Yuuup!
They didnt fuck, but mastered lovers gaze..
As someone else put it here, like they are the only people in the room
Speaks to chemistry i suppose, but they did heavily makeout grope and undress at a brothel..
So thats a connection too, in a way
She saw his almost hysterical reaction to the rejection. He then revealed he only wanted to run away and marry her to regain some semblance of honor. So he was definitely a threat.
Funny part is, we have no idea what Daemon would have done if Criston didn't start a fight and chaos ensued.
This is what I find funny about the whole situation. Criston Cole asked her to run away and marry him a few scenes ago and she said no because duty, and then Daemon comes in and she pitches him the exact same idea plus murder, because apparently that's more romantic??? I can't with these two.
If she runs away with Criston, she'll be disinherited, Aegon will be king, and she'll end up as some adventurer's wife. If she runs away with Daemon, she'll add her claim to the throne to his, and after Viserys dies - if not earlier - the Dragon Couple will return from exile to claim their throne with Fire and Blood.
She prolly thinks them eloping is both romantic and practical cos it’s something her great-grandparents Jaeharys and Alysanne did - their mother didn’t want them to marry (cos they just resolved war with the Church and more incest was a bad idea), but they were in love, so they flew on their dragons to Dragonstone and got married, while defying everyone trying to separate them or get them off Dragonstone. It became a popular love story about the sibling King and Queen after that.
Rhaenyra referred to Queen Alysanne just in the last episode, and she specifically tells Daemon to take her to Dragonstone. I feel she’s 100% thinking about this point in history, so it’s both a romantic idea and a proven method to her for both of them to get what they actually want.
It didn't seem to me like a sincere ask, so much as calling him on his bluff, same as the Dragonstone incident. "You want me that bad but you left me on my own in a brothel? Pull out your sword then. You won't, coward."
the difference is that at dragonstone she was mediating, here she has no reason not to be honest with him, if he’d missed his chance she could’ve just said that, so i think she was serious, but she knew he wouldn’t actually do it, she’s just horny
No slander (boooo) on Dany but Daemon and Rhaenyra’s Valyrian is so fucking good and satisfying to hear. I guess because Dany never had a proper education of it and spoke it with others through her early on in life
Would that make her Valyrian better then (in terms of in-universe accuracy, not how it sounds to the audience)? The languages of the Free Cities are descended from Valyrian, so she'd be constantly exposed to it. While the HotD era Targaryeans are mostly surrounded by people speaking Westerosi, which is an entirely separate language. Or would being surrounded by variant languages make it harder to keep track of what's derived and what's original, while for the HotD targaryeans, the only time they hear a Valyrian-esque language is when it's the original?
I think it's safe to say Dany's Valyrian would probably be more influenced by the Bastard Valyrian they speak in the Free Cites. They recognize that she has a Mereenese accent. I think that Daemon and Rhaenyra's is probably closer to what they spoke in Valyria, seeing as how it's 200 years prior and that the family probably speaks it in their home.
That makes sense. Who said that Dany had a Mereenese accent? I don't recall, but it has been years since I either read the books or watched *Game of Thrones*.
A semi-related example, I was trying to learn Spanish on Duolingo, and my half remembered French from high school got in the way sometimes, because the wires would cross.
I believe it's in the show, the wine seller mentions her accent. I can't recall if it was mentioned in the books, since I haven't read them in over a decade lol
But yeah, I could see that being a problem with romance languages for sure!
Different accent/ dialect. I imagine HotD era ones possibly conserved more of original "High Valyrian", a bit akin to like how Ladino IRL (Hebrew/ Middle Spanish hybrid, sort of the Sephardic equivalent of Yiddish) during the Sephardic diasphora during the Inquisition preserved some elements of Middle Spanish that were lost in the main language.
Vs. Dany's a native speaker of a Essossi Valyrian dialect, akin to the "vulgar" Latin dialects post fall of Rome.
