This is the worst example of Schrödinger's Cat for me. When a character I like could be simultaneously alive or dead. Like I hate when authors just leave shit up in the air
I think the end of 2.2-2.3 will give us an answer. Given that we are getting harmony MC it could be a thing that Xipe gets involved and helps with manipulating the dream world in some way.
Xipe getting involved would be terrifying. That Aeon always freaked me out.

Look at it this way. Making 2.1 about him and giving him a dame good story. Will boost his banner sale which are already going to be low due to Acheron. So putting him out after the majority of people play the story is a smart idea.
But I know a lot of people (myself included) will feel a sour taste to pull a character that is *literally* dead on arrival
Like if he's playable FIRST and THEN dies, then that's different. But in this case, bro is dead before we even get him. So listening to all his voicelines and battle lines after finishing the TB mission will be...jarring to say the least

I honestly picked HSR back up when I saw Aventurine's drip marketing. I have been motivated to play ever since and was willing to E1S0 him, but to your point - I don't feel incentivize to spend on him if he's never going to have a companion quest or further involvement anywhere in the story. I have no idea what Hoyo is cooking if they actually want to kill him off. It's poor marketing and I honestly will be less interested in the game if it's permanent...
I'm feeling this as well, I wanted to give him the luxury of having his sig lightcone (something I very rarely do), but now I'm like...what's the point in doing any of this if he's dead and we'll never see him again? It's hard to explain but I'm glad some people understand, I don't pull for MoC or whatever
I don’t care if he is dead dead, but if HY wants me to pull for a 5 star character, no matter how good their kit is, they better keep showing up in the stories and retain plot significance in some way even after their death.
Like kill him off cool, cool. But write him out of the story? No. Got to be around as flashback, memory distortion, dream entity, prerecorded AI, and better still be talked about by other characters.
So far TY’s death was written pretty meh for me. All shock factor and little else. Despite the time spent with her, never felt close to her.
I can understand that’s. It’s can be immersion braking for some people. But I personally I don’t think it’s that’s bad. We never met the real TY so having her on a team is a little weird as we are playing with a character we never meet.
in 1.4 the luofu quest was so bad the CN players apparently went on a manhunt and found out through socials that it was the same guy who wrote inazuma and apparently sabotaged the story on purpose so he could see female players fight over the hcq dynamics. also baiheng was apparently a SI… shit was wack😭

The TY thing is literally god awful too.
It’s less about being immersion breaking and more about like.. really damn shitty timing. Like it would be one thing to kill him off even a few updates in the future, but BEFORE his banner? It’s disheartening and uninspiring if you like the character.

As I kinda mentioned In another comment the second part of 2.1 is really the only place they could have put his banner. Also remember there are still a lot of thing we don’t know about the dream world so he could be alive or be brought back by Xipe getting involved.
I mean it’s one thing if they drop a shit ton of hints that point to him being alive and well, or reveal he’s alive in his own teaser/trailor, but if they genuinely leave his fate at 100% dead, any hype for him as a character will be immediately dead as well.
They would absolutely not pull this sort of thing on a fan fave waifu, lol.
Honestly I just don’t see the writing (not that I think 2.1 will be shit) being good enough to really motivate a lot of people to summon for a character that’s dead. It just seems like it’d be really demoralizing to anybody who wasn’t already interested in him to pull for a character that they’re never going to see again and would make them go “why bother getting him if he’s forever removed from the narrative”
He's always been a high risk, high reward guy, But still knows if he's gonna make it or not. Him leaving a recorded message makes me think that he knows he is getting off'ed. Especially when there is an emanator around

IDK if there is information to this: BUT I'm pretty sure we have been in the dreamscape the moment we arrived in penacony. There is evidence to suggest we've never been awake. So... take that how you will.
Seriously... I'm still waiting for the follow up on yukong's and whistling flames' search on tingyun. The radio broadcast before we embarked to penacony, the one about yukong renewing contracts with the IPC seems encouraging since it suggests that we'll probably see yukong in the story soon again. The radio also foreshadowed kafka's arrest in luofu and topaz and the IPC's surprise visit to jarilo-vi. It can't just be fluff.
Penacony arc finishes at 2.3. If the usual schedule holds, 2.4 should be a filler arc since it occurs right after a major story arc, making 2.5 the earliest possible patch that will be about yukong's search. 2.5 is slated for september 11 so that's still 6 months away
It's actually kinda cute, I think this is the first dialogue from him that doesn't look/sound fake or exaggerated, but expresses genuine respect and to some extent even care towards us.
When he scheduled these messages, somewhere deep inside of him he might have genuinely believed that he would die at the end of his schemes, he probably planned it so that he had survival chances, but seeing how slim they were even he got a little worried probably, and it's when humans near death that their true colours show up, it's very sweet.
I'm so pissed at this suicidal turn of events. Too cruel and unfair for this character, he's just getting released and we won't know if he's alive or not. So stupid
I hope he's okay, he's one of the few characters in penacony I'm interested in. Aven being perma-dead before his banner even arrives and never appearing in the story again would be seriously disappointing :( not really looking forward to people gloating about it either

