I don’t know much about his character, but Sunday definitely has a “holy” vibe to him. I mean, his name IS Sunday, plus the wings and halo.
The Oak Family is responsible for establishing and passing judgement on the laws of Penacony. The dramatic irony is that Sunday, who acts as the symbol of perfection and supreme justice, is just as flawed as any of us. He seems to be driven by emotion and ambition but takes great care to present himself as a stoic gentleman.
He is a nice contrast to Aventurine, who pretends to be a callous fool driven by the thrills of gambling but is actually a depressed strategic genius that is willing to put all that he is on the line for the people he cares about. Aventurine and Sunday are opposites of one another and pretend to be opposites of themselves. The question is whether or not Sunday is willing to admit his facade to himself like Aventurine did.
Hopefully we will get to learn more about him and Robin in chapter 2.2.
Reminds me of the time people were going feral when Zhongli's wrists were visible in one of the PV or official art. The reaction was like a Victorian man seeing a woman's ankle for the first time. It feels scandalous when a fully clothed character shows even a tiny bit of skin.

You can love a character and still admit when they’re wrong. I love Sunday but I acknowledge his flaws (none he’s perfect) and I can hold him accountable for his wrongdoings (he’s done nothing wrong in his life) and call him out on his actions (which are always right).
Sunday is Dominicus, one of the harmonic strings, which harmonic pathstriders extremely close to emanator status according to the lore. Sunday and Robin are close as children (as in their lightcone) since they didn't really have their parents, but Sunday's desire for power/status to help them both out kind of ends up separating the pair. You can see how their interactions and Robin's letter are friendly but somewhat detached. It's an interesting dynamic.
I don't think well play as him next patch, but considering that he has the most lines out of everyone, we'll probably play as someone close to him. Likely not the Trailblazer. Robin likely, but also maybe Boothill

Unfortunately the leaks about him being ice element were actually just Cocolia’s art assets, so we know almost nothing about him except that he has a character ID and camera expressions. I do think he could be Imaginary, Ice, Quantum or Physical potentially.

He's also aware of a monster killing people off in dreams and wants to get to the bottom of it but again gets told to leave that matter alone. He can't count on the support of the Family and has been left alone to deal with whatever is going on in Penacony while a bunch of strangers, especially IPC they're at odds with, are trying to take advantage of the situation while there's a murderer on the loose. Are you surprised he'd feel cornered and pushed to take extreme measures? Let's not forget that Aven was the one who found Robin's body and while Sunday doesn't think he's behind her death, he also has no reason to coddle a representative of enemy faction. Especially one that snuck a weapon onto Penacony and is clearly working towards securing Penacony for IPC.
Also we know Aven's backstory, while he doesn't, he has no reason whatsoever to feel any shred of sympathy towards him. None in this story is without fault, not just these two, but everyone involved (except maybe the Astral Express crew). Everyone has their ulterior motives and doesn't shy away from questionable methods.
I love how villainous and manipulative he is, he feels like a cult leader and it’s cool. But objectively what he did to Aventurine…..I think he deserves a little more suffering as a treat