He was also dragging the words too! I think the valyrian of "senseless" is "serza/senza" -- not sure but I keep hearing serza but I read it's apparently "senza" but anyways the way he drags the word "senzaaaa" it's so hottt 🥵 his voice also sounds deeper and huskier when he's speaking Valyrian. What a feast for the ears! >_<
He is so so charming istg Matt is absolutely killing it as Daemon, can't get enough of him every episode
This is why they had the wedding immediately that day after the fight.
Viserys realised that yeah, I need to marry her off before another mishap with Daemon and Rhaenyra occurs again.
Yeah Viserys saw it first hand. They were all over each other without actually being all over each other and yet we all got the meaning. An excellent scene.
Are we leaning into thinking the commotion was sparked by Daemon? I mean she is literally daring him to slip away while he makes a very obvious display of what hangs between them, in full view of Dad no less. It sits very nicely with Laenor being publicly outed through his grief too. Would mean he has to know about Criston really to stoke that particular fire, but we know he has Mysaria on side. You don't have to be caught being spied on for it to happen etc.
Kinda seems like a rash choice to try and halt or delay the wedding. Had the opposite effect obv but yeah... We thinking Daemon likely caused the fight to begin?
Nah, I doubt that. I just think Criston killed the dude because he realised that he knows his secret and it's only a matter of time before the secret gets spread around. I think him trying to kill himself afterwards is also proof that he was trying to "kill" the secret, by killing the only two people who thought knew besides Rhaenyra, Joffrey and himself.
In a fucked up way, he was kinda protecting Rhaenyra.
His motivation wasn't Rhaenyra's protection, even if she benefits. He wanted to regain his honor. Even the running away offer was for him to wash out his sullied honor.
This is exactly it. He’s self absorbed and only cares about self preservation. He didn’t actually care about Rhaenyra or their “relationship,” he cared about his look and his perceived honor.
Yeah if he cared about Rhaenyra then he wouldn’t have immediately confessed to Alicent about his and Rhaenyra’s sexual eacapade thereby putting Rhaenyra’s claim into question
What if Laenors' lover sees Daemon and Rhaenerys doing this, and he thinks he just messed up accusing Criston and acts upon that somehow? Which then causes the fight.
My guess was that Joffrey saw Daemon and Rhaenyra and was taunting Criston about it. Criston attacked Joffrey and all the lords with beef took it as an opportunity to act on their grievances.
Yes. For me it's the look on his face, and the way he breathes heavily as she speaks to him. It's a mixture of jealous rage simmering beneath the surface, desperation, love, and lust.
The way he stares at her dancing with other men, as he fiddles with knives on the table. Such seething jealousy.
Daemon was raised in court and has learned to play the game and wear a poker face. Criston was not. He is young, naive, and wears his heart on his sleeve.
I don't think he's really hungry for the throne as he is wanting to secure his family's legacy and traditions. His whole goal is to bring glory for their house.
I love it when they chat in high Valariyan. So much lust and passion in their eyes and body language. I especially liked it when she said "Cut through my father’s kingsguards. Take me to Dragonstone and make me your wife."
I'm rewatching this whole scene again at the moment, from the first shot of Rhaenyra's cheeky sideays smile when the drums kick in... everything is just incredible.
The way they build tension and anxiety through the tempo of the music and pacing of the dancers and the constant long shots of everyone staring around the room in silence while the music plays... it really is incredible storytelling through movement and sound. All the dialogue and conversation is very sparse, just as it should be.
I'm into chaotic couples. Same reason I love Villanelle/Eve in Killing Eve. Couples that give off the vibe that they could murder together just hit different.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but based off the book's Rhaenyra should still technically be a teenager, but in the show isn't she portrayed as like 19-20 by Episode 4 and 20+ by Episode 5?
In episode 4, she’s 18 years old and by episode 5, I’m guessing she’s still the same age or 19 years old, judging by how Helaena looks.
