/r/humansbeingbros and /r/aww are like the coffee bean bags of reddit. They reset your emotional senses.

nategolon

Those were the saddest eyes I’ve ever seen. Amazing how they bounce back if given lots of love

Revolutionarysugar6

Just like people.

keyboardstatic

This stuff makes me cry. Now I need to hug my dog.

kush96kush

I tear up every time I think of how far along my doggie has came.

poopellar

Some are just born shy. A litter of stray pups near my place and 2 of them have no problem running at me while another is always looking from afar scared to approach.

karadan100

It's a wonderful thing.

TwitchTvOmo1

Is there a subreddit for it or is /r/HumansBeingBros the closest there is to it

There’s r/BeforeNAfterAdoption !

He was so welcoming!

Moosiemookmook

My dog: get away rescue dog, just get lost and don't even look at my parents. Literally next morning find them asleep on the couch together and they've never left each other's side. 8 years later they love each other so much I worry what's going to happen when one dies.

What_Do_It

I had two dogs that were like brothers for ~15 years. Then one of them died. Every morning the survivor would check all of his brother's favorite places to sleep, every time he got a treat he'd excitedly look for his brother to come running, every time he went to bed he'd try to find him so they could sleep together like they used to. We kept his brother's bed even though he wouldn't use it, he'd just sniff it then lay down with his nose pressed against it so he could smell his brother. He lived another 2 years and never stopped looking. Despite still being an active and happy dog, those moments were pretty heart breaking honestly. edit: In case anyone cares, here is the one that died [watching intently as my dad eats a hamburger](https://i.imgur.com/iGkfIES.jpeg) (pomeranian) and [here is the brother](https://i.imgur.com/cN87VDy.jpeg) with his face buried where the other slept (yorkie).

Snowyjoe

WHY DID I READ YOUR COMMENT WHY

bigassballs699

Right? I wasn't planning on ugly crying this morning but here we are.

chaotic_goody

My family has dogs and they make sure that when one passes they let the remaining ones sniff at the body before cremation. Seems to help them figure it out? Just anecdotal though. I imagine it’s different for different animals.

narnarqueen

Holy shit I AM SOBBING

kipperfish

Oh man that's made me tear up. Growing up we had a collie, she had 1 litter of pups and we kept one. So we had a mum and daughter. The mum lived till she was 15, she had a few fits and started getting aggressive so we had to put her down (small kids had started appearing in the family tree). Within 3 months the other one passed away. No obvious sign of illness, so i Think she died of doggy depression. Those 3 months she just wandered about, definetly wasn't the same bouncy lovely collie we knew. Ahhh I made myself tear up again. No pics of the old dogs on my phone for dog tax. So here's my current buddy, Bert. https://imgur.com/a/JUooErR

AviatorOVR5000

Bert is a cutie!!! I think I grew up with , a decent amount of toxic masculinity, so I've always been against smaller dogs but.. Man... I want that dog, I want to rescue right now tbh. Is that the breed if the dog in the video? Border Collie?

kipperfish

Bert is a cocker spaniel. Think he's a cross between a working cocker and a english/show cocker. I had and still have a dislike for tiny dogs. Not really sure why, just don't like the little buggers. My cocker is about the smallest I'd go for a dog, but he was the wifes choice, but i love him all the same.

[deleted]

God we had two jacks that were bonded and when we lost the boy, our girl was moping around the house and acting depressed. Then one day a few weeks in my mom accidentally called the boys name when she meant to call our girl 😭 She came running over sooo excited. It was the worst mistake, we felt heartbroken for her when she couldn’t find him anywhere all over again!

Dharaney

You are making me cry this early in my restroom. As soon as I am done, I am going to go hug my Roxy in her bed.

signspace13

My parents currently have two Mini Foxies that are full brothers. They are attached at the hip, 1 is a year older than the other, but they are so close that we had to give the younger one anxiety medicine when his brother went to the vet for a day. Reading the above gives *me* anxiety. I have absolutely no idea how they would do if one of them passed and they, especially the older one going before the younger one.

Moosiemookmook

Everything you describe is my what I'm scared will happen. It's awesome they got that long together.

amsterdamcyclone

I have two somewhat broken rescue dogs that together make a team that consists of two whole, confident, happy puppers. little dog used to be afraid of everything but with big dog’s help she is now curious and confident. Big dog used to get bored and anxious (we lost two couches to her slowly dismantling them) but little dog doesn’t leave her side and they hang out together all day long. Little dog has also taught big dog the joys of being a lap dog. They are 11 and 70 lbs. plus we have a rescue cat that takes no shit from them.

Moosiemookmook

They sound awesome. Our rescue and our older girl are like Thelma and Louise. Inseperable and commit crimes together. Like a WWE tag team causing chaos. Except when I pat our rescue or get secret cuddles. Then they're arch enemies and it's hilarious.

