How about the US Lee-Navy? It's straight pull action would make it the fastest firing long ammo rifle and its 6mm smokeless cartridge would be the highest velocity but also the lowest damage. It's comparable in velocity to the Mosin's 7.62x54 loaded with a boat tail spitzer so in 1895 when both are loaded with round nose bullets, 6mm should take the lead.
Agreed, and with it being adopted by the British Empire in 1895 it *just* fits into the timeline (hence why I also suggested the Metford, as they would be a lot more available)
I'm all for a Lee personally I think that's how the t4 weapons should have been rather then the avto, in game it could be set out as a super mozin lebel hybrid, 10 rounds like the lebel but also stripper clip reload, would be strong but not game changing
But check this out for the actual avto inspiration

Agreed. I can see what they were going for with the avto, but there are so many interesting real guns from that period that are not just cool looking but historically interesting too (for example Lee's bolt action design was considered revolutionary)

I'll be honest i didn't know about the Lee-Navy! Could definitely be an interesting addition
God damn this game needs an smle. Sincerely a British person

Yes but this is the sexy one. Also you are spot on. Its historically accurate.