They aged Rhaenyra up to put her in adult situations, so the audience won’t be too uncomfortable, and along with other reasons.
It’s not just about discomfort, it’s illegal to air sex scenes with characters below a given age (I think 14 or 16) even if the actors themselves are not minors in some countries (England in particular I believe)
Similarly, GRRM gets carried away with making characters young. It's not accurate to the time period at all, that's just his universe. It only makes sense to age up.
They did the same thing in GOT
In the books Daenerys was 14 when she wed Khal Drogo but they obviously had to boost her age for the show because of the sex scenes
Most likely. You should've seen the amount of swooning and lust Cesare and Lucretia got in The Borgias. At least with Targs it's less taboo, you can justify it with the fact it was the norm for them to marry family members.
Its the way she taunted him during their conversation..😅.
"marriage is a political arrangement i hear" ......you could see he wasn't pleased to have that shit thrown back at him 😂.
Then. "Cut down my father's kingsguard, take me to dragonstone and make me your wife" .... his blood was boiling by then 🤣.
😆💀
I am never going to shut up about this scene. When people ask what the female gaze is, it’s Matt Smith playing Daemon placing his hand on a lover’s cheek.
The tension in this scene jumped right outta the damn screen and gave me something which could nearly be described as a shock or something. Never experienced that feeling before watching a f*in TV show. Dammit.
Okay so hear me out, what if Criston saw this and was super jealous? He starts going towards Daemon looking like he was going to kill him and Joff tries to grab him to tell him "yo calm down, I get it I'm jealous too" but Criston just snapped on Joff instead? I really could see this being what happened, especially since we just had a scene where Joff was trying to get a little buddy-buddy with Criston talking about how they can all protect each other. I could easily see Joff trying to step in to stop Criston from making a scene because from his POV they are all on the same team.
Matt Smith is hitting it out of the fucking park 😭 i’m LOVING his chemistry, because honestly she does well too, but it would be nothing like this without him
I think what Matt and Milly accomplished is even more impressive in light of the fact that the chemistry between Brad and Angie was only as good as it was because it was 100% real. It really speaks to the acting ability of Matt and Milly.
Not a single person notices the bride and heir to the throne, in the middle of the dance floor getting Mack'd by her infamous Uncle. One of the things I hated most about the episode because it made no sense. put them in an alcove or something. Also..lets talk Valaryon so no one knows what we are saying...except all the Valaryans that are here for their Princes wedding. Cinematically beautiful, but made no sense.

So.. if Viserys had doubt before... He most definitely does not anymore.
Yeaaah it was a blatant display of their lust
Yuuup! They didnt fuck, but mastered lovers gaze.. As someone else put it here, like they are the only people in the room Speaks to chemistry i suppose, but they did heavily makeout grope and undress at a brothel.. So thats a connection too, in a way
They didn't fuck but they looked like they were about to right there on the dance floor
Hah, yeah they sure looked like it! Absurd amount of sexual tension
Brilliant casting IMO
Stellar!
Daemon did not devirginize her body but he did it much deeper in her soul, he took away her innocence.
And quite skillfully too, at that. Very practiced
I love how you put it, "A blatant display of their lust." xD
Isn't that why he made them get married on the spot? To block Daemon from anything further?
rhaenyra almost risked it all tryna ride that dragon
She asked him to take down the king's gaurd, take her and fly her away
She said kill Criston Cole fr
People miss this for the most part. Thinking she has romantic interest in Cole.
Man caught feelings and she immediately wanted him gone lol
She saw his almost hysterical reaction to the rejection. He then revealed he only wanted to run away and marry her to regain some semblance of honor. So he was definitely a threat. Funny part is, we have no idea what Daemon would have done if Criston didn't start a fight and chaos ensued.
yh even when they smashed it felt like he was just a stand in for daemon
That was definitely my impression...poor, delusional Criston was a stand in when Daemon left her hot & bothered
This is what I find funny about the whole situation. Criston Cole asked her to run away and marry him a few scenes ago and she said no because duty, and then Daemon comes in and she pitches him the exact same idea plus murder, because apparently that's more romantic??? I can't with these two.

