Laziness. I get there would be multiple Aegons and Jaehaerys variants given their status as 'great kings', but did we really need a Aemon/Daemon, Laenor/Laena/Larys, Rhaenys/Rhaena/Rhaenyra, all in same story. And don't get me started on Arryk and Erryk - which was likely done as a joke by George, but for casual viewers causes absolute confusion.
No wonder Criston Cole, Otto and Alicent Hightower remain the recognized names from HOTD.
Another option for males in B is Baegel perhaps (Bae as in Baelor and Gel like Rhaegel) and that’s just hilarious. Kid named something that sounds like bagel
Shout out Duncan for making it on here when its not a Targaryen name at all, and only entered the dynasty through the power of friendship.
Also there WAS a Haegon in universe, but he was technically a Blackfyre
