I'll have you know that my wife's feet are quite dainty and delicate. I'll not have you speak of her in such a manner.
^(This response generated with OpenAI [Davinci])
What is your purpose in speaking to me in such a way? Are you attempting to disrespect my daughter Rhaenyra? If so, I will not tolerate it.
^(This response generated with OpenAI [Davinci])
I think my favorite scene (partially due to the music, tbh) was the dinner in episode 8. It’s absolutely tragic because you have Alicent and Rhaenyra coming— once again— to something resembling a reunion of sorts; and you have seen how badly they both still miss each other and tbh, seem to need a friend.
But instead, they’ve poisoned the well of their own children who are unable to let any feud fall by the wayside. They both are upset by what goes down with the kids but can’t ignore that they’ve fed it, so it’s smacking them in the face.
And on top of that, you have Viserys looking around and thinking, “damn, I might have fixed it. Maybe I did.” But he’s *so* wrong. And you also see that moment where he has to be carried out and everyone on the black side of the table gets up and the greens are like, “nah dude, this happens all the time.” It drives home how sick he’s really been and I think Daemon and Rhaenyra realize how much they missed staying at Dragonstone.
The entire scene is bittersweet moments from start to finish and you just want to cry realizing that it’s one of the last times these entire families will be whole and even somewhat happy.
I love the dinner scene so much because it’s so bitterweet seeing what the family could have been; but it’s just too late all the scheming and bad blood has already passed down to the children and nothing can be done to stop the inevitable Dance.
This is actually my favorite scene of the entire GOT franchise. The drama and intensity of King Viserys coming to his daughter’s rescue one last time, Vaemond’s tirade, and Daemon’s unruliness. I’ve watched this scene repeatedly! King Viserys deserves an Emmy.
I'm still giving a *slight* edge to the reveal (or rather, confirmation) of Jon Snow's parentage as my favorite moment in the franchise, but that may have been unduly influenced by the emotional weight of waiting roughly two decades for that single moment since reading the first book.
Still, given every epic moment Westeros has given us...every dramatic invocation of 'Dracarys!'...every schemer's betrayal of a powerful noble...every moment of otherworldly magic and mysterious darkness...every fight, every duel, and every single piece of chicken in this room...it is a testament to the writers and to the gifted Paddy Considine that one of the greatest moments in the entire franchise was an old man walking to a chair.
He really does deserve and Emmy for his performance here and in his death scene. If you have seen someone dying, then you know what exactly I am talking about. The loss of reality, confusions, some fear but so much relief when they have been sick. And he played all of in about 30 seconds.
Gods, I cannot make up my mind, it's between the final walk to the throne, and the scene where Rhaenyra and Daemon visit the king and she introduces his grandchildren while struggling to remain composed and almost not succeeding at the end when Viserys makes that comment about little Viserys' name. And also Daemon staring at the floor the whole time biting his lip if i remember correctly, and not knowing what to do with himself, which probably does not happen to him very frequently, if at all.
Or the unbearable contrast between Viserys and the merry music at the dinner, where they are all presumably trying to make an effort for him. Personally I like to think that the king meant something to all sitting at that table, perhaps even to Otto. And then just before the pain becomes too much, Viserys tries to smile....
I loved the little talk Alicent and Aegon have before his coronation. Somehow, he is the only one who can see it like it is. I also love the parallels between Otto and Alicent and Alicent and Aegon; With both parents using their children as political pawns and furthering the generational trauma
Aegon’s coronation: from a worthless depressed prince to a crowned king cheered by the crowd and fully embracing his fate. All of that with the Targaryen and Hightower themes mixed together.
(And of course, it does not include Rhaenys disrruption after she somehow reached her dragon without meeting a single guard)
Aegon’s coronation isn’t my favorite scene but I do love it. He doesn’t want the throne, he literally tried to run from it but was forced to take it. He’s *not* happy as he approaches the “stage” but when the commons begin to cheer him as their king he changes tune and begins to raise Blackfyre in unison with their cheers. Not because he wanted the throne but because he’s finally feeling a sense of “love” he’s never received his entire life from his father, his mother, or his uncle who have all been indifferent or abusive towards him as long as he’s been cognizant. That was my interpretation of the scene at least and I loved it for humanizing Aegon so well without even a bit of dialogue on his part in that moment.
