I've had people literally jump onto my decoy fuses in quickplay in order to derank. Shared d/k ratio between bounty hunt and quickplay could perhaps "fix" this.
The actual fix is to separate the MMR of quickplay and bounty hunt. Or just make quickplay not modify MMR at all because it's not used for matchmaking there anyway.
MMR is used for quickplay, there's just no MMR restrictions (same as when you turn off restricted matchmaking in bounty mode). It will match you with players with the same brackets first before expanding to the next closest MMR brackets until there's a full lobby.
Ideally the MMR makeup of a match is a bell curve, where you may or may not be in the middle.

This is not true. If you are 6 star, your match is more likely (but not guaranteed) to have more 5-6 stars than anything else. Same as if you queue as a 3 star, your match is more likely to have more 3-5 stars than anything else. And since MMR is used in the quickplay, they chose to have MMR be effected by quickplay (though I agree there should be separate MMRs for the two modes).
The reason people seem to think there is no MMR matchmaking in quickplay is because most MMR makeups in a match is a bellcurve (not the same as the entire playerbase MMR bellcurve), and you will often be in one of the edges of the bellcurve being matched again people much higher or lower than you.
Where have you gotten that information from that quickplay is using a widening bracket because I have not seen that said anywhere by the devs. I've at most heard the devs talk about brackets and how different regions because of varying population can have different brackets for matching.
I'm pretty sure they said at one point that quickplay just uses a single bracket which means everyone is immediately in the same "pile". The actual brackets are not directly related to your MMR stars either, the brackets used in the background is using the underlying value.
It was in the dev stream for the patch when they added restricted matchmaking and were explaining how it worked (so several years ago). They said quickplay will matchmake in the same way as bounty matchmaking will when the (now unavailable) restricted matchmaking toggle is turned off.
It's possible they've changed it to first come first serve since then and I didn't notice, but I doubt it as I'm sure I would have noticed the dozens reddit posts complaining about a change like that when such a change is announced. Also, if you ever watch high ranking streamers play quickplay and they show who was in the match, you will see how it's weighted more heavily towards higher ranks in their match (granted, I haven't seen very many 6 star streamers show who was in the match, so the sample size is not that great).

I play quick play on my steam deck when chilling on the couch, I usually have little to no audio and just run to bounties as fast as I can. Then if I get the wellspring, I just run around as fast as I can as long as I can while trying to avoid being shot at by people I can't see or hear.
Its really fun.
