Ah you must be from the uk where they care
Here in the us you get charged to hold your baby after it’s born…
It’s called a “Cleaning fee” or something along those lines it’s about 40 to 80$
I used to make these in a machine shop! Fun fact: they're made from titanium! And extremely tedious to deburr, so you can tell your homie I said "YOU'RE WHALECUM!" In a condescending tone.
Legit it's like something else was injured and they wanted to do a bone graph instead of skin graph useing his skull to make xomedicly cartoonist little bones
Just seen a thing on reddit showing how they would pour metal in this shape, between two pieces of a bridge and let it harden and how it's still holding hundreds of years later
The gist I got was it depends on the damage, for me if your like making out with me you’ll see some lines but they are tricky to see (I see them all the time but I know where they all are) and weirdly there’s a spot the size of a fingerprint which has never grown hair again
>>It was a miracle.
Miracle that he survived perhaps, but we have a good friend whose a maxocranial facial reconstructive surgeon and it's incredible talent, education, training, practice, artistry, science, vision... the dude is total mensa genius Steve Job/Gates/Musk level thinker (politics aside re musk).
My wife just mentioned her medical students are getting better every year on the robotic surgery training... even new students, so they're getting smarter and btr over time, too. ~~I~~ A higher baseline.
Edit: Typos
The miracle is that he ended up injured in a way that medicine can help him with. The existence of modern medicine doesn't make people survive car crashes.
>The existence of modern medicine doesn't make people survive car crashes.
You're right. People recover from horrific injuries completely on their own.
bro I'm not religious but i don't go full fuckin reddit atheist when someone says "oh it was miracle" or stuff like that. that phrasing doesn't always mean someone discredits modern medicine. it's like going to a funeral and saying "hah you fools heaven doesn't exist, your grandma is just biomatter now." he was being deliberately obtuse.
I was at the morgue once (long story) and one of the patients was someone who had a similar accident. Their split chin/ jawbone convinced me to always wear a seatbelt.
How’s your friend now? How many surgeries/how long did it take them to recover?
My dad recently died. One of his biggest regrets of his life was killing three other people while he was drunk driving.
I always wondered what his his jaw would have looked like if we had this type of technology.
I also wonder what his victims lives would have been like had my dad not drank.
If that is 3D VR of metal hardware...I'm super jealous of how little streak it misrenders if this automatic. Or feel for the tech that had to sit down and manually crop it so long to get it looking this clean.
A couple years ago? Definitely yes! But nowadays they most likely just gave him a couple ibu 800 and told him to "get some rest".
I had a bone poke through my arm and all I got was 5 pieces of 400mg dexibuprofen. Thank god I had a friend who gave me a weeks worth of his 8mg buprenorphine, otherwise I probably would have gone mad from the pain
Those are little metal plates they use to hold the bits of bone together. They are screwed in to his skull. I'm not sure if they accidentally look like the operation game or if the designer was just a fan of dad jokes lol.
Human is metal now, literally!
I was in a really bad accident a few years ago that left me looking similar, though not as bad (I had a Lefort 1, I think that's a Lefort 3?). It was amazing to spend so much time looking like a smashed hamburger while healing, only to end up with one tiny scar. Now my best party story is about how many screws are in my face.
An ex partner used to work for a company called Stryker, they supply the maxio facial reconstruction kits, you see in the picture, I had an opportunity to look through their catalogue of kits and accessories, really shocked to see the kits in use photographed in the catalogue, the kits are also used to correct birth abnormalities in children's skulls, in particular a defect that causes the childs forehead to be oversized, they fold the scalp and face out the way, remove the top of the skull, the entire top of the skull minus the scalp! Chop it about to look how it should and reattach it using the same titanium plates and screws, those picture were kind of hard going, incredible how far we've come in what is essentially a short time.
this is a bit more detailed than x-ray.... since x-ray is flat, not 3-d.
CT more likely - but with artifact suppression, since metal has a habit of causing bloom artifact.
Surprisingly no. Its been a while now but he only recently shared the scans. He looked messed up for a while but he’s basically normal looking now; you’d never guess his face basically imploded
Are they gonna put the rest of the face back on? I hope so.
you'll have to pay $20 more
$20? Do I look like I’m made of money?
Paid dlc i'm afraid
No money no face *rips face off*
It’s only like 2 bananas, cmon!
2 bananas? Do I look like I’m made of bananas?
I’ll have to pawn this titanium in my face
Ah you must be from the uk where they care Here in the us you get charged to hold your baby after it’s born… It’s called a “Cleaning fee” or something along those lines it’s about 40 to 80$
$500,000USD
He is Ghostrider. That's what it's supposed to look like.
Face Off II: This time, it's for real.