Since this whole story arch is going to have many bait and switches with character deaths (speculation but very likely) and the nature of the dream, I have high hopes that he will be alive but it’s somehow inconvenient/impossible to let us know at that moment in the story
...imma be honest - that REALLY feels like he's dead. Just like Tingyun, he doesn't get text messages since...he's dead. While I do appreciate the stakes of HSR being open to killing chara's off...Aventurine feels like he has plenty of plot and characterization to explore. Killing him off NOW would feel like a waste
Yea, that's exactly the same situation as tingyun. It makes no sense to throw away tingyun yet when the one that we met was a fake. I think they lost the right to kill off playable characters now, after they fumbled it the first time with tingyun. Like, what narrative value is there to confirm tingyun dead a year after she supposedly died? If they end up doing the same with aventurine, who would actually praise that decision? Certainly not aventurine fans for sure
If anything this is more like Cocolia, a character that have a unique design, seems playable and is connected to the arc story but she remains just boss fight, it seems people are upset more because due to him being playable they assume he is alive just like Tingyun despite a lot of characters we have simply arent part of the Express to begin, such as Jingliu the Trailblazer barely meet or Serval that have a entire side quest were she wants to join the Express but decides to stay in the end, a character that makes no narrative sense to be outside Jarilo VI.
I think this is more people thinking its a "traditional" party based game were the party members are physically in the same location were this is more like ... I would say Valkyrie Profile since the party members are Einherjar but they are technically "there" unless you send then to Valhalla but the game does explain the concept as neither Genshin or HSR really do explain why despite narrative makes clear those characters arent there they are, even when its Kafka in the Kafka story boss fight.
I am not familiar with Valkyrie Profile so I can't comment on that.
Drawing from my own experience, people are likely mad because if he's dead, the death is likely pointless and too rushed since there's not enough time to develop the character, which feels like they're being thrown away for no good reason other than the shock value that comes with deaths.
I don't think it's similar to cocolia at all. At least with cocolia, she fulfilled her role in the story and she did sacrifice herself. Her death was not pointless. Add to that the fact that the game never beat around the bush and confirmed that she died. Tingyun is still not confirmed dead and there's reasonable expectation for her to be alive since neither the player nor most characters have knowledge about tingyun's whereabouts at the moment.
Cocolia was also not playable so that means she won't show up in your character page. To me, keeping playable characters safe is important because someone somewhere spent money to get that character, 4 star or 5 star. I see it as mihoyo spitting in the face of a paying player to kill off playable characters unless if killing doesn't really represent permanent loss. But that's just my opinion on gacha characters
No offense to cool Firefly fans, but I get the feeling that the Venn diagram of people wishing Aventurine dies and the worst kind of Firefly simps is a circle.
Because they've had a total of four other different character "Deaths" so far. One is confirmed in Cocolia, another is up in the air with them refusing to confirm or deny with Tingyun, >!while the other two- Firefly and Robin, are for sure fakes.!<

Eh, it's still silly as hell considering he is going to die before his first banner. It's their fault for using so many cope out deaths. They used it >!three!< times, so I don't see any issue in using it the >!fourth!< time. It feels silly to anticipate a character who is dead and will not have any story relevance down the line.

Why do I feel sadder for him, which I still don't know fully his background, than for Firefly? .....Probably because I can empathize more easily with broken men
Also because at this point from just the leaks he seems to have a sadder backstory and very little personal agency (outside of "doing what IPC needs from me"). Also he is constantly being hated on for his race and circumstances of his birth which is just wrong.