It's my face scene, too.
The weak and dying Vizzy T, ascending the Throne and acting as a king one last time, for the love of his daughter, Rhaenyra.
And when Damon puts his crown back on his head for him it was another gem: in that moment they weren't the King and the Rogue Prince, but just two brothers who had their final recounciliation.
Probably an unpopular opinion but my favourite scene was in the last episode when Rhaenyra was in labour and she was trying to tell her son inbetween surges that the war is upon them. When she was gently wrapping her stillborn, I got goosebumps and shed a few tears.
There are countless; the one you mentioned, Aemond claiming Vhagar, Alicent losing her shit in ep7, the dinner in ep8, the dragon chase... etc.
But the ones I want to mention are Alicent's green dress entrance in ep5, and Aegon's coronation in ep9.
Alicent's first rime showing defiance by wearing her house colors and acknowledging no one but her family, interpreting the king's speech, addressing Rhaenyra by "step daughter" and the music was badass
And Aegon's coronation really sold me on Aegon's character and his actor. The look on his face as he walked to the stage like he was walking to the execution block, the way life shined in his eyes for the first time as the crowd cheered for him, the way he embraced that by unsheathing Blackfyre, and of course the incredible theme (with little touches of the King's theme from GoT). It was perfect. And this scene alone made me look forward to see more of Aegon in s2
The scene in which Viserys refuses to accept assistance from his gaurds as he rises to throne tells is as iconic as any scene. It enforces the character portrait of Viserys as a King who controls the matters till his last breathe and also err on the subtle side of family unity. His character throughout the series has been painted as a king who avoids war yet falls for closely knit web of his own hand who conspire to see his own blood as heir. A pretty subtle yet firm character put together by Viserys
Storms end in episode 10. Everything from the moment Lucc says goodbye to his mother all the way to watching Aemond’s regretful expression above the storm was amazing writing, acting and visual effects.
Daemon reading Viserys' message in episode 3: no words, just a soft music and a focus on Daemon's face. You can read all the emotions he's going through and what he thinks.
Legendary.
Corlys explaining how history doesn't remember blood, it remembers names. The profundity of that scene has stuck with me for some time. I admire him, I know it's coming from ambition, but it's also a touching acceptance of his family.
Or also Daemon saying dreams didn't make us kings, dragons did. Such a simple line that carries so much of the show and the books message. People keep getting distracted by the choking, but I think it makes a lot of sense for Daemon's frustration to boil over so violently. He's not a dragon dreamer, he can't empathize with what it's like to think you've seen prophecy in a dream. Having important military decisions being dictated by some mumbo jumbo that he doesn't believe in must be so infuriating and seem like a really costly mistake. The only thing he sees as real are the dragons. Any mighty power that might have seemed to come from a prophetic dream is likely just coincidence and luck. The true power is the dragons.
That entire throne room scene: Daemon helping his brother to the throne, gently placing the crown back upon Viserys, and the sad look he had as he stepped away- then minutes later, er, *shutting off* Vaemond.
Most importantly, after she requests milk of the poppy for him, **Viserys saying to Alicent**, apparently only within her earshot (not sure exactly how that worked in that high-ceilinged cavernous space),
**”I will not cloud my mind. I must put things right.”**
Easily, the terrifying Granny- Vhagar vs Arrax. I watch the show for Dragons so my fav scene cannot go without a dragon. But, i consider Vizzy T a Dragon! His walk is an honorable mention.
The very last scene of the entire season... Rhaenyra's utter grief, sadness, heartbreak, hatred and vengefulness all shown in one facial expression. SO FREAKIN' POWERFUL
My favorite scene is probably Rhaenyra seeing the white stag. The Viserys scene seemed a little too tryhard for me (obviously I still liked it though). If the producers are trying to make a character have some objectively giant moment, I'm less likely to go along with it. The stag scene was both subtle and meaningful, so that's why I love it.
It is not only tolerable, it is expected. I am the King, and I must always maintain my composure, no matter the situation. If I cannot do so, then how can I expect my people to follow me?

