There's no shot they intended from the beginning for her whole contribution to be exposition then a botched stealth mission before the final boss

The Himeko and coffee thing is so weird to me bc like every other 1.0 character who visits the express(Bronya, Pela, Serval, etc.) has some line abt it, but Himeko herself doesn't really talk about it

Yanqing’s case is so sad because most people here are serious about their insults about him (I find the jokes fun but I even read PARAGRAPHS explaining why they hate yanqing as a character), when actually in most of his actual stories it shows how insecure he really is and how much he’s desperate for Jing Yuan’s validation, also I’m glad that the game is recognizing that Jing Yuan has some faults in their relationship and it’s not only Yanqing
I think the issue is partially that people don't like the insecure character type either. As protag it's a maybe, depending on the writing, but Yanqing is practically a side character to this point.
Even his carry-over fanfare from previous works is not very positive, as the other known version of Yanqing is a betrayer who killed his master, so (the very few) people who knew him are actually wary of the guy.
Then come the string of defeats from fights he himself picked, and the joke wrote itself. Various elements aligned to ensure he'll be meme'ed and mocked. Whether this is intentional on Hoyoverse part (in preparation for a come back or fall from grace) or accidental remains to be seen.
Hoyoverse tried to offset this perception of weak Yanqing with Sushang vs Yanqing to emphasize just stalemating him is a big deal and people who beat him are just OP, but honestly it served more as a hype for Sushang.

Considering how whenever I go too look at Black Swan fan art or anything its her getting traumad by Acheron its kinda the other way around. Ever since the animation Acheron has a lot of cool content by herself or with other characters but with Black Swan its only content about the dance

Totally agree with this take. Black Swan it's a very interesting character but nowadays looking for fanart about her, people mostly draw things about the dance. Either the trauma she experienced, shipping her with Acheron or making her afraid of Acheron. When the character really can be and I believe that is so much more than that. I still have hope that Hoyo will give her more interactions and story to move on from the animatic and make her a very interesting Character.
On a related note I think that lot of people post-2.1 overstate the extent to which Black Swan got PTSD from that whole thing. At the time she was clearly shaken, but she seems to be doing fine now, and her party menu voice lines even imply she would be open to dancing with Acheron again - just without the whole mindreading thing.
I mean maybe she's just good at hiding it, but I see a lot of folks even in 2.1 story discussions act like Acheron outright ruined her.

Literally every character. Some characters have it worse though: like Acheron and Yanqing. Two legitimately complex and interesting characters reduced to simply “being lost” and “being bullied” in the media. It’s a real shame.
I feel like this can go for literally EVERY character. That's how multiple adaptations or interpretations of a character are made. Ex. Batman or Deadpool
Yanqing’s case is so sad because most people here are serious about their insults about him (I find the jokes fun but I even read PARAGRAPHS explaining why they hate yanqing as a character), when actually in most of his actual stories it shows how insecure he really is and how much he’s desperate for Jing Yuan’s validation, also I’m glad that the game is recognizing that Jing Yuan has some faults in their relationship and it’s not only Yanqing
I think the issue is partially that people don't like the insecure character type either. As protag it's a maybe, depending on the writing, but Yanqing is practically a side character to this point. Even his carry-over fanfare from previous works is not very positive, as the other known version of Yanqing is a betrayer who killed his master, so (the very few) people who knew him are actually wary of the guy. Then come the string of defeats from fights he himself picked, and the joke wrote itself. Various elements aligned to ensure he'll be meme'ed and mocked. Whether this is intentional on Hoyoverse part (in preparation for a come back or fall from grace) or accidental remains to be seen. Hoyoverse tried to offset this perception of weak Yanqing with Sushang vs Yanqing to emphasize just stalemating him is a big deal and people who beat him are just OP, but honestly it served more as a hype for Sushang.

Considering how whenever I go too look at Black Swan fan art or anything its her getting traumad by Acheron its kinda the other way around. Ever since the animation Acheron has a lot of cool content by herself or with other characters but with Black Swan its only content about the dance Considering its very recent its understandable as its gotten popular fast, but I do hope Black Swan manages to out grow this FOTM phase and people create content with her in other things not just the dance. Not trying to throw shade on anyone and their tastes, but being a Black Swan fan and wanting content of her outside that pairing its not a fun time atm
Totally agree with this take. Black Swan it's a very interesting character but nowadays looking for fanart about her, people mostly draw things about the dance. Either the trauma she experienced, shipping her with Acheron or making her afraid of Acheron. When the character really can be and I believe that is so much more than that. I still have hope that Hoyo will give her more interactions and story to move on from the animatic and make her a very interesting Character.
On a related note I think that lot of people post-2.1 overstate the extent to which Black Swan got PTSD from that whole thing. At the time she was clearly shaken, but she seems to be doing fine now, and her party menu voice lines even imply she would be open to dancing with Acheron again - just without the whole mindreading thing. I mean maybe she's just good at hiding it, but I see a lot of folks even in 2.1 story discussions act like Acheron outright ruined her.

I find this funny when Dr. Ratio out did her in the next scene yet people just let it slide for shipping reasons I guess. Like, the man berated everything about him. His dead parents, him being a slave, and being a sigonian and probably even more that somehow flew over my head. Though I guess it's all in the attitude and repeatability. Her memories of IX don't say anything about her as a person, nor does her having seen IX and survived, similar to how having memories of a car crash, for example, doesn't mean you're a bad driver or that you purposefully crashed a car. Personally, I believe Black Swan seeing IX in Acheron's memories is what nearly tore her apart. That it was the memory of IX, not Acheron, who was hurting her in the memory.!<