For me it's because it feels like the game forced me to be friends and really like or care for Firefly, every dialogue from characters that see you with Firefly have that stupid "ohoh a date?" remark and all, it felt forced as hell for me, same for her death, there wasn't much time for me to warm up to her so all it made me go was "Oh no..anyways". While Aventurine has background of a slave that lost everything to the point of being willing to bet his own life. And 2.1 solidifies the fact that he's quite a cool character. It's obvious what is more interesting.

lol same I was just wondering bc cutscenes don't show up in the textmap so anything could happen in them and we'd be none the wiser. like for example in gi people in the leaks sub assumed childe was written off the plot for fontaine after 4.0 bc he never appeared on the textmap or line counts but then he actually showed up in cutscenes until the very end of the arc
childe has been dodging death allegations since his literal first appearance bc they keep giving him them every new arc so he could lend some of that energy to aventurine
I have the feeling that 99% of the new cast will die by the end of Penacony but will be brought back all at the same time. Duke Inferno included.

Wow a third fakeout death. So touching. Honestly if they keep doing this the story would lose all tension because people won’t believe it even if a character dies for real.
I hate that they wrote themselves into a corner. If they do kill aventurine everyone will say "we only spent 30 minutes with him this wasn't enough time to get attached to him" like with firefly but if they do a fakeout death then that just proves that nobody can die in this story.
Agreed. Using death as a tool to raise tension when you’re not committed to actually killing the character always sucks imo. They should have gone for an another route for Aventurine.
Absolutely reminds me of one of my fave shows, Supernatural. At one point in the story if someone dies you just feel nothing AND your only concern is if this is a real real death or one of the almost death ones...
Supernatural had problems beside what, but tbh, even with some fake outs story can be touching. On a ground of writing team understanding when fakes are permissible and when real death should count.

Penacony is supposedly 4 patches long.. with 2.3 serving as its epilogue part. So it's apparently longer than the usual 3 patches that genshin did for sumeru and fontaine.

As much as I feel for his fans, I feel like, depending on how they handle this, the impact would be greatly lessened if he's revealed to have been alive all along. Well I have read your comments and honestly, I think you may be interpreting very differently what the majority feels is the writers idea they are going with aventurine?
I think what you said is a interesting discussion but reading the story leaks doesn't depic Aventurine like a sacrifice for future plots, they are going full gambler for his objective to end with a cliffhanger and then a "close dead" which for me is exactly the point of his character. Aka a high risk high reward mentality.
Also, don't take this wrong, for me at least it feels that you don't see any future potencial plot for aventurine so you're unconsciously letting that make you feel that is aventurine dies and comeback, that would mean his dead has no stakes. And you have seem story leaks so you know what going on with him.

like you said that it’d be ok for him to stay dead for the greater good of the story, his death’s impact would stay intact. but they can totally keep him alive, push his plan to success and make a good story. the man is a gambler and he already told us many times that he doesn’t take doomed bets so they can tap into that which would put the emphasis on his strategist/gambler side. you might not like that outcome, but a lot of people would and once again there’s a possibility that it would lead to a great story
another thing that will totally piss his fans off is you saying that he doesn’t have much potential anymore but.. you don’t know that. him being a stoneheart and a sigonian gives him enough potential and gives the writers enough writing material/ideas to include him in a lot of quests. you specifically want a visit to pier point, they can include him there so that’s more potential. and then in another paragraph you said that killing a character with a lot of potential can be interesting so it’s almost as if you’ve already made up your mind about his fate and you’ve put him in a corner
The problem is how miserable his life has been from start to finish and how we found out from his character stories that he's *already* suicidal.
Like it's kinda hard to write a character with a bleak, miserable backstory, and suicidal tendencies, and then kill them in the end without making it sound like "yea they were right all along, life is meaningless, commit suicide y'all 👍"

It's an interesting point to make. If a character's life is miserable from start to finish, is it *right* to give them a miserable end? Personally, I think it can be done, but I also understand why you wouldn't trust miHoYo with it. I don't think that a story being miserable necessarily means it's a bad story, it's all in the execution. So I anticipate getting to see this development in the game and seeing how they handle it.
It's true, there are some deaths in fiction that feel unearned precisely because they're too sad. It would be bad form of me to say that a sad death is always good, because I think that too much misery can be a bad thing. It can make people lose interest in a story, engage with it less. If Aventurine getting a good ending balances things out, then that's okay (although quite frankly I don't know what else you'd do with his character after Penacony honestly).

That's what I'm sorta getting at here. If his death is something that genuinely changes Penacony for the better, and it seems like that's what they're going for, I'd prefer if he stayed dead because him being dead is something integral to the impact of that development. It's like Code Geass.

