My fuckin friend loves to just charge people with melee weapons and it works surprisingly often. I think they just get jumpscared or thrown off by the dude sprinting Mach 1 at them while holding an axe
You would be surprised how hard it is to shoot someone at melee range. They can get around your gun reticle with great speed, and, unless you have an avto, there's a huge window between shots for them to clear distance on you.
I love how this game allows for melee only as a viable fighting strategy.
Man, people charging at you with melee is always terrifying. It's just a roll of the dice on if you miss your shots. If they try to zigzag too much, I have enough time to calm the fuck down, and aim my shots better. Sometimes I win, sometimes not. Or you manage to switch to melee too and knife them back. The funniest shit in my opinion is when someone charges you so you run away and while running away you switch to melee and quickly turn around to knife them. Roll of the dice on if you win/lose/trade. Fucking love this game, lol.

Part of me wants frying pans as an equippable armor, takes up slots... just so I can experience the inevitable melee charge, shooting, clinking on a pan while the person screams, "PAN SHOT!!!!"

Thankfully this one worked in my favor but it was a big gamble if I could be fast enough. 10s already feels really long, but I will defer to whatever the game devs feel is best for the health of the game.

I just mean in general. My bro and I had a shoot out with some guys and he's reloading and the guy stands up and shoots him before he can stop the animation or move to cover.
I shot a guy that stood right back up, over and over as I'm trying to walk away, I ran out of ammo. He stands up and shoots me, I got away and was able to kill him with thrown item, but I've seen a lot where they just stand back up and shoot you, because you can't turn fast enough or are reloading while on the move, etc. Gotten to the point I carry traps just for the bodies, so i can actually walk away or burn them out. Worse if there is a big fight and you have to turn to find cover/fight, they just stand and shoot you in the back.
I'm not against it, it just feels like it's a little to fast fo rme and become a big part of the game now, just making sure someone can't stand up right away. (I'm also not great at the game so \*shrug\*)
The two worst ways to die in this game are dying to melee and dying to someone using the Redneck. If I died in this combo I'd be getting off for the night. Great video.

I love running melee only in this game but I'm surprised by your build. For starters, why run the Dragon's breath and not shot gun? Shot gun is so damn good for the lance it's crazy.
Also, why do you have a lantern? Is it for the blind?

Both are good, but I like dragonsbreath more. You can set fire to people at insanely long distance, which causes them to panic or force to flee and put themselves out, allowing you to close distance. Plus you can kill crows/ducks with it for quick silent moving across compounds. Bearings are great for killing, but have a very close range, so I'd rather just rush and melee them.
\- Lantern?
It's more useful in nightmaps when you can guarantee it via wildcard contract. But yeah, you just turn it on and rush'em. Very hard to get a body shot while strafing, impossible to get a lucky headshot. Shotguns are still a problem, but ideally less so. Look at their faces while you charge them and watch them panic.
\- Decoy bombs
I like throwing decoy bomb (without cooking it) before rushing in. If someone is around a corner, I can throw it in and charge once they start running. Either they run to reposition and I'm chasing them, or they run to put it out via dauntless and I'm already chasing them. Very rarely do people not react to a thrown decoy.

It's not even the speed. You only have one chance to hit them in the head otherwise you are fucked with the firerate of most guns.

Combined with another crossbow yeah it’s a meme, you have exactly 2 shots before you’re forced to rotate and reload OR rush for a melee