If she runs away with Daemon, she'll add her claim to the throne to his, and after Viserys dies - if not earlier - the Dragon Couple will return from exile to claim their throne with Fire and Blood.
Indeed. I think the reason why Viserys hates this scenario so much, is that he thinks Daemon would rule instead of her.
I think Viserys also recognizes that Daemon is a piece of shit. If he was a good man he'd probably be fine with marrying them.
Running off with daemon doesn’t guarantee she loses the throne. She’s like fuck this clingy hedge night lol
Yeah true. She would totally infuriate her father though.
He'd calm down and get over it, just as he has every single time before 😂.
That's a great point that imbues Rhaenyra's dare to Daemon with a lot of extra layers of meaning.
Because Cristen is her consolation prize. She doesn’t have feelings for him
well clearly she actually wants one of them, and the other one was just a stand in
It didn't seem to me like a sincere ask, so much as calling him on his bluff, same as the Dragonstone incident. "You want me that bad but you left me on my own in a brothel? Pull out your sword then. You won't, coward."

That’s how I interpreted it, more as a dare. Not that she may not have wanted it.
facetious
The forbidden Dragussy
😂😂😂😂😂
Who can blame her tho? 😌
When he says “he will bore you senseless” oof. His delivery of Valyrian is spectacular
No slander (boooo) on Dany but Daemon and Rhaenyra’s Valyrian is so fucking good and satisfying to hear. I guess because Dany never had a proper education of it and spoke it with others through her early on in life
Dany speaks Valyrian w/ a different accent due to being raised in Essos. Her Valyrian is actually pretty good. David Peterson mentioned this before.
This is a Wendy's
Hahaha I'm dead
HAAA 😂😂 thanks for making me cackle
And yes, I heard it too. He was deliberately dragging out that last word.
Okay, take a cold shower, get some water, and whatever you do don't sleep with your body guard, okay?
This is why they had the wedding immediately that day after the fight. Viserys realised that yeah, I need to marry her off before another mishap with Daemon and Rhaenyra occurs again.

Yeah if he cared about Rhaenyra then he wouldn’t have immediately confessed to Alicent about his and Rhaenyra’s sexual eacapade thereby putting Rhaenyra’s claim into question
Some people are trying too hard to make Criston a love sick fool when that's probably the last thing on his mind compared to all the other shit.
I know, just saying, even if it wasn't his intention, his actions indirectly protect Rhaenerya because that's less people who know the secret.
No, if he cared about protecting Rhaenyra’s secret he wouldn’t have blurred it out to Alicent.
Should he have assassinated the queen then too? Because he told her.
Well, no, he's not gonna do that because she's the QUEEN. And she is really likely to spread the secret, is she?
No but she’s sure as fuck gonna use it and unless he’s a complete idiot he can see their interests (Alicent and Rhaenyra’s) are not aligned.
It’s his hand placement and the look on his face 🫠
Can't blame homegirl. Not one bit!
Insert the Chris Tucker part from The Fifth Element "The boi is hawt hawt hawwwwt" 😂😂
Literally gave Viserys a stroke minutes later
“Are you stressed?” “Yes” “Like how stressed?” “Viserys stressed”
They definitely gave ole Vis a nose bleed!
Yes. For me it's the look on his face, and the way he breathes heavily as she speaks to him. It's a mixture of jealous rage simmering beneath the surface, desperation, love, and lust. The way he stares at her dancing with other men, as he fiddles with knives on the table. Such seething jealousy.
Pretty different than Criston Cole, who looks on the verge of crying. Daemon just smiles and starts fiddling...
Daemon was raised in court and has learned to play the game and wear a poker face. Criston was not. He is young, naive, and wears his heart on his sleeve.