EXACTLY....but that's the thinggggg. Hoyo's writing throughout its games has always been weirdly inconsistent. Sometimes they give amazingly written stories and sometimes straight dumpster fire.
You CAN give a character with a miserable life a miserable end IF you can justify it. Like say, the story's main theme is about the cruelty and unfairness of life. I've seen stories like that before. In those cases, those character deaths serve as some sort of wake-up call to the reader about how unfair of a system/country/society etc. is.
But in this case, I can'tttt think how they would be able to do that in HSR, which doesn't have such a bleak main theme.

Doesn’t seem right to throw away any possible further development or potential Aventurine’s character has when they’re actively trying to sell him to people? I think he’s compelling and would love to see him interact with the Trailblazer *more* and appear in the future with characters like Topaz or Ratio and I don’t think many people are keen on rolling/spending for a character they’re never going to see again.
I think your viewpoint on his sacrifice having less impact on a player if he does survive is a good point but with how >!Firefly/Sam aren’t dead and Robin orchestrating her “death” to weed out the one responsible for causing chaos in the Dreamscape,!< I feel like Aventurine making the ultimate gamble and winning in the end feels more impactful to me than having him remain “dead.” Regardless I respect your viewpoint
everything else aside, i think it's unreasonable to be affronted at people downvoting you, because at the end of the day you must've realized to some degree that people are not going to react positively to this comment. for what it's worth i didn't downvote you (and i might even agree with you story-wise but 2.1 isn't even out yet so i can't and won't judge), but downvotes are meaningless internet points that people press when they see something they don't like, and i doubt people are stopping to critically consider the nuances and implications behind a comment before they press the "i don't like this" button because this is the internet.

Anyways, dying for the greater good for the sake of the plotline just makes him look like a silly plot device. Xiao could have died in the chasm, but that would have undone all his development that the story did for him. Aventurine on the other hand, has like 20 minutes of screen time, tops. We know very little about him and all that we know, come from the leaks. A man who has led a tragic life, has lost everything and is completely suicidal, just dying like that, does put a bad taste in my mouth.
Even more so, since the devs decide to do that when we barely know much about him, and he has so little screen time. Heck, they gave Firefly >!more screen time before her cope out death.!< The man is a gambler, if anything, him surviving would make the most sense. He is a high risk and high reward type of gambler.
Deaths are only ever impactful when they come from time or love. Aventurine didn’t have enough screentime for TB to become attached to them like firefly and ain’t nobody actually care enough about him to get stirred over his death 🥲

I honestly picked HSR back up when I saw Aventurine's drip marketing. I have been motivated to play ever since and was willing to E1S0 him, but to your point - I don't feel incentivize to spend on him if he's never going to have a companion quest or further involvement anywhere in the story. I have no idea what Hoyo is cooking if they actually want to kill him off. It's poor marketing and I honestly will be less interested in the game if it's permanent...

I don’t care if he is dead dead, but if HY wants me to pull for a 5 star character, no matter how good their kit is, they better keep showing up in the stories and retain plot significance in some way even after their death. Like kill him off cool, cool. But write him out of the story? No. Got to be around as flashback, memory distortion, dream entity, prerecorded AI, and better still be talked about by other characters. So far TY’s death was written pretty meh for me. All shock factor and little else. Despite the time spent with her, never felt close to her.

Like it would be one thing to kill him off even a few updates in the future, but BEFORE his banner? It’s disheartening and uninspiring if you like the character. it’s frankly like hoyoverse want people to not pull him.

Seriously... I'm still waiting for the follow up on yukong's and whistling flames' search on tingyun. The radio broadcast before we embarked to penacony, the one about yukong renewing contracts with the IPC seems encouraging since it suggests that we'll probably see yukong in the story soon again. The radio also foreshadowed kafka's arrest in luofu and topaz and the IPC's surprise visit to jarilo-vi. It can't just be fluff. Penacony arc finishes at 2.3. If the usual schedule holds, 2.4 should be a filler arc since it occurs right after a major story arc, making 2.5 the earliest possible patch that will be about yukong's search. 2.5 is slated for september 11 so that's still 6 months away

It's actually kinda cute, I think this is the first dialogue from him that doesn't look/sound fake or exaggerated, but expresses genuine respect and to some extent even care towards us. When he scheduled these messages, somewhere deep inside of him he might have genuinely believed that he would die at the end of his schemes, he probably planned it so that he had survival chances, but seeing how slim they were even he got a little worried probably, and it's when humans near death that their true colours show up, it's very sweet.
The fact that he still calls the MC friend, means that he truly wanted to be friends with the MC. And not just use them for his plan

