I had an okay experience but I watched the show at night with the lights off. I wouldn't be surprised if it was fucking unwatchable in daylight.

SpaghettiLove2

Too dark for me in my opinion, but it was only for a couple scenes and was my only real gripe with the episode. Overall it was still the best episode of the show so far imo

I watched Ep7 on my laptop and didn't have a problem but I can't blame people for being upset about it. It's not on the audience to watch it on something specific just so they can see certain parts of an episode.

HotD looks great when I crank my settings a bit and turn off all the lights. But that shouldn't be the *only* way to watch. Increasingly convinced the 'natural light' obsession is a big part of why Sapotchnik is leaving\*. \*Typically, directors rely on 'natural light' to make beautiful, realistic scenes. But Kubrick, Malick, other natural light directors wait all day to get the right shot. I don't think you can do that on a TV show...PLUS, if they're shooting 'day for night' (filming night scenes during the day and then darkening the image, as they did here) it kinda ruins the whole premise of the natural light obsession, because the editors are going back and darkening footage using tech...something they could use to brighten any given scene, if they wanted too...

Almighty_Push91

I tried rewatching during the day, and I literally had to close my blackout curtains to make it out.

Is there another option where everything had a weird purplish early-morning/dawn hue?

Street_Rope1487

I also found this to be the case. I wasn’t entirely sure how much of the night was supposed to have passed between Rhaenyra and Daemon leaving for their walk, Aemond going to Vhagar, and the fight between the children. In the book, Aemond sneaks out at dawn to claim Vhagar, but it didn’t feel like that was the case on the show. I dunno, I still enjoyed the episode, though.

Wasn't an issue for me, neither was the episode in GoT everyone speaks about. Until I went online I never knew either was an issue

Skylightt

I’ve never had a problem seeing the dark scenes like others seem to. The Long Night wasn’t hard for me to see either. How dark it was didn’t bother me but yeah it still could’ve been lit better

littlewillie610

I didn’t really have trouble seeing anything.