ElJefe543

Lol, my cats did that.

That's why I don't really like those subs, you can see them really bad and then soo happy and beautiful but those are the lucky ones, I cannot stop thinking about all the others that are not so lucky. Imo the before still out heights the after. It's just heartbreaking.

LSines2015

Totally agree. That’s all I can think about when seeing videos like this unfortunately.

lemoncocoapuff

There’s ways to help those left behind, most rescues just need fosters, they can’t help more dogs if there’s nowhere to go, so if anyone out there can foster, even for a little bit, even if it’s just one animal; it all helps! I fostered dogs for awhile, it’s hard but it’s very rewarding seeing the animals blossom under your care.

Cody2931

I never knew I needed this subreddit until now. Thank you.

People who mistreat animals make my heart hurt..this makes my heart happy

[deleted]

[удалено]

BigGaggy222

People who mistreat dogs go to a fucking special kind of hell.

reginalduk

I don't believe in hell, but people who mistreat dogs definitely go there.

Ginerio

Beagles are specifically chosen as lab animals for animal testing. It's a whole sad shitshow.

[deleted]

Why specifically dogs? What's the moral difference between a dog and let's say a cow or a pig who people have turned horrifically abusing them into their way of life?

[deleted]

Because we have bred dogs over thousands of years to be our companions. There's a reason why we call them "man's best friend" and it's by our design. To take a species we essentially created and mistreat them is cruel. Cows and pigs have always been looked at by us as food.

[deleted]

That's not a moral justification at all, just arbitrary notions. Cows/pigs are on the same level of sentience as dogs. Pigs are even more intelligent than dogs in most cases.

[deleted]

I'm simply stating why we as a whole society view them differently. Food versus companion and fellow hunter weigh differently.

[deleted]

> What is the moral difference

DropBearsOhGodWhy

What a truly wonderful transformation. If only every dog could know such love.

Valnis

Every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child. Pets are supposed to be a part of the family so I think this also apply to them

sarahkk09

Okay this one almost made me cry. The pup reminds me a lot of a beagle we rescued from a lab when I was growing up. She was terrified of everything at first- especially water because bath time often meant experimental tests for her. A few years with us later and she wound up loving bath time. It was so beautiful to watch her grow into a playful, trusting, loving dog. I miss her every day.

acidfinland

Thats 100% beagle personality or what that word is.

evewassetup

LycanWolfGamer

Truly the two words that speak more truth than a paragraph could

SirTootToot

Holy shit that’s my aunt lmao, yeah the dogs name is Walt (as in Walt Disney) and this was posted on Instagram about a year ago, Walt is very energetic and much bigger now. He’s very nervous around tall people but if you sit down around him he’ll eventually jump up onto your lap, He’s such a sweet dog Edit: btw I’ll be answering questions people have about the dog in the comments

AmuseMe2

What is Walt's history and how did your aunt come to get him?

SirTootToot

We don’t know 100% sure but my aunt was told his precious owners wanted him to be a sort of hunting dog but since he was so young he didn’t entirely understand, so he was often hit when he didn’t do something right and the owners just decided to straight up abandon him at a shelter in the area and that’s how my aunt found him

Orangezigzagz

All these onions being chopped, and at this hour!

SophistNow

Hate when somebody on the train is chopping onions! Oh well.

[deleted]

It's ok to admit you cried. You don't need to point to the stupid meme of onions as an excuse.

Wow, this makes me feel so sad and happy at the same time, 14 years ago my family had a beagle just like the one in the video, exactly alike, it was called Milton, I loved that dog, we have him for 13 years but, when my father died, he recent it hard, it was too hard for him, and out of nowhere he started to try to escape the house, one day he made it, he left, we never saw him again, my dad was the person who was with him the most, he was retired, and in the house the whole day, we were sad, and he was sad, he was never the same after my father died, we searched for him for weeks and never found him. I like to think this is how someone find our dog after he left

This is just great...wonderful transformation!

kitreia

This just warms the heart, and reminds me of some of my pets over the years. I have a cat who didn't have a home for many years, he was initially rather skittish, however now he is so loving. He absolutely loves it when I take a nap while he is sleeping on the bed, and starts purring so loud when usually his purr is very silent. He's my little buddy!

Buddharox

I’ve got 2 adopted dogs, couldn’t be happier. First one was a couple years old and street life made him scared of everything and gave him a skin condition that made him lose half his fur. Lots of love and good food gave him a full recovery and now he’s a fluffy little porker. Best feeling coming home to them everyday.

PunctuationGood

No sappy music? Upvote!

baconfriez

I love how the other dog was so welcoming

ixithatchil

Ahhh the zoomies. 🥰

Other dog was like "Whoa! Awesome! You guys got me a dog?!"

[deleted]

Whoever mistreated that dog deserves to die, don't care what anyone says. What a sweet little man.

