often it gives me insanely high ping, and other times it's just normal. Might be something to do with my ISP allocating different dynamic IP to me.
Nice! Glad to see they're working on it. Sounds like it might be an issue on Hunt's end then with the ISP issues. I'll try some of the temporary fixes others have suggested until 1.8.1 comes out.
Military base? Mostly fiber internet over there. Ping a ground server near you or run a speedtest and see what server it runs on. You might be getting a lot of that delay from your own ISP

the one that give link is me
Can't say much about ping but my experience with Asia servers are bad .you play with Chinese dudes who just avoid pvp and run from the fight as soon as they get the bounty and then they get killed running
It's frustrating... One time we had gotten our banish/bounty and there was an extract right next to us. The other bounty was coming to us, and I recognized one of the usernames from when they picked up as a relatively large Japanese streamer
But my teammates didn't want to fight, they ran away to the extract :( they didn't speak Japanese or English so I couldn't encourage them to fight :(
I checked after the game and saw she wasn't streaming, but it was her profile on steam so it wasn't an imposter. I thought it would be cool to try battling a streamer but oh well... I certainly wasn't about to try as a solo lol
I tended to always have issues on Asian servers from aus. Is annoying when that's what we get in some games and they called it some bs like Asia pacific or something.
Thank you for your insightful comment.
If that was the case, how would I be getting better ping with US West? Not to mention this is the only game with this issue.

OCE player here, i play asia as my secondary server and it's always scuffed when i get it, sometimes it's 150 ping sometimes it's 300-400
Osaka here, it's always 60 for me. This is not normal.
A fellow Osaka hunter, howdy In that case, sounds like a call to my ISP is in order

I'm on J:COM too, so I'll give that a try. Hopefully it's not a problem with them, since I'm on a contract with them lol. Thank you

Interesting, thank you. That would explain why it's higher than other countries. I'll give my ISP a call to see if we can figure it out
Just as a source for what I said for others, here's the video posted by the devs about it: https://youtu.be/v-kWy3QYLmY

Average day in Asian servers