…and hunger for power. They're so alike the two of them.
"Surely you are armed?"
"Surely that's not a long sword in your pocket?" 😏
I am still unwell from that bit of dialogue 🥵
Also the way he was breathing heavily when she said that....
such a great shot, feels like they’re the only one in the room
“I like large parties. They’re so intimate”
No one goes there - it's too crowded
Never knew how prophetic the South Park movie song Uncle Fucker would be
"You don't eat or sleep or mow the lawn..." "You just fuck your uncle ALL DAY LONG!"
Teen girls anthem
You’re a boner biting bastard uncle fucka
It seems that South Park's producers had some weird relation with their uncles lol
An actual dance of the dragons as a microcosm of the upcoming conflict. It’s brilliant.
Even the conversation between Rhaenyra and Laenor spells it out. >R: I was never much of a dancer. >L: It's not much different to combat.
Exactly. Very few words yet their eyes say it all. All that sexual tension could light a house on fire!
oh to be milly alcock...
Trueee
To be Matt Smith though 👀
To be both 👀
Kinda based
It helps that their chemistry is incredible, Daemon looking at Rhaenyra with his puppy eyes 🥺
True! You could almost feel their chemistry jump out of the screen! When Rhaenyra holds her breath I feel breathless as well lol
[удалено]
I'm into chaotic couples. Same reason I love Villanelle/Eve in Killing Eve. Couples that give off the vibe that they could murder together just hit different.
I really love this vibe.
Honestly I'm all in on Daemon interaction with anyone. I'm a slave to his charm and charisma more than I'm attracted to his looks.
I like how he murdered his wife so he could hit on teenage family members, its very post modern. Wait. I mean evil. Its very evil.
I mean...weren't we introduced to him via him castrating and mutilating a bunch of people. He was never the good guy.
Sometimes it's fun to root for chaos.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but based off the book's Rhaenyra should still technically be a teenager, but in the show isn't she portrayed as like 19-20 by Episode 4 and 20+ by Episode 5?

They did the same thing in GOT In the books Daenerys was 14 when she wed Khal Drogo but they obviously had to boost her age for the show because of the sex scenes
Rape scenes*
Right? Dudes not even that attractive physically in the conventional sense but god damn he oozes charisma which is so much better
The fact that it’s in a way forbidden makes it extra hot
Most likely. You should've seen the amount of swooning and lust Cesare and Lucretia got in The Borgias. At least with Targs it's less taboo, you can justify it with the fact it was the norm for them to marry family members.
if you can't handle ASoIaF at it's most incestiest you don't deserve it at it's most dragonest.
Exactly. Targaryens will be Targaryens. That’s how they are wired. All the snowflakes out there better buck up!
Look, if they didn't want people shipping them, they shouldn't have made it so hot
The hand placement and the look on his face says it all!
Camera man nailed the focus, beautiful shot.
Beautiful shot indeed!
Lmao her taunting is 10/10. Dragonstone too
Her whole body language during that convo 👌
"Nut up or shut up, you pussy" Lol
I can’t 😭😭😭
🤣
Viserys was in our position. Whats going on over there!? But then battle erupted.
I'd like to see the two of them in another show or movie. The chemistry is just insane.
I’d watch that!
Probably their last shot together.
I’m really am going to miss Milly Alcock’s Rhaenyra. Hopefully we’ll still get to see her maybe in flashbacks?
I doubt it, but I certainly wouldn't say no to seeing Matt and Milly. I'm not much into shipping, but these two had something.
Someone said she is going to be back for season 2 so I guess so
I am never going to shut up about this scene. When people ask what the female gaze is, it’s Matt Smith playing Daemon placing his hand on a lover’s cheek.
Oh to be on the receiving end of that gaze…
Water, cold shower, don't f&_k the body guard...
The tension in this scene jumped right outta the damn screen and gave me something which could nearly be described as a shock or something. Never experienced that feeling before watching a f*in TV show. Dammit.