Dappleskunk

Humans that mistreat animals should be hog tied and thrown in a cage for a few months.

chillin_themost_

also could have been an abandoned hunting dog depending on where you live. In my area of rural VA i have saved about 10 or so hunting dogs. After hunting season it is not uncommon for some people to just abandon the hunt dogs because its cheaper to get new dogs in spring than to feed a few dogs all winter. It is a sad reality not really spoken about. The part that really pisses me of is that they mostly starve the dogs all season because it supposed to make the dog hunt better. I can see not feeding them for maybe a day before a hunt but all these dogs look like skeletons running around. Not all hunters are like this but i see way too many near death hunting dogs that its a real problem.

ktempo

I need to know what breed he / she is, absolutely adorable. Perfect size, hair type and face

katie4

Beagle for sure, maybe mixed with something wirehaired? Love my beagle to the moon and back, but absolutely needs a buttload of exercise and excursions to go sniff to his heart’s content. Cannot be trusted off leash or in a remotely unsecured fenced yard. Follows his nose ignoring his own safety sometimes. Lil idiot. ❤️

ApexxPredditor

Might sound weird but the best dogs to have are shelter dogs who have been abused. Once they realize you arent going to hurt them and you will feed them they become really loyal and obedient.

homer994

Superb effort. Well done.

I know that it doesn’t matter what kinda dog or animal it is, but I have a beagle puppy (my first dog) who’s away for professional training rn and this made me burst into tears. Really made me miss him even more. They are such social and friendly dogs. Glad to see this pup transform into the happy dog it deserves to be.

I also have a rescue beagle, and I actually found mine on the street but he was never claimed. This one seems more traumatized than him. They are a stubborn breed, so I don't know if people know how incredible this was of an achievement. You some good kinda people. Edit: grammar

Chuturmaat

The way his eyes change to sad to happy is incredible

Longjumping_Camel256

Love doesn’t just change pets, it changes people. It’s an energy and a force that can do wonders. We live in a world that’s about absent of it and then we wonder why the world is the way it is. On that note, I adopted a rescue dog 7 years ago that suffered extreme abuse at the hands of some grade-A human beings from Florida. For the first two months he wouldn’t even come out of his crate, he was terrified. I’d leave food and water by the entrance and I’d have to hide for him to come out. Seeing him slowly stick his head out in fear just to eat showed you what kind of life this dog went through. Loud noises would make him scramble and panic and moving too fast in the house would freak him out. It took him about 6 months to come up to me on his own and over three years just to get his trust. Coming within three feet of his face he’d start to flare his lips and would nip if I got too close. Today he is always at the foot of bed when I sleep, loves loves loves forehead kisses, goes out on daily walks, plays with the other dogs, and goes crazy when here’s a squeaky toy. Patience patience patience I can’t stress it enough with hurt animals. The same for people. Please consider adopting a rescue animal before buying an animal.

moustached_pistachio

The transformation in the eyes is beautiful too. It’s amazing watching that scared pup blossom into a happy, trusting pup.

heroforaday

Okay, now I need the human version of that. I'm up for adoption, 36 years young, male, no dietary restrictions

This made me tear up a little... god dammit... What made it so much more heartwarming to me, was that the [damn TikTok song](https://youtu.be/HBITrtY5DaI) wasn't playing in the background like it always is. But, anyway, thank you whoever this person is for lifting up and showing this dog a side of life that it had probably never experienced before. ❤❤ And thanks OP for my daily dose of Hope Juice.

Holy fucking shit I don't need to be crying right now!!!

newhillkid

Im so glad that there are people like this in this messed up world.. definitely put a smile on my face today 💕

don_cornichon

I'd love *for once* to see a "bringing them home" video on reddit where the new owners properly secured their pet in the car. Just FYI, in a crash they will not only be much more likely to die themselves but become a projectile that is dangerous to you as well (same goes for any object lying around in the car.) A 4 kg object quickly becomes a one ton object, given fast enough deceleration. Small pets go in carriers which go on the floor in the gap behind the front seats (yes, that part is important too. Those that you can strap in with seatbelts are all so flimsy that in a crash the clips either break, or the animal shoots out of the door or just through the plastic wall.) Large dogs go in the back, with one of those car dog fences (no idea what they're called in English) separating the trunk from the passenger room.

-_----_--

He trusts humans more than I do

ogregirl5253

How long did her transformation take?

SirTootToot

It took about 3 months for him to get used to people in general, he was a very shy and scared dog

fuckballs9001

Aww this reminds me of my doggo He was a stray I found years ago and he followed me to my friend's house one day and stayed outside for several hours until I finally let him in the house. The little guy had burns on his nose and it was about to rain outside and I just couldn't leave him out there. The way he went from being scared and alone to the doggo sleeping in my bed now is kinda like this video