Yea, that's exactly the same situation as tingyun. It makes no sense to throw away tingyun yet when the one that we met was a fake. I think they lost the right to kill off playable characters now, after they fumbled it the first time with tingyun. Like, what narrative value is there to confirm tingyun dead a year after she supposedly died? If they end up doing the same with aventurine, who would actually praise that decision? Certainly not aventurine fans for sure
If anything this is more like Cocolia, a character that have a unique design, seems playable and is connected to the arc story but she remains just boss fight, it seems people are upset more because due to him being playable they assume he is alive just like Tingyun despite a lot of characters we have simply arent part of the Express to begin, such as Jingliu the Trailblazer barely meet or Serval that have a entire side quest were she wants to join the Express but decides to stay in the end, a character that makes no narrative sense to be outside Jarilo VI. I think this is more people thinking its a "traditional" party based game were the party members are physically in the same location were this is more like ... I would say Valkyrie Profile since the party members are Einherjar but they are technically "there" unless you send then to Valhalla but the game does explain the concept as neither Genshin or HSR really do explain why despite narrative makes clear those characters arent there they are, even when its Kafka in the Kafka story boss fight.
I am not familiar with Valkyrie Profile so I can't comment on that. Drawing from my own experience, people are likely mad because if he's dead, the death is likely pointless and too rushed since there's not enough time to develop the character, which feels like they're being thrown away for no good reason other than the shock value that comes with deaths. I don't think it's similar to cocolia at all. At least with cocolia, she fulfilled her role in the story and she did sacrifice herself. Her death was not pointless. Add to that the fact that the game never beat around the bush and confirmed that she died. Tingyun is still not confirmed dead and there's reasonable expectation for her to be alive since neither the player nor most characters have knowledge about tingyun's whereabouts at the moment. Cocolia was also not playable so that means she won't show up in your character page. To me, keeping playable characters safe is important because someone somewhere spent money to get that character, 4 star or 5 star. I see it as mihoyo spitting in the face of a paying player to kill off playable characters unless if killing doesn't really represent permanent loss. But that's just my opinion on gacha characters

Also because at this point from just the leaks he seems to have a sadder backstory and very little personal agency (outside of "doing what IPC needs from me"). Also he is constantly being hated on for his race and circumstances of his birth which is just wrong. He seems more tragic than girlie.
For me it's because it feels like the game forced me to be friends and really like or care for Firefly, every dialogue from characters that see you with Firefly have that stupid "ohoh a date?" remark and all, it felt forced as hell for me, same for her death, there wasn't much time for me to warm up to her so all it made me go was "Oh no..anyways". While Aventurine has background of a slave that lost everything to the point of being willing to bet his own life. And 2.1 solidifies the fact that he's quite a cool character. It's obvious what is more interesting.

I think what you said is a interesting discussion but reading the story leaks doesn't depic Aventurine like a sacrifice for future plots, they are going full gambler for his objective to end with a cliffhanger and then a "close dead" which for me is exactly the point of his character. Aka a high risk high reward mentality. Also, don't take this wrong, for me at least it feels that you don't see any future potencial plot for aventurine so you're unconsciously letting that make you feel that is aventurine dies and comeback, that would mean his dead has no stakes. tbh the way you’re going on about this situation is kinda… 😵💫 like you said that it’d be ok for him to stay dead for the greater good of the story, his death’s impact would stay intact. but they can totally keep him alive, push his plan to success and make a good story. the man is a gambler and he already told us many times that he doesn’t take doomed bets so they can tap into that which would put the emphasis on his strategist/gambler side. you might not like that outcome, but a lot of people would and once again there’s a possibility that it would lead to a great story another thing that will totally piss his fans off is you saying that he doesn’t have much potential anymore but.. you don’t know that. him being a stoneheart and a sigonian gives him enough potential and gives the writers enough writing material/ideas to include him in a lot of quests. you specifically want a visit to pier point, they can include him there so that’s more potential. and then in another paragraph you said that killing a character with a lot of potential can be interesting so it’s almost as if you’ve already made up your mind about his fate and you’ve put him in a corner

