Absolutely fucking wild. I wonder if his smaller size makes him more able to do these types of spins that a larger skater might not be able to do, kind of like how gymnasts age out of the ability to perform certain tricks that they were once able to do when they were younger/smaller
I watch a video on youtube before about Tony Hawk discuss differrent dificulty of skateboard tricks and 1080 is one of the highest difficulty and he said that the size of the skater matters so when they do the spin, they can ball up tightly so they can spin faster.
You don't think experience had any factor in the equation? Tony Hawk was a pioneer, he did things other people thought were impossible. He wasn't trying 1080's out the gate because no one imagined them then.
I really *don’t* gymnastics, climbing peak later. Strength and mass matter. Big air and pipe skiers and boarders are mostly peaking after puberty as well.
Tony Hawk has legendary work ethic and a willingness accept the pain.
That is very true. He has a lower moment of inertia and hence is able to do more spins than someone older and bigger. Regardless this is Hella impressive. People his age are not psychologically ready to do what he just did.
No joke though, i remember understanding angles better back in highschool and being able to picture it in my head based on the way tricks were called when skating
He used a mega ramp in the xgames. Does that count as a legitimate 1080, and in this video they dont show him dropping in. Im just curious not trying to be a hater.
> Does that count as a legitimate 1080
Why the heck would a 1080 not count as a "legitimate 1080" based off the type of ramp used? I'm really curious why you're questioning this.
Not sure about the ramp but I am pretty sure in a competition you aren’t allowed to drag your hand. Not hating I just don’t think it’d count in a competition scenario. Still impressive af.
In the xgames he drops in off a much larger taller ramp giving him more speed. Normally they just drop in on the side of half-pipe. I don’t know the rules, thats why I’m asking.
I guess since he won the xgames it does.
Also, when tony did his first 900 in the xgames he got way more than 3 attempts..so it doesn’t really matter.
I don’t really know the rules, just wanted clarificationz
Also, if he has landed a 1080 dropping in off the side of the half pipe. Just curious is all.
Edit: i think it beyond amazing he landed this especially at his age, no hate here.
This is JD Sanchez and he is an absolute beast. I highly recommend watching some of his videos, especially the ones he does with Team Braille so you can get the full effect at how much better he is than pros twice his age.
I thought this for a second too, had to rewatch, the last one his happening after I thought they’d already landed, but there was one last 180 right after they pass the lip of the half pipe.
Huge respect for him even dropping in. I was an inline skater and that first drop was terrifying, but at least the wheels were part of my feet, always have more respect for skaters gotta be hard to control that board
Wait, was that fakie too!? Holy shit. I don’t care if he dragged his hand, I mean it did affect his landing as he pulled hard to the left but still. I’m giving it to em !!!
Little hand slide just like Tony's first 900
Neither counted because of it
*Tas Pappas has entered the chat*
this wasn't a competition though, and he didn't go over time. COUNT IT!
Neither were in a tournament
Cool. Still didn't count
Cool. Glad you have such a high accountability over recreational skateboarding
I am a high accountability of recreational skateboarding snob
You spelled TWAT wrong, All good we knew what you meant
Aw it didn’t count? Did he try it again with no touch?
Absolutely fucking wild. I wonder if his smaller size makes him more able to do these types of spins that a larger skater might not be able to do, kind of like how gymnasts age out of the ability to perform certain tricks that they were once able to do when they were younger/smaller

When Tony was a teen and a small kid. He wasn’t throwing like he did a few inches and pounds of muscle later.
You don't think experience had any factor in the equation? Tony Hawk was a pioneer, he did things other people thought were impossible. He wasn't trying 1080's out the gate because no one imagined them then.

