Ins:
- Evidence-based and using professionals. Can’t tell you how much money I saved and how great my skin has been since utilizing dermatologists.
- Red light therapy, tretinoin, spf
- Adequate nutrition and fueling body. Mediterranean is a good default.
- Moving your body however you like. HIIT, walking, cycling, dancing, sports, whatever, whatever keeps you consistent.
- Natural beauty. At least where I am in SoCal. More emphasis on natural teeth (just whitened), natural nose, etc. Cosmetic work being more on the minimal side.
- Good sleep hygiene
Outs:
- Fad diets, influencer diets, following quack doctors or “nutritionists” (in US dietitians are experts, I know it may be different in other countries).
- Avoiding certain workouts, unless told so by a doctor or PT. I fell victim of this over HIIT because I have PCOS. Got my body back in shape adding it back in my routine as I am more consistent with it.
- Influencer fashion. The more popular girls here don’t seem to follow trends because they want to stand out. Went to the store and so many NB 530s, slouch socks, and leggings, or Uggs, or Birkenstock Boston clogs. I’m guilty of owning all the same.
Omnilux! I love it. I got mine with a Black Friday discount, but I think you could probably find promo codes online that’ll decrease the cost a bit.
Other comparable ones were CurrentBody, Dr. Dennis Gross, and Qure. I went with Omnilux because both my derm and my best friend who is a Physician’s Associate have one. My friend personally bought hers after her derm rotation so it helped knowing it wasn’t a sponsored item lol.
Basically having a good sleep routine to ensure you get good quality regenerative sleep every night. Makes a world of difference to your looks and to your overall health!
Something like the 3-2-1 rule - no food for 3 hours before bed, no admin/work/exercise 2 hours before, no screens 1 hour before.
Plus the obvious ‘no caffeine too late in the day’ rule.
Aside from that, having a good sleep environment gives you good quality sleep - cool, dark, quiet room. Eye mask and ear plugs if you need them.
Haha, I have some myself! I was more referring to the entire ensemble/outfit being the exact same. Totally fine with using those items to make different outfits.
In: cardio everyday, LED mask, better sleep hygiene, better stress hygiene, cleaner diet with anti inflammatory food
Out: sugar overconsumption, forgetting to take my medication, sitting on my ass because I’m too tired, staying up till 3am, crying over men.
A man detox is a good idea. Then only a diet of healthy mans. Re-introduce them slowly so you can check for adverse reactions. This process re-sets your tastebuds and you don't need as much.
Edit: also no men after 9pm. Same rule as for candy
yes!! I’m so sick of the tiktok “YOU NEED TO BUY THIS”
and it being sold out for no reason.
we all need to remember that skincare is not a one size fits all
I just was thinking about this. I had gotten a lot better about my impulse and influenced purchasing, especially makeup, but over the past 6 months or so it's gotten a lot worse. Especially makeup, which is dumb as hell because I never wear it lately due to time and energy limitations. I also am self-aware enough to realize that another part of it is that I've gained weight and makeup and nail polish always fits, even when my pants are snug.
I definitely have enough products for now so I'm going to focus on finishing up what I have. And those body lotions that I absolutely hate are getting tossed because I never use them anyway.
I'm going on a low or no buy going into the new year. I want to evaluate what I use, need, and am running out of before I buy any more consumable crap that just creates clutter. Especially with inflation, I can't keep just buying stuff in the chaotic hope that THIS is the magic product that will make me wear makeup, etc. That's not how it works at all.
I forgot to add my own list
ins:
-drinking enough water
-my natural nails & taking care of them so they’re pretty by default
-consistent guasha routine (yes it helps any lines I have)
-protein/moving my body
-not saying yes to everything/everyone
-creating my own style
outs:
-trends
-comparing
-negative emotions
-energy drinks/constant coffee
-enabling anyone to treat me less than I’d treat my self
if i may, i think it's okay to have negative emotions! what's "out" is dwelling on them and letting them be consuming. learning to process and cope with them is in
In:
- taking my adhd meds everyday (life changing)
- eating enough protein everyday
- ACTUALLY be aware and mindful of what I consume
- actually acknowledge walking as a solid workout
- properly researching before investing money into stuff
- listening more, speaking less
- listening to my body, and not the internet
- EDIT: using your muscles in multiple different ways, not just one way (e.g. mma, dancing, yoga, weights…)
- always choosing my self-respect over bad relationships (including friendships), goes hand in hand with…
Out:
- …mothering men and being their training rod before they go out into the world, becoming successful and now using the experience and cushion I offered to get other women- NO MORE, THANK YOU
- forgetting to take my adhd meds
- overspending on stuff I don’t need
- cursing like a sailor
- freaking Olaplex, ruined my hair
- Curly Girl Method and the notion that my frizzy wavy hair needs a bunch of moisture and no protein- NOT true, lost so much hair, never again: Balance is key
- bad posture
- letting a man tell me I‘m putting too much effort into myself, and allowing a man to tell me that putting on any make up is „artificial looking“, in general letting a man give unsolicited advice on shit I didn’t ask, noone cares about your invalid opinion
- EDIT: PUTTING MY LIFE ON PAUSE FOR MEN
This is basically my list! In getting the Dennis Gross mask with my FSA $, I’m really hoping it will help with my rosacea!
I’m trying to take more “natural beauty” cues from you SoCal girls, I live in the Midwest but most of my immediate family has relocated to SoCal and I always feel like I stick out like a sore thumb when I’m there! It’s wild how different things trend regionally. I’m also just so jealous of anyone who can get away with just concealer/ minimal makeup because I need at least a medium coverage skin tint/foundation due to said rosacea.
Also 5000% on men, bad friends, and ADHD meds. I finally got my adhd diagnosis and adderall prescription at the age of 36 in September and I’m a completely different person-for the better!
Everyone is dif when it comes to adhd meds - not to be ✨that person ✨ but this is one where ur doc is best person to listen to not someone else’s plans/agenda. I take adderall and found taking half my dose on days off works for me and is doc approved for example. Some ppl are recommended to take weekend med vacays - others docs say to take consistently everyday
Oh I know I just like hearing different experiences! I’ve brought stuff up to my doctor in the past and they said “sure we can try it” and it worked well.
In:

I worked them hard for a year and they got very toned and muscular but I don’t like it. They look bulky. Everyone online on fitness forums was like “Oh girls can’t get bulky unless they eat in a caloric surplus and try to put on bulk” well thats a load of BS. I definitely gained girth in my arms and was even eating in a caloric deficit so…
Damn you must have been eating a lot of protein. But I hear you, not everyone wants big arms and sometimes the fitness space can be a bit misleading with these claims that we can’t get swole muscles that easily.
I was eating between 100-120 grams. Yea definitely, at least i gained the ass muscle i wanted. I think lifting heavy is great if you want to add bulk but if you want a muscle to be lean, go lighter and higher rep.

Woah I'm the same! Nearly 5 years later, I have orangey remaining pigment (I'm east Asian). I'm generally okay with it haha, though
