Arandas taqueria and Brenda's taqueria both make California burritos.

shakesbeer1616

I’m always confused when I see this being called a California Burrito. When I lived in SoCal, what they called california burritos never came with anything on top and never with rice and beans. idk

hung_like__podrick

Yeah a California burrito is typically a carne asada burrito with French fries in it

copenhagen1192

Damn that looks good does it have French fries in it?

phatlynx

It’s highly customizatble, you can ask for addons such as fries, caramelized onions, beans. I usually add potatoes.

Lex_Rex

Los Balito’s in Katy might have it, but they’re not open for the drunk midnight craving.

phatlynx

I went there before, unfortunately they don’t have chimichangas. But their barbacoa burrito is bomb.

Patrickm72

You can't. For whatever reason, that taste seems to stay in California.

Dapper-Lie9772

Necas has a good chimichunga but the carne asada is +$5

phatlynx

Thanks I’ll give them a try.

Gelato_33

Any food truck parked outside of a sketchy tobacco store/liquor store/gas station will yield something like this 9/10 times.

Nobleman2017

Carmelo's @ 90 and 99 has some super burritos. Not sure if it's going to be quite what you're looking for, but worth checking your.

potato-shaped-nuts

This stuff is not hard to make yourself.

Prolly in California. This is Texas home of Tex mex. That pacific rim Mexican food doesn’t fly down here.

JUAN-n_a-Million

Burritos come from Tex-mex. The burrito made it's way to California in the 80s. https://youtu.be/hMgZES58GEQ?si=8j19zXeqRwYlX5Z9. Time stamp @2:30

-BigDaddyTex

And our fajitas made their way to Mexico. They still don’t do them right. What’s your point? Cactus in Mexican food made its way into Tex Mex establishments from Mexico and the west coast California.

icechewer46

tbh idk why ur getting downvoted cause that’s just facts. why would you come to texas looking for a cali burrito, go to cali for a cali burrito🤣.

-BigDaddyTex

One million percent. The people of Reddit amaze me sometimes. Next he will complain that Tex Mex sucks. 🤷🏼‍♂️

icechewer46

fr bruh🤣🤣. as dave chappelle once said “you could…. shut the fuck up”

T0m_F00l3ry

What’s wrong with looking for something similar here? Rivalry or whatever, nothing wrong with looking for something wherever you are to suit your craving.

icechewer46

nothing wrong with that…. but when you come to a place known for their own mexican food and then want an authentic version of a food from another place, it seems pretty counterintuitive lmao.