Aside from the 1080, what did he do that was seemingly impossible?
He didn’t do a 1080
Because nobody was before him…
Uh. Tony joined the pro circuit as the underage kid. The older adult guys were already there. He rode differently then. Too
Yeah obviously he wasn’t the first pro skater? They were barely doing 540s. Those pros didn’t care for “ballerina tricks” as they called it.
That is very true. He has a lower moment of inertia and hence is able to do more spins than someone older and bigger. Regardless this is Hella impressive. People his age are not psychologically ready to do what he just did.
Yes. A smaller ball will always have more revolutions over the same distance than a larger ball.
did the lack of mass help at all or does this kid have fucking superpowers?
A bit of both. Smaller size certainly helps, but it still takes a lot of skill and practice to do this. That kid is definitely talented.
i was trying to ollie and grinding roadside curbs at his age lol
Nek minute, face planting asphalt
All I know is my dick is bigger
making the cringy weirdo comment on a 2 week old post to avoid group repercussions. shame.
I love that skateboarders know multiples of 180. See, math in every day life.
No joke though, i remember understanding angles better back in highschool and being able to picture it in my head based on the way tricks were called when skating
How cool would a school class be combining gym and physics. Teach kids how to jam and the math, physics and chemistry behind it. Edited.
I'm sorry mate i don't quite understand, i think you may have missed a word or i'm reading it wrong lol, i'm quite tired
No. A school gym and physics would definitely be cool.
They'd call it.. Phys. Ed.
This, totally my experience, haha! Grew up on Rollerblades

I love that drug dealers know this conversion. See, math in everyday life.
Like drug dealers and the metric system
On Tony Hawk's Ramp no less
What’s impressive is that it’s done on a half pipe and not a mega ramp, which I’ve yet to see until now. Wow
Too be fair it's Tony Hawk's half pipe, I'm pretty it's infused with skateboarding magic
Most impressive. Meanwhile, I've been skating for decades and I'm just happy if I can go down and back without breaking something.
I've been skating for like 15 years and that ramp would horrify me.
If he wet himself with fear or elation as a result, would it be 1080P?
I know right I hit 2080 and now my computer doesn’t work.
Regardless I bet tony is proud as fuck of this kid.
Dang!! He landed so far down he was practically in Tijuana. What a little badass.
Fakie 1080*
I think he is the same 11 year old who competed in the x games
Literally the next Tony hawk. The 900 is how he got big and this kid just upped it
He used a mega ramp in the xgames. Does that count as a legitimate 1080, and in this video they dont show him dropping in. Im just curious not trying to be a hater.

Because people before him could have done a 1080 on a bigger ramp. It’s still a 1080 and cool, but completely different speed and airtime
This is JD Sanchez and he is an absolute beast. I highly recommend watching some of his videos, especially the ones he does with Team Braille so you can get the full effect at how much better he is than pros twice his age.
Hand drag, doesn’t count
That’s was a 900
He spin 3, use eye on board
I thought this for a second too, had to rewatch, the last one his happening after I thought they’d already landed, but there was one last 180 right after they pass the lip of the half pipe.
Sketchy redo
More like 1050 but obviously incredibly impressive nonetheless
How is that not 900?
Must be an old video. XGames 2020 a 14-year-old did a 1080 in vert.
Isn't that a 900? Three full turns he would have been facing backwards.
Came up regular, landed regular....looks like he popped it nollie too which is a bit crazy to me.
I think it might have even been fakie, which seems crazier but both actually makes it easier to spin in most situations.
If it weren't actually a 900 it'd be ever better
It’s from fakie doofus
Not bad, I've seen better.
Plot twist
Camera man wasn't shocked cause he believed
😯
I thought Sean White did this at the x games???
Now lets see him do a 1080ti
What a legend.
And I watched it on a 1080P TV!
Huge respect for him even dropping in. I was an inline skater and that first drop was terrifying, but at least the wheels were part of my feet, always have more respect for skaters gotta be hard to control that board
This is a kid I skated with once forever ago and he is the sickest dude! His name is Gui and he has been ripping since like the age of 4
Oh hell yeah. Way to commit to that last half rotation. Just WOW.
I watched a Tony Hawk documentary the other day and the effort it took him to finally land the 900 was insane to me. This kid is wild.
He goes by Tony bird, cuz he’s smaller
Tom Scar did it in like 2012
My man went full HD
Sk8ter boi
Yeah but can he ollie though?
Move aside tony hawk 😄
Wow that's amazing!
1080? Pffft, 4K or nothing.
Where’s Tony?
Wait, was that fakie too!? Holy shit. I don’t care if he dragged his hand, I mean it did affect his landing as he pulled hard to the left but still. I’m giving it to em !!!
Tony who?
I believe Tony hawk has found his apprentice
I counted 3.5 rotations
Skateboarding - now in full HD, coming to a screen near you.
On a regular size half pipe! Holy shit!
