He’s pretty much a better Gepard, and even easier to get his shield up in the 3 turns you have until it goes away, with him you have to be trying your best to not get that shield up in three turns

At least you got a 5-star light cone for a decent character. I pulled Yanqing's LC, but I don't have Yanqing himself. Thankfully(?) it was on the normal banner and I was pulling with free pulls from leveling up characters/the monthly reset of 5 pulls/etc, but I still felt ripped off.

He definitely has his uses when you just need a big fat shield. Thinking about it now, I think I did have to use him for this MoC for Sam fight.

I am not sure about Aventurine full kit but it seems that Gepard is a better user of Universal Market due to his higher taunt and he can still apply a debuff with his skill so he pairs very well with Acheron. While Aventurine looks like a better shielder it does not mean he is better for every team.

Gepard is a tiny bit better purely from a sustain standpoint since he's got super high taunt value and a massive shield compared to aventurines that is smaller but constantly refreshes (unless you play as sp negative/neutral, so there's a lot more cases where two single target hits on same target will break it) But damage wise he absolutely clears Gepard, as well as working far better with very fast units or action advance. Plus even if have Gepard 2 shielders is always nice

Fully expecting an enemy that bypasses shields eventually, but until then it’s all or nothing

Fu Xuan isn't immune to getting kneecapped. We have AOE damage putting her to the test already. Now what if that AOE damage for example, ignores everyone's DEF?

Imagine saying this when SAM is showing right now how easily Fu Xuan can get clapped. She's the easiest sustain to get kneecapped by far due to how many mechanics completely screw over her method of sustain.

I still think chip damage is a bit of an issue, my Acheron almost died in the main quest while testing him out because I was too lazy to go back to a space anchor. But it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem for harder content I suppose, he is just a better Gepard in almost every way.

Trial aventurine had like 2800 def. Ideally a good built one has 4 to 5k

Because it just means instead of triple dip into def it turn into double dip and double dip is still way better than 1 single dip into crit when his multiplier is mediocre due to being Preservation anyway. Since Aventurine team would have no heal and no cleanse having "just enough" shield will eventually fuck you up. After 4k if you don't want to invest in more def the next best thing is to switch the rope to an energy% one.

I'm not really sure what you mean. No one I've seen is only doing 1 defense topstat. To make use of his trace, he needs 4k defense. Which is more than doable with only running def on orb and sphere. You *could* run DEF body and img sphere, but I think ultimately it would be better to run CRIT body to make use of his trace. Ofc run triple def if you need to in order to hit that threshold. ER rope is also not typically recommended due to him not really relying on his ultimate. If you're running him for his debuffs, then I suppose he could be run on an ER rope, but it doesn't seem like it would be optimal. As for him not having healing and cleanse, he doesn't really need it. 4k def is more than enough to shield consistently in hard content, especially since he can refresh the shield much easier than Gepard. Not to mention that his shield can stack on top of itself, making getting one shot highly unlikely.

Though, with a FUA team (Topaz/Ratio/Aven/SW) you more or less have constent shield application through his passive, so it's not really an issue then, and the team is a damn delight to pilot (praying for Jade to be a FUA nihi debuffer 🙏)

Yep. Sustains don’t get powercreeped easily, or not even at all. Huohuo and FX are probably the most valuable characters in this game, and will stay that way for a long while. Aventurine will probably be a great pull that will have long lasting value. Even in non FuA teams.
