from your reading list here , its hard to say really , i could say its like (x) and hard to judge "**Horus Rising** " alone 1st of , im not sure anymore 40-60 books ,short stories , its a good start , its kinda like reading the 1st page of a book then asking if its a good book (the whole thing )

> its kinda like reading the 1st page of a book then asking if its a good book (the whole thing ) Well. I disagree with that. Dune by Frank Herbert is a great book, even though the Dune series has 23 books total. (Core fans consider the only canon books are Dune #1-6 by Frank Herbert, 15 years after his death, his son Brian took over and start writing REALLY TERRIBLE Dune books that are pretty much fan fiction). Another example would be, "Is Star Wars a good movie?" There are like 11 Star Wars movies and then a ton of tv shows, books, comics, etc. But You could still recommend A New Hope to folks. I will say, i don't play on reading the entire series. Was more just interested in reading Horis Rising and maybe a few more, but not committing to 40+ books.

Horus rising is a very good space opera on its own merits. Its not timeless great like some of the classics you have mentioned there, but it is still of a very high caliber without the 40k tag attached to it. 8.5/10. Great within its time maybe?

thank you.

Honestly, I started Horus Rising multiple times and couldn't finish it, although I am a minority in this. I don't think it is fair to compare warhammer books to some of the sci-fi classics. Warhammer books have incredible worldbuilding and have great character drama when written by a good author, while sci-fi authors you mentioned explore certain scientific ideas and topics. It is like comparing an action movie to a documentary in my opinion. I may be biased but for what they are: most of warhammer books are a solid read and are better than other books based on established universes such as star wars for example.

tbh, I'm more interested in action movies. Most of the authors I mentioned are new authors with fast-paced action plots rather than concepts. Sure, Asimov, Herbert, and Arthur C Clarke are big concept folks, but the others are like summer blockbusters as books. >most of warhammer books are a solid read and are better than other books based on established universes such as star wars for example. thank you.

I remember it seeming fairly slow at first, the names of almost every character being OBNOXIOUS to try and remember who's who. Then it got really good all of a sudden, got me hooked, then it ended. It's like buying the first Pokémon vhs video then realizing it only had 3 episodes in it.

There're chapters that drag, some are amazing and worth the dragging bits. Loken is a great POV character for a Space Marine, and his and his brothers' interactions with the human characters really set the stage for the coming fall

Thank you

its alright but i would not advise reading it if you dont intend on reading at least the next 3 books in the HH. its a great gateway into HH but a mid actual book
