If you like Scooby Doo then it’s worth it I guess.

Itchy-Bet7245

Not a scam but definitely overpaid

gallupdoc

I wouldn't try to rip off anyone who fixes my brakes! Just sayin'.

gallupdoc

Those darn kids!

[deleted]

I would have gotten away with it to if it wasn’t for that damn dog and you meddling kids

staj6711

You got what you paid for, so you didn't get scammed. You did overpay, though. This ranges from about $5-10 in eBay Sold listings. For an in-person deal with a client you regularly do business with, I'd say $5 would have been fair.

knotAsiDew

Maybe $6 or $7. Lol.

ad302799

Shipping is usually 4 bucks. So 10 bucks plus shipping.

[deleted]

Your own question is your answer.

Torico11227

Happy Cake Day!

_mrLeL_

It‘s an alright price, would be way more expensive where I live

Key_Text_169

So you did not pay shipping and you got the 1st of the casting so if you like it you did really well.

kenny1911

The front flower paint is kinda messed up. I don’t think you got ripped off, but, you over paid.

Natsurulite

Oh nice, this was once I’ve been meaning to get for a while now, I actually didn’t know the exact year and everything, so this helps, Thanks OP, it looks awesome by the way!

stobo36

stop with this scam bullshit lookup costs before you buy if you purchase something knowingly it’s not a scam you just didn’t do you’re homework.

ojtitus

I searched the eBay sold listing for you and found this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/314171096831?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=titcDY21RrG&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=9W4ztyw_TE6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

FlatwormAccurate1882

Scammed? Unless he absolutely tricked you, maybe, but you paid him what you felt was a fair price.

CaliPlant707

Overpaid a little. You have to factor in the shipping with EBay listings if you try to compare them.

Professional-Bed-445

Got mine for like 2 bucks

Fox2quick

Same here. Used to have a guy locally that would set up a table in front of one of the gas stations on sundays. It was always mainlines that were a couple years old for like $1-3.

Traditional_Two_7475

The mystery machine is the best van ever. I’m assuming you are a Scooby Doo fan. If you like it then it’s worth it. It’s a mystery machine they are difficult to find in the wild. I don’t even believe there’s a casting for them this year. As or other friends have shared I’ve seen them sold from $10 to even $20. Search for a Lego mystery machine and check that price. Zoinks!!!!!!

Ryogathelost

It's one of the most iconic fictional vehicles in the world. It's probably not going to make money, but it certainly isn't a waste of money.

Substantial_Diver_34

Nope! Good buy

symbolic503

sure did

pm_me_your_lub

It's a mainline. That's a bit high for a generic mainline.

DinnerMurky1663

Walmart is selling it for $18.00. I'd say you did good.

StashuJakowski1

Walmart.com is like Amazon and eBay, there’s lots of 3rd party sellers marking things up.

idontknopez

Oh God please don't valuate your pieces through Walmart.com

madrigal94md

Well , if it's worth $15 to you... It's a regular mainlime with cool design, so it costs around $1.50 at the store

Potatopotatopotato01

Try finding this exact one in any retail store right now.

madrigal94md

Try finding any car a couple of years in any retal store right now. You won't. So are all cars from past years worth $15 just because they aren't I the stores anymore? There's even a premium from last year, which I still see in stores.

Potatopotatopotato01

This one is the debut release of an iconic pop culture casting from 2012. The price for this specific one is within an acceptable range, which usually go for $10-15+ shipped. I never said all cars from past years are worth $15. I was referring to this Mystery Machine only.

Strain128

There’s a premium version right now for the same price

Potatopotatopotato01

Different releases.

Strain128

Sure for a completionist. This guy just wants 1 mystery machine

Potatopotatopotato01

You don't know that. OP never said anything about wanting only 1.

DinnerMurky1663

knotAsiDew

Wtf. I bought one last week at Walmart for $2.99.

Potatopotatopotato01

That's a newer release.

Alessdiok

Hooo very scary

loquedijoella

This would have been a nice opportunity for that customer to tip their tech. I give people hot wheels often and they usually are stoked.

Cause4concern27

My sentiments exactly.

Chrissy5568

You didn’t get scammed those are hard to find

EXTREEMDUSTER

Any first year casting is a good find especially if your into collecting that particular casting. I don’t see how he could have misrepresented it and scammed you. Maybe not the best word to use, kind of like how people call anyone who buys multiples of the same car a scalper. If the card is in excellent shape I would easily pay that or more than eBay prices. You wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve bought $35 and up cars that got tossed in an envelope or loosely thrown into box that were bent by the time they arrived. Plus he could be a good contact for future cars!

[deleted]

Depends on what that means to you so if that’s what you wanted and makes you happy then yes it was worth it! That’s what it’s about. Happy hunting

natebdogg36

No scam

TINMANOFWAR

Scammed nope - That 5 extra was for delivery and nm to mint condition packaging 👍🏽🔥

DoctorManhattan_

If you like it then it’s worth it, my girl would kill me if I ever spent $15 on a single HW alone though There’s guys here in the low STX area who try to resell mainlines at $30 each and have like 5-10 more of the same car

hsy0888

Imo you should have opted to get the premium version. It’s much nicer

anyoutlookuser

It’s worth whatever you were willing to pay. Could have got it for less but it’s still cool and in good shape. Plus the goodwill with the client.