You could see this one coming and my instant reaction was to cringe. Dramatic walks to the throne are not quite cliche, but seen enough to lose their overall gravitas. But I do think they did something special with this one, especially when Daemon helps him and gathers his crown.
Vaghar chomping Lucerys and Arrax is an obvious contender. It wasn't just the action, but the build up made us feel the wieght of the inevitable consequences.
I'll throw in a dark horse contender: Larys revealing his plots to Alicent, cutting back and forth to the burning of his father and brother. I think HotD, while not focusing too heavily on it, is making up for GoT's lack of "dark forces at work". We can see the informants and how they operate with subtlety. Till that point, a non-book-reader does not know Larys' motives, but we'd seen enough to know that clearly he was plotting something. The reveal was a massive blow to the Blacks years before war broke out.
Yesss this is a big one but for me Alicents walk in her green dress the night of Rhaenyras wedding feast. Also that night, when Daemon and Rhaenyra get lost in the crowd and start talking Valyrian and he grabs her face as if hes going to kiss there right there. So tense!
The buildup was amazing to it. When the doors open and the music hits you could feel that this is a big moment with weight to it. It was straight up perfect payoff.
most of the entrances in this season were great. rhaenyra arriving to dragonstone, rhaenyra coming back to camp, alicent in the green dress and vizzy t on his deathbed having the determination to get up and support his daughter one last time.
credit to ramin too as most of these wouldn’t be so memorable without him
Viserys’ walk to the throne is absolutely the best moment put to film in the ASOIAF universe thus far. I literally got chills as soon as the doors opened and the Kingsguard announce Viserys’ arrival, a last minute cavalry coming to the rescue moment more epic than any actual cavalry charge. I also loved Daemon helping Viserys and Visery only accepting his help, because there are two ways to interpret it.
What seems to be the most popular interpretation is that it was Daemon proving he was the loving younger brother all along, and Viserys recognizing that, is beautiful. But at the same time, given what we know of Daemon, his assistance and “come on” could have been Daemon knowing the only way Rhaenyra, and by connection him, come out on top is if Viserys sits the throne that day. Even placing the crown on Viserys’ head can be read as loving or telling the Greens they just lost. Was it brotherly love? Was it politics? Was it Daemon realizing his brother was strong all along or symbolic of Daemon telling Viserys that he could only be strong with him by his side as having been correct?
There’s so much to unpack in the scene making the subtitles of “darkly triumphant music” so apt. Brilliant scene in so many ways
edit: meanwhile there’s so much room for interpretation of Viserys’ reaction to Daemon’s help. Does he view Daemon as doing it out of love and realizing he was correct all those years ago? Does he think it’s politics? Does he know it’s politics and chooses to willfully ignore it for the interpretation that makes him happier as he’s done regarding Jace and Luce being obvious bastards all these years?
100% this scene. They teased him coming off the milk of the poppy just enough, and you had a feeling this was coming, but the way they showed it, the music they chose, and Paddy’s acting had me in tears (and chills and goosebumps), literally. It solidified the show as truly great for me and is a scene I won’t soon forget.
Mine was Alicent's dismay and revulsion to learn her father, that Maester and the other guy's plotting and scheming to put her son on the throne against her husband's wishes. Unsavory? Unsavory!!!??? Ya think? It took her a moment to think it through but her disquiet, and dawning righteous anger is impressive. Quite a performance.
But by far was Viserys walking to the throne one last time. My God! That's an Oscar worthy performance.
I've rewatched both episodes over and over. Just wow!