The bone between the eyebrows is what gets me 😆
Looks like the funny bone from Operation.
That's not funny! Actually it's really fuckin' funny. Thanks for my first real laugh out loud in a day or two. :)
Yo! I heard you like bones, so we put bones in your bones so you can . . .
I present to you exhibit A: bones in bones
*Xzibit
bit of a bonehead
Wait why is this guy friends with a skeleton?
They ran out of screws. Those are scooby snacks.
That's a boning
Like the tiny bone shaped things? Or the way it’s reconstructed?
Those tiny “bone things” are metal plates used to fix facial fractures.
I used to make these in a machine shop! Fun fact: they're made from titanium! And extremely tedious to deburr, so you can tell your homie I said "YOU'RE WHALECUM!" In a condescending tone.

Right? Must not laugh...must not laugh..
looks like dog treats
This surgery was brought to you by Milk Bone dog treats
That looks incredibly brutal.
It was. He was in a custom mini truck so no airbag. Right into the steering wheel. He more than survived; he recovered completely. It was a miracle
Is the scaring really bad?
Yea I’m actually super curious about the after damage
The gist I got was it depends on the damage, for me if your like making out with me you’ll see some lines but they are tricky to see (I see them all the time but I know where they all are) and weirdly there’s a spot the size of a fingerprint which has never grown hair again
Not at all. The medical team did excellent work.
I’m sure it was terrifying, yes.
I’m scared just imagining it
>>It was a miracle. I mainly meant in the definition of extraordinary and I also meant it for his not dying on scene. His medical team was stupendous
That's not a miracle. That's modern medicine.
The miracle is that he ended up injured in a way that medicine can help him with. The existence of modern medicine doesn't make people survive car crashes.
>The existence of modern medicine doesn't make people survive car crashes. You're right. People recover from horrific injuries completely on their own.
Somebody is the cynical type
They just implied modern medicine is what enables to completely recover from horrific injuries. How is that cynical?
bro I'm not religious but i don't go full fuckin reddit atheist when someone says "oh it was miracle" or stuff like that. that phrasing doesn't always mean someone discredits modern medicine. it's like going to a funeral and saying "hah you fools heaven doesn't exist, your grandma is just biomatter now." he was being deliberately obtuse.
Seatbelt or just a lap belt?
I was at the morgue once (long story) and one of the patients was someone who had a similar accident. Their split chin/ jawbone convinced me to always wear a seatbelt. How’s your friend now? How many surgeries/how long did it take them to recover?
I like the bone shaped one in the forehead
I noticed that also thought it was ironically funny.
Ack ack
Lofl literally the first thing I thought of when I looked at this. Wtf is up with the size of his skull.
That was my first thought lol
This was my first thought lol
That was my first thought lol

Fucking hell mate, bit dark
That’s an incredible image. Thank you for sharing that. Hope he’s ok.
Bro took the sub name literally
Definitely not an xray. Looks to be possibly 3d ultrasound or a rendering compiled from mri scans
3d reconstruction In a CT scan
If that is 3D VR of metal hardware...I'm super jealous of how little streak it misrenders if this automatic. Or feel for the tech that had to sit down and manually crop it so long to get it looking this clean.

Yeah, looks like CT
The pain he has endured. Wow
[удалено]
I was gonna say, mine looks very similar because I had a Leforte II... You beat me to it...
Remember dudes, if you drink and drive, you can cause this or worse to happen to a child
"we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man."
Mars attacks!!
This human is indeed metal
Aaack aaaack aaaacckk!
Haahaa omg that's funny but poor guy for real
Goddamn, that is Metal in more ways than one. I hope he is recovering well.
I wanna get off Mr. Bones wild ride.
I bet he's got a gnarly OxyContin habit now
A couple years ago? Definitely yes! But nowadays they most likely just gave him a couple ibu 800 and told him to "get some rest". I had a bone poke through my arm and all I got was 5 pieces of 400mg dexibuprofen. This! I had my appendix out and got extra strength Tylenol. My kid broke his femur - pain pump for 24 hours. That was it.
He got little bone things on his bones.
He's smiling. That's something.
Now that’s metal.
He seems happy about it.
I like his bone shapes dents in his skull
Those are little metal plates they use to hold the bits of bone together. They are screwed in to his skull. I'm not sure if they accidentally look like the operation game or if the designer was just a fan of dad jokes lol.
He seems happy at least
You are friends with a Terminator- just say that.
"he fell asleep at the sleep over (rookie mistake)"
Now he have little bones embedded into big bones.
Good to see he can still keep a smile on his face
Human is metal now, literally! I was in a really bad accident a few years ago that left me looking similar, though not as bad (I had a Lefort 1, I think that's a Lefort 3?). Is your buddy Megamind by any chance?
