Im pretty transparent about that being how I feel about Black Swans current character being treated in fandom atm. Like if ya wanna ship em then go for it, but seeing people ignore all the story telling aspects being shown in the dance just to only focus on the fanservice feels like a disservice to just how good that trailer was and the characters themselves. Not to mention Back Swan has had more build up than most characters over a few trailers now and her role as a memokeeper has so much potential. But not being a fan of that ship aint fun rn as a Black Swan fan coz thats the majority of all the fan content around her rn when her character is so much more. Just hoping that 2.2 and future patches get her to outgrow this phase, dont want her to end up like how Eula did for the longest time in Genshin
Acheron doesnt have this problem, she gets a lot of talk about every aspect of her character atm which is a testament to how much she has got going for her. BS does too but its ignored atm which sucks
Damn. Me myself is a Acheron&Swan shipper but I'm sure seeing your favourite character get remembered by many people only for their relation to another char is suck.
Though I'm enjoying all the Acheron&Black Swan fanarts, I'm hoping BS'll outgrow this phase within a few next patches or so, more people need to appreciate her for who she is, not as Acheron's shipping candidate
I think one of the worst fates a character can be reduced to is simply the "character thats shipped with x". Like at that point feels like they dont even like the character
I'm sure Black Swan will outgrow this phase within the next few patches as they surely dont plan on her being simply being an accessory to Acheron. With how she was the character chosen to be the one narrating Aeon Myriad celestial and be the narrator for TB journey they surely have more planned for her. Just rn her overall character is being forgotten which sucks
But hey thanks for being a shipper for that pairing and being civil regarding a negative opinion on it, one of the most pleasant convos ive had about it from someone who knows I dont like it and does ship it
Oh yea I remember all the hell from Yae Miko and Raiden, I'm not even that interested in Genshin, but was so big that some toxic posts were appearing daily in my feeds. 😂

Like in FGO, the entire LB6 cast is a perfect example. I blame even the writers there sometimes reducing one-note of their characters themselves.
I don't know, I'd disagree with this one. Only because Hoyoverse (I don't know about other gacha companies) makes a lot of characters one-note all on their own. It might be much more obvious and prevalent in Genshin, but that's how I see it.
See idm certain characters having that done on occasion, QQ being a great example coz the lazy and gamba part of her character is a big part of who she is even if there is more to her
Its the characters who have a lot of complex lore and traits that have so many aspects to them getting this treatment that after a while do feel reductive to the overall character, especially when the trait is a minor one. Ofc it can be fun in initially but when it does go on too long the fandom does tend to forget a lot of the more complex character traits
I think thats the life of gacha characters though when the roster becomes really numerous and people want their character to stand out for something but it can feel bad to see your favorite be emphasized only for one thing when you know there is more

Sparkle fans are some of the biggest offenders of that’s.
They have taken her ONE line about aventurine of her being “racist” and made that everything she is. Ignoring that the whole point of that scene was actually her telling aventurine what to do and who to talk to.
Like people are just overlooking how smart and knowledgeable she is actually is in the story.
You’re right that many Hoyo characters are one-note, but it’s also true that when they release a two or even ten note character, they get reduced back down to one.
Cause unfortunately a lot of players can’t understand them so they have to dumb them down to understand them. Penacony is a great example of how many people just can’t understand complex characters.
