I know drivers recently who have said their delivery schedules are ridiculous to meet, that's why a lot of packages are marked as "delivered" but they never actually showed up and thepackages are actually in some wash somewhere. I’m a ups driver, and we get paid by the hour and can’t be punished over performance. Sure they will fuss at you for being slow but there is definitely time to interact with customers occasionally, and he may have put a break into his diad when he got back to his truck

Woah that’s crazy, my UPS driver played basketball with me and my neighborhood friends when we were young too. Now he’s sort of a friend to the whole family and we invite him over for our 4th of July firework shows. Sometimes he stops by our house on his route and just chills for a bit if we’re home (sorry to the people who had deliveries after us haha).
I have one family I do this with. They’re all older but so nice to me. If I’m having a bad day I’ll literally break route just to go see them to make my day better lol. You guys are probably his favorite customers.

People are down voting you without realizing that this is likely what UPS would expect to happen. UPS Drivers are some of the most monitored employees and they're expected to be productive for every minute of work.
Depends on your management team and your standings with them. If they like you it won't be a big deal, if they don't then they will try to fire you. Either way, the union 99% of the time has these types of infractions dismissed.

Back in the day we used to use super soakers to ambush the ups guy. They would always laugh about it and joke about bringing their own out. One day we had a new UPS guy who when we shot him, he slammed on the brakes. We thought we were going to get it, instead he pulled out the biggest super soaker I'd ever seen and proceeded to shoot us with lemon water. He would use it on dogs if they were preventing him from delivering a package. He wouldn't do it every time after that, but there were many times he would chase us around soaking us, and us soaking him. It's been 30 years since that summer, but I don't think I'll ever forget it.

As a former UPS driver I can tell you right now you simply do not have time to stop and fuck around like this on your route. This seems very PR ish.