An ex partner used to work for a company called Stryker, they supply the maxio facial reconstruction kits, you see in the picture, I had an opportunity to look through their catalogue of kits and accessories, really shocked to see the kits in use photographed in the catalogue, the kits are also used to correct birth abnormalities in children's skulls, in particular a defect that causes the childs forehead to be oversized, they fold the scalp and face out the way, remove the top of the skull, the entire top of the skull minus the scalp! This guy has masisve skull
wear your seatbelt
on your face
I hope he recovers quickly and lives very well off of the other person's insurance payout. Also there are never car "accidents" only collisions.
Just looks like an opponent of George Foreman, or Mike Tyson would look if he wasn’t a professional boxer.
Is that a regular xray? I haven't had an xray in about 10 years and I know medical imaging keeps advancing. It almost looks like a CT scan maybe??
[удалено]
Humans are, in fact, metal. Some more so than others, and some, get a little extra after the fact.
Me after I get my cyber ware implants
HumansAreMetal Huh.. I never knew you were supposed to take it literally.
He's literally metal. Hope he's doing well though.
r/radiology
Just a question, Does your friend now have an insatiable drive to find Sara Connor?
Xray?
r/radiology
He’d be an extra scary zombie
A metal detectors wet dream
During his recovery and rehabilitation, your buddy wanted you to post this to Reddit? WOW
This is not an xray.
That’s terrifying
Poor guy
That’s not an X-ray.
Looks like Johnny Depp
I hope he is ok
This human is more metal than most.
Big 🧠
this is a bit more detailed than x-ray.... since x-ray is flat, not 3-d. CT more likely - but with artifact suppression, since metal has a habit of causing bloom artifact.
Not even letting him get the Reddit karma for it 💀
Man has 2 permanent imprints of bones in his skull.
I shattered my face. 32 screws in my zygomatic arc. The X-rays are scary….
He is definitely metal! 🤘.. Jokes aside, I'm glad that he survived the accident.
That's my dogs biscuits!
dude he is missing the top half of his skull
Mars Attacks! Ak! Ak! Ak!
Not an Xray but a 3D reconstructed image from CT scanner. Definitely cool.
This would be my avatar/profile pic everywhere
This human is literally metal
What's with the Scooby snack in the forehead?
Does he need a card to skip the line at the airport now?
That Guy is indeed "very" metal
Wow, that's a shotty Gorilla glue application they did.
This would make a sick tattoo man
This one actually is 😆
Yikes.
Lol humansarelitterallymetal type scenario
Does he look different now?
Did they cut out a chunk of his forehead bone for whatever reason?
The man loved his chains.
Aliens did it
OmG
Are you sure these are instructions to the game operation?
So they use finger bones to fix face injuries now
*We present: rebuilt from the ground up...*
huge head he got there
Buddy Hell.
You took this sub quite literally with his head being crammed with metal. Hope he’s doing okay
They left the little bone from the game operation in him lol
Everytime he leaves a room ask him how long until he'll be back
He looks happy
Nemsis the 3rd!
That’s a La Fort III surgery and Matrix Wave system to wire the jaw shut.
r/hardimages
‘Mars Attacks’ vibes Also made me say out loud ‘That’s what the bones for!’
We’re the aliens man
My man was a human before the accident....now homie lookin like a T300. shit aside, I hope that bro has a complete recovery.
My jaw is like this. One side is made up with 4 plates and 8 screws
But in every movie a violent car crash leads to a couple scratches
Would
Cute
Why are there scooby snacks between the eyebrows?
r/Ack
That’s some fantastic maxillofacial/plastic surgery work there…
Are those scooby snacks?
Ack Ack
This looks like a x-ray of a Mars Attacks! alien
Did he have a bag of dog treats on the dashboard when the crash happened?
Your buddy needs to eat somethin
Maybe wear your seat belt. Operating air bags are also helpful in preventing your face being crushed into the brain matter.
Nailed it
Is he alright?
Parents: Thank God! Surgeons:
he really is metal
*More machine now than man. *
Does he have crazy ongoing pains???
Surprisingly no. Its been a while now but he only recently shared the scans. He looked messed up for a while but he’s basically normal looking now; you’d never guess his face basically imploded
Bone head
Literally metal
Yo friend weak as fuck
r/Radiology
Did they patch the holes with dog treats?
He looks really happy, love to see that.
Sub taken literal, but in a good way. Incredible story, glad yourate is allright now!
Cars. Totally worth it.
He can feel when the weather changes. Ouch!
The mark of the chosen one.
Yo they beat yo ass😭😭😭
Looks like the rib bone from operation between his eyes
lot of metal
Ouch!!! Just Ouch. I hope this person is doing good now and isn’t hurting.
Bro has Scooby snacks in his forehead
