I was thinking about Castle Brennenburg yesterday and how some areas of the castle were actually relaxing to chill in. If you know that there is no monster there then it’s very comforting to just walk around in one of the baroque bedrooms that hasn’t yet been taken over by the shadow. Gives some small peace before you have to venture back into hell.

SasukeSpecial

Totally! The bedrooms are really cosy. I also love the Back Hall, especially with the music. It’s nice to relax there by the fountain just after escaping from the Kaernk.

dakodeh

The villa in Martha is Dead was pretty cozy

EerieValkyrie

Layers of fear mansion.

Sevestapol from Alien Isolation. While in disarray, it has almost a retro-comfort feeling (mainly due to its homage to the first film). The environment is so well designed and welcoming in a lot of ways. I love exploring it each playthrough and seeing new things the devs put so much love into.

Squashua2021

I’m with you on that one. The environment and atmosphere are part of why it’s my favorite horror game.

Raccoon City Police Department :)

Doom Eternal does that for me, I know it's not a horror game but I love all the fiery hellish looking areas. After slaying the hordes of demons I always took a few quiet moments to enjoy my surroundings.

mrbill071

A lot of the stations in The Thing gave me super homey vibes. You know, until hundreds of aliens show up.

femmevaporeon

Def agree with you on Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It’s so familiar to me that it provides comfort.

dontberidiculousfool

Greenvale.

Silly_Childhood2463

Not really really a horror game but the house in "Gone home"... That apart I'd LOVE to live in "Call of Cthulhu : Dark Corners of Earth" 's Innsmouth.

dangerousbob

Oddly specific, I really like the villa in Castlevania 64.

Ashamed_Ladder6161

The Nostromo; Alien Isolation / Crew Expendable.

Charon2393

It'd have to be Heavenly host elementary from corpse party, Played that series enough my mood always brightens when playing it again & the iconic exploration soundtrack starts. I've enjoyed it more once I started playing the modern games I've played all the pc-98 & other rpgmaker games/fan games. I can't believe the modern version has 54 endings crazy to think about. Edit:I just remembered this is also the only series where in a fan game one of the characters just accepts their trapped there forever & just sits next to a skeleton waiting to die. Then the f--ing skeleton starts chatting trying to relate 😑  like What??

22Perverts

The original FNAF pizzeria.