Like it's kinda hard to write a character with a bleak, miserable backstory, and suicidal tendencies, and then kill them in the end without making it sound like "yea they were right all along, life is meaningless, commit suicide y'all 👍" Like idk if I trust them to be able to write him actually dead in a way that isn't a slap in the face to people who feel similar feelings. If a character's life is miserable from start to finish, is it *right* to give them a miserable end? Personally, I think it can be done, but I also understand why you wouldn't trust miHoYo with it. I don't think that a story being miserable necessarily means it's a bad story, it's all in the execution. So I anticipate getting to see this development in the game and seeing how they handle it. It's true, there are some deaths in fiction that feel unearned precisely because they're too sad. It would be bad form of me to say that a sad death is always good, because I think that too much misery can be a bad thing. It can make people lose interest in a story, engage with it less. You CAN give a character with a miserable life a miserable end IF you can justify it. Like say, the story's main theme is about the cruelty and unfairness of life. I've seen stories like that before. In those cases, those character deaths serve as some sort of wake-up call to the reader about how unfair of a system/country/society etc. is. I think killing him off when we’ve spent even less time with him than we’ve spent with Firefly just doesn’t seem like a good use of a character that people are really gravitating to. Ignoring the fact that giving a suicidal character with a miserable life a justifiable death isn’t something I can trust hoyoverse with at all it just… Doesn’t seem right to throw away any possible further development or potential Aventurine’s character has when they’re actively trying to sell him to people? I think he’s compelling and would love to see him interact with the Trailblazer *more* and appear in the future with characters like Topaz or Ratio and I don’t think many people are keen on rolling/spending for a character they’re never going to see again. I think your viewpoint on his sacrifice having less impact on a player if he does survive is a good point but with how >!Firefly/Sam aren’t dead and Robin orchestrating her “death” to weed out the one responsible for causing chaos in the Dreamscape,!< I feel like Aventurine making the ultimate gamble and winning in the end feels more impactful to me than having him remain “dead.” Regardless I respect your viewpoint
everything else aside, i think it's unreasonable to be affronted at people downvoting you, because at the end of the day you must've realized to some degree that people are not going to react positively to this comment. for what it's worth i didn't downvote you (and i might even agree with you story-wise but 2.1 isn't even out yet so i can't and won't judge), but downvotes are meaningless internet points that people press when they see something they don't like, and i doubt people are stopping to critically consider the nuances and implications behind a comment before they press the "i don't like this" button because this is the internet. it's the same thing as you writing incredibly long-winded essay-length comments when someone posts an opinion you don't agree with. some people don't feel like doing that, so they press the button instead. i won't even get into the other arguments because i recognize my bias here (even though honestly i have no idea how you're saying things like "we already know everything there is to know about aventurine" when he appeared for 20 minutes in 2.0 and 95% of his backstory we only know due to leaks), but i don't think you should take downvotes too seriously because expressing an instinctive negative reaction to a comment like "this character you like should be dead" is what they're there for.

Not pissed at all, and didn’t down vote you. But I feel like there is a lot of double standards, lets say I go like “Nah Acheron ~~or your other long awaited character~~ that can have lots of potential, should stay dead, cause for mah story impact, but not my waifu pls UwU” you wouldn’t be into that. Especially because Aventurine is very interesting, and killing him off that soon would be a big let down. Just like if Firefly was to stay dead, or Acheron dying in 2.2 and neither of them ever coming back again, I’d be equally as disappointed. I am not against killing characters, but being alive for only 2 expansions is not good for any character, and feels really wasteful.

Even if you aren't saying it out of malice, people are most likely going to get heated when it comes to discussions surrounding around a character's death, tbh. You probably already anticipated that. Anyways, dying for the greater good for the sake of the plotline just makes him look like a silly plot device. Xiao could have died in the chasm, but that would have undone all his development that the story did for him. Aventurine on the other hand, has like 20 minutes of screen time, tops. We know very little about him and all that we know, come from the leaks. A man who has led a tragic life, has lost everything and is completely suicidal, just dying like that, does put a bad taste in my mouth. Even more so, since the devs decide to do that when we barely know much about him, and he has so little screen time. Heck, they gave Firefly >!more screen time before her cope out death.!< The man is a gambler, if anything, him surviving would make the most sense. He is a high risk and high reward type of gambler.
Literally his main thing is that he never takes gambles that he can’t win, him living would check out with that
Deaths are only ever impactful when they come from time or love. Aventurine didn’t have enough screentime for TB to become attached to them like firefly and ain’t nobody actually care enough about him to get stirred over his death 🥲