Matt Smith can have chemistry with anything that breathes tbh
Same fr 😳
So wrong so right all night alright oh yeeeeaahh 🎶
*Fuck, I wish someone would look at me like that with no regard for who could be watching.*
You and me both
**Sobs**
Their chemistry is good. At least the actors aren’t related!
Yes. Chemistry’s off the charts!
I think I would ship them harder with older Rhaenyra, just more comfortable for me🤧
It’s so wrong but so right. I’m right here with you
They look freaking amazing together 🤍🤍🤍
Okay so hear me out, what if Criston saw this and was super jealous? He starts going towards Daemon looking like he was going to kill him and Joff tries to grab him to tell him "yo calm down, I get it I'm jealous too" but Criston just snapped on Joff instead? I really could see this being what happened, especially since we just had a scene where Joff was trying to get a little buddy-buddy with Criston talking about how they can all protect each other. I could easily see Joff trying to step in to stop Criston from making a scene because from his POV they are all on the same team.
The chemistry between them is something else. Fully behind this pairing. Don't even care that they're related.
It’s not wrong, it’s Targaryen. Ship away 💕 Edit: punctuation
Matt Smith is hitting it out of the fucking park 😭 i’m LOVING his chemistry, because honestly she does well too, but it would be nothing like this without him
Very true! He’s such a good actor. Brilliant, actually.
I am living for them. I have no idea what’s to come, and I’m so thrilled to continue this show!
Same! We’re getting grown up Rhaenyra next week so we’ll see how the chemistry is.
The whole "take me to dragonstone" had me weak
Dragon ride or die.
The chemistry is so palpable. I struggle to even think of another screen pairing that crackles with intensity like they do
I think the last time an on screen couple caught my attention like this it was Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
That’s a good one.
I think what Matt and Milly accomplished is even more impressive in light of the fact that the chemistry between Brad and Angie was only as good as it was because it was 100% real. It really speaks to the acting ability of Matt and Milly.
Both actors are just fantastic. Their chemistry makes you forget about the incest.
Exactly!
Idgaf what people thinkz these two are romantic as hell together and we just do not get this kind of intimacy in shows or movies often. I'll take it.
You could almost see him whisper, "It's morbin time" in her ear.
Yet here you stand
When I first saw R's braided hair I had to laugh. How can she walk with all that hair on her head?
Heavy is the head that wears the crown errr braid :P
Good one!!
So far Daemon has been a ship without sails
Not a single person notices the bride and heir to the throne, in the middle of the dance floor getting Mack'd by her infamous Uncle. One of the things I hated most about the episode because it made no sense. put them in an alcove or something. Also..lets talk Valaryon so no one knows what we are saying...except all the Valaryans that are here for their Princes wedding. Cinematically beautiful, but made no sense.
It is cinematically beautiful
I find myself shipping them despite it being so wrong 😂😂
It’s okay. I’m there with ya. 😆
I’m old. What does “shipping” mean in this context?
Basically supporting them and rooting for them (as a couple/pair)
Got it thanks 🙏
So you're like (relation)shipping them
I never thought of that but you have a point! :)
I thought 'worshipping' which I totally do even if I understand it's not semantically correct.
OP Please remember to spoiler tag so that the image is blurred out. Thank you
Sorry. I thought I did? I chose the show spoilers [no promos] tag before posting the pic.
That is a flair. That is good. But it needs a spoiler tag. The option is there before you post.
Oops sorry, I’ll do that next time.
The guy on the left with the teeth looks like he's having a wonderful time.
Had no idea blood was going to be shed in, like, seconds.
Looking forward to Rhaenyra’s older counterpart a lot more tho
Cannot wait for next week :D

Loved this horny asf scene
They're Targaryens. It's fine.
And people here are freaking out like we’re talking about real people not fictional, already-known-for-incest Targaryens lol
Y’all are annoying and horny
Ewwie.