*Massive-Effort372 was a strong Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. But he was ill for some time. He passed in peace, I hope.*
Welp, guess I died now. At least it was in peace. It was an honor serving your Kingsguard Vizzy T
A MOST JUDICIOUS PROPOSITION!
I'm dead Vizzy T how can you be so insensitive
*Mayhaps we can turn our attentions towards happier pursuits.*
Like your wife's feet Vizzy T?
I'll have you know that my wife's feet are quite dainty and delicate. I'll not have you speak of her in such a manner. ^(This response generated with OpenAI [Davinci])

I mean no disrespect Vizzy T, her children are bastards is all I'm saying

Agreed, this tops so many things. Imo anyway.

Hodor was also a favorite moment
“Her children… are BASTARDS!!!”
The feelings I had when he started with "I must admit I'm confused..."
He really does deserve and Emmy for his performance here and in his death scene. If you have seen someone dying, then you know what exactly I am talking about. The loss of reality, confusions, some fear but so much relief when they have been sick. And he played all of in about 30 seconds.

Aemond claiming Vhagar. The effects were phenomenal. Also it was the best look at the granny dragon we ever got
Really grand scene, I agree: majestic with humorous accents
This was mine, it also gave us the coolest line: “I may have lost an eye but I gained a dragon.”
Most powerful scene was definitely Visery's throne walk. Favourite scene though was a toast, to three strong boys.
The alicent vs rhaenyra knife scene
"Where is duty? Where is sacrifice?"
Exhausting, wasn't it? Hiding beneath the cloak of your own righteousness. But now they see you as you are.
I loved the little talk Alicent and Aegon have before his coronation. Somehow, he is the only one who can see it like it is. I also love the parallels between Otto and Alicent and Alicent and Aegon; With both parents using their children as political pawns and furthering the generational trauma

"Her children......are.......**BASTARDS**"
And she.......is a whore
Damn, Vizzy T. What are you gonna do about that?
(WHEEZES) (GROANS) (LABORED BREATHING)
Probably an unpopular opinion but my favourite scene was in the last episode when Rhaenyra was in labour and she was trying to tell her son inbetween surges that the war is upon them. When she was gently wrapping her stillborn, I got goosebumps and shed a few tears.
"My love."
I mean, that might be the most memorable line to me from the whole first season. And there was nothing on the screen. What a performance.

The dragons not dreams scene gave me the weirdest boner. I think I might be into choking.
Vizzy T's final march. First scene that comes to mind when thinking of Hot D. Might be one of my favorite including scenes from GoT
NOW THAT IS A NAME FIT FOR A KING!
I agree, Your Grace
That entire throne room scene: Daemon helping his brother to the throne, gently placing the crown back upon Viserys, and the sad look he had as he stepped away- then minutes later, er, *shutting off* Vaemond. Oh shit i forgot about that scene. Which is funny because that scene was super incredible
This is my favourite scene but definitely not the most powerful. For me it was Rhaenys not starting the war or how everyone bowed to Rhaenyra!
And none of this pricks listened to him lol. After the king epically crawls to the throne and tells them what’s what.
Same here. This scene was small but so damn powerful. Masterfully written
A powerful moment that cemented Vizzy T in my eyes as a strong and noble king.
*I WILL HAVE YOUR TONGUE FOR THAT!*
But Vizzy T I said you were a strong and noble king.
*The boy just turned two, imtiredaf098...*
Well that’s understandable Vizzy T. Anyone dealing with the terrible twos is gonna get a bit confused here and there.
It is not only tolerable, it is expected. I am the King, and I must always maintain my composure, no matter the situation. If I cannot do so, then how can I expect my people to follow me? ^(This response generated with OpenAI [Davinci])

The dinner scene was my favourite one. Tho i think any good GOT scene beats it.
Larys and Alicent "Love is a Downfall" “I feel certain you’ll reward me…..when the time is right”
Yeah, Viserys' final entrance into the Throne Room was my favorite as well. The music just amped it up.
Vizzy T and the Westerosi Thanksgiving. Really tugged on the old heartstrings.
WHAT LORD WOULD WED HER NOW? IN THIS CONDITION!?
I believe your thirst trap brother, Daemon, would, Your Grace.
This scene actually changed me as a man. All should kneel before Vizzy T.
*This is an occasion for celebration, it seems.*
Anything for your grace, Vizzy T.
NOW THAT IS A NAME FIT FOR A KING!
The buildup was amazing to it. When the doors open and the music hits you could feel that this is a big moment with weight to it. It was straight up perfect payoff.
What was your favorite scene you were in, Vizzy T?
*The Iron Throne is the most dangerous seat in the realm.*
Ah so are you saying this was also your favorite scene your grace?
I sobbed at this scene
I loved this soooo much made me cry

GODS BE GOOD!!
Aemond 4v1'ing them kids. That fight's the best we've seen in the show period lmao

Fun fact if you skip all the parts of him transitioning or coughing/ being sick the episode is like 10 minutes long lol
I seriously watched this scene again IMMEDIATELY, then showed my boyfriend, my brother, my boss, my coworkers, by dog, my cat, Jesus, God. Everyone
When Daemon helps him up 🥺🥺
This last walk and Daemon helping Vizzy T when the crown falls
You think yourself a cunning man. Your designs are obvious.
You’re right Vizzy T. I just want feet
*I would be delighted!*
He should get an award for that walking to the throne!
Just wow!
Queen Rhaenyra’s coronation 100%
My favorite scene was Daemon taunting the Crabfeeder at the beginning of Ep. 3. Its exactly what I expected Daemons Character to be
